Connor moved along the line, pushing his tray along and getting a bread roll and a carton of milk, smiling at the lunch ladies before stopping in front of the cash register, patting down his pockets. Shit. His wallet. “Uh- Shoot, I, uh…” He didn’t know what to say, he just had to buy himself some time, then he could find his wallet, or any stray coins. “I must’ve left my wallet in my locker- I, uh-”

——- Josh was always described as being generous to a almost annoying degree. At least by friends. Some would even joke that if he were dying, he would give away something that could save his life simply because someone else needed. He’d never really spoken to Connor, the two had never had a reason to speak to each other before, so many it was just dumb luck that they happened to be in line together when Connor realized he didn’t have the money to pay for his lunch, Josh speaking up after only a moment of consideration. 

       ❝ I got it, don’t worry. Just ring us up together, I’ll pay. ❞ he tells the lunch lady, who nods and just puts in what’s on Josh’s tray to the bill, Josh handing over some cash and then getting his change back.
