“Hey,” Nova moved to stand in his view, hands on her hips. “I was kidding Bell.”
“Usually jokes are funny, Nova.” Bellamy responded coolly. “You know I’ve been doing everything possible to not be like the people up there.”
[College AU] Standing on the Edge || Echo & Bellamy
Echo was pleased when he suggested Saturday. She was off almost every weekend. She nodded quickly. “Me too. That’s perfect.” Must have been meant to be. Her heart skipped a beat at the notion of going on a real date with him. Her stomach erupted in a fit of butterflies as she tried to calm herself down and not seem overenthused about their plans. Their date.
She glanced over at him mow and smiled softly. “Maybe we could do dinner before we head to the underage club?” One of her favorite bands were playing there Saturday night. She wanted to share that with him.
“I mean, if you want to,” she added shyly.
Bellamy beamed without even having to think about doing so when she said that was perfect. He wasn’t much of a superstitious person, but he couldn’t help thinking that this had happened for a reason. That they both had Sunday free. “Saturday it is, than.” He liked their note passing conversations in class, sure. But his mind reeled and his heart thudded in excitement at the kinds of conversations they could have without being worried about getting caught or having a specific time limit to do so.
“I would love to.” He said when she asked about dinner, tentatively reaching for her hand and giving it a soft squeeze.
Underneath Your Skin || Echo & Bellamy
“We’re running out of time, Bellamy,” Clarke hissed from his right. She muscled her way into the small space, eyes scanning the equipment. Raven was needed here, but that was impossible. She had been helping Wick, and they’d lost contact with them a few hours prior. She felt her fists curling at her sides as the anger welled up in her. Goddamn you, Lexa.
Echo narrowed her eyes, taking in the blonde and not letting her presence and the anger to feed into her own emotions. She turned to look at Octavia then Bellamy. “What do you suggest?” She was all out of ideas, and she had to put her complete trust in him that he would get them out of this.
With all of their people.
Things were already stressful enough, and Clarke’s words and actions weren’t helping in the slightest. But he forced himself to keep at least some semblance of calm inside of himself, not wanting to start a fight when their situation was already perilous enough. “I’m aware of that, Clarke.” He hissed back as he examined what was in front of them at this current moment. He had no idea what he was looking at. They needed Raven, or even Monty or Jasper might be of use. But she wasn’t here, neither was anyone who could help.
They were completely on their own.
Bellamy turned to look at Echo as she spoke, the metaphorical gears in his brain turning at rapid speeds as he glanced around. “If I had any idea what we were looking at, I would say we could try to trick it into opening by snipping some of the wires. But I have no idea what that would do.”
“I was kidding,” she gave him a duh face, pressing her lips together.
Bellamy didn’t say anything, just turned away to look at the other members of the camp.
“Then gimme your gun,” she turned to him and smiled.Â
Bellamy frowned. “Am I acting like that?” He asked seriously.
Nova laughed and rolled her eyes. “Right, of course, Chancellor Blake.”
Bellamy laughed at her words. “God, if I ever start seriously acting like that, shoot me.” He said earnestly.
“If you say so…” she muttered, looking up at him.
“I do. And my word is law.” He smiled to let her know he was totally kidding.
“We survived because the Earth’s air isn’t toxic, and seeing as there are people living down here I’m guessing it hasn’t been for a while,” she was trying to think practically. “I don’t know Bell…”
Bellamy looked at her. “I do. We’ll be fine.” He reached out and gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze.
Nova rolled her eyes and nudged his side, all with a smile on her face before she looked up at him. “You really think we can do this?”
Bellamy nodded. “I do, honestly. We’ve survived, when no one up there thought we would.” He smiled at her. “We can do this.”
“I guess,” she shrugged. “We can be old together then.”
Bellamy laughed. “There we go.”
Nova couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on her face but she shook her head. “You’ve got your sister, and Clarke? Surely you’d be fine without me.”
“You’re not getting it. Clarke and Octavia, while awesome, are barely eighteen. You’re one of the only people down here that’s my age.”
“Well isn’t it?” the who hadn’t had much of a relationship since her father was floated, and though it wasn’t really either of their faults, things still felt weird.
“Of course not. I like you being down here. It makes me feel less alone.” He didn’t look at her as he said this, just kept his gaze straight ahead.
“Not even getting stuck down here with me?” Nova finally allowed her eyes to lock with Bellamy’s; she had been avoiding his gaze the entire conversation, in fact the entire time they’d been on earth. Again her tone was playful, but serious.
“Is that how you think I feel about you? That I’m stuck down here with you?” Bellamy felt hurt.
“And down here I’m not a lab rat,” she said jokingly, though there was a hint of truth behind her words as she chuckled slightly.
Bellamy gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.. He had a feeling she wasn’t exactly kidding, but he wouldn’t force her to tell him. “Despite everything, I wouldn’t change anything that’s happened. Especially not coming down here.”
“It’s actually kind of refreshing,” she shrugged. “Not being inferior, you know?”
“You make a very good point.” Bellamy said. “I mean, down here I’m actually worth something.”
“Does it ever get exhausting for you to be one of the only adults down here?”
