When it comes to talks of healthcare, talks of rights... They never fail to notice when I am out riding in my wheelchair, be it day or night... They never fail to approach, post-gawking randomly asking, personal questions – as if they are owed my time There I am curbside, crosswalk, waiting for the light, when I hear... “Awe, you're such a pretty girl... what happened?” I swear every time I hear a random stranger say “Oh my god, you're in a wheelchair!” As if this was a revelation I long to reply “Oh my god, you're wearing pants!” in the same tone as if we're playing a game called Captain Obvious all in hopes that if I respond to their absurdity with further absurdity, that it's jarring just enough, to make them think How strange it is to be invisible and yet hyper seen video description: I am sitting in my motorized wheelchair in my bathroom. You can see a hint of the black headrest behind me but that's about it you can see me kind of from the way stuff I am wearing a pink and red tie-dye dress with a red plaid sleeveless shirt dress situation red and black striped arm warmers a rainbow metallic turban with a big flower on the top & small satyr horns. I am reading from a piece of paper and occasionally looking up. #cripplepunk #disabledaf #poetry #poem #disabledpoet #poet #ableism #staring #ableistcomments #disabilitytiktok
