there's actually a secret eighth deadly sin and it's exactly like gluttony except for textile projects
So I bashed my head into the ceiling fan light fixture in my bedroom and destroyed it (my head is unscathed) and have since replaced it. However. I've decided to turn the mangled remains of that light fixture into a disco solar system, so I'm painting up some disco balls. Mayhem is a VERY big fan of disco balls.
Oh! I forgot to post the fully finished version of this! Maybe eventually I'll get up early enough to catch it in the sun but it's honestly not in the best spot for sunlight. Which is what I get for making a big project with no idea where to put it.
I wanted both that towel and that crochet project but okay
Everyone is always calling him a horse in the notes but it's not his fault that he has the hansomest coat pattern of all time
quilt time quilt time
Behold! 1/3 of a quilt top! Pinned to my bedroom curtains because I haven't made a foam design board yet.
Featuring Fred, who was upset I was rustling the curtains around.
So in love with these bright happy colors and how this top is coming along. This is my second quilt and I'm loving learning new skills and using the fabric I've been collecting for years.
The batiks were gifted by a friend who bought them during her trip to Bali and the solid I bought for $3 at a local craft thrift store. The craft store sells fabric by the pound and has become my new favorite place recently.
I'm planning for this to be a lap quilt or something I can throw over my shoulders when I'm working in the collection this winter. The 65f rooms feel nice in the summer, but I'll probably freeze in December.
I haven't picked out a backing fabric yet, but I'm tempted to use some gorgeous royal purple sheets I've had since college. Not sure what batting I'll use either. I love the drape the top has right now and want it to maintain that drape for ultimate coverage in gay sitting positions.
The thing that blindsides me every time is how heavy a crochet project quickly becomes. 2kg of yarn weighs 2kg but I always somehow feel like when it is absorbed into The Project it should no longer weigh 2kg.
Each ball is only 100g which is very light so crocheting 20 of them together should also be very light.
Me, holding a 50g ball of yarn: surely knitting 15 of these into a sweater won't weigh more than like. 100g
Me, later: by Talos this can't be happening
ME AND MY 6KG AND COUNTING GIANT BLANKET!!!!!
Turning this blanket is getting harder...
I got some more flying geese made this afternoon between wrangling loads of laundry. Hubby was puzzling and making bread. He proudly brought his loaf into my sewing room for show and smell. I could see a face on the side of his loft, he thought I was losing it. Can you see it? The puzzle is looking good too. We have all been working on the puzzle and tonight we took all the little bits people had built and moved them onto the big board. The kids then worked on joining them up and filling gaps. It is so much fun working together. We all work away at it differently but when we all work together we make great progress and have a lot of great conversations and laughter. My other accomplishment for the day was finishing off the final strip for the big blue star hexie quilt top. Hopefully tomorrow evening I will have some energy left to start stitching the panels onto the quilt top. I really want to keep moving with it and get the quilt top done.
Man, the cube hexis are sooo satisfying to make.
Saw a post on reddit about just carrying thread instead of cutting off every end or whatnot and oh boy, that speeds up each one a lot more than I thought!
... Also that one hexi rotated the wrong way bothers me, but I only noticed after I put it up on the hexi cube wall
I finally finished this quilt top, about a million hand sewn hexagons. Itâs about 40â x 40â and will become a quilt for Welcome Blanket, an organization that gives handmade blankets to immigrants to welcome them into the USA. I started it the day Trump got elected, but it took me this long because I had carpal tunnel syndrome and surgeries for it.
I wanted the colors to look like a bowl of jelly beans.
Best thing about watching my grandparents cat is that while I'm there I can rifle through the great Quilt Stash and bring out beautiful works of art to sleep under.
Still plugging along on the hexi flowers too! I've decided to alternate days with them, but the days aren't always even in available time, energy or physical ability.
I did also get a little interested in another little project, making little fabric tubes full of yarn. I think you could do many interesting things with them! Haven't got pics of those yet.

A fun little horse sculpture ready for this next update! Itâll be available this Friday, April 17th at 8pm Eastern time.
Does it count as 'sword in the stone' if it looks more like 'sword in the cairn'...?

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Really been on a tear with these recently. I think I'd like to make curtains with them, eventually. đ
The color combos don't always work as intended, but it's all part of the fun.
Got a paper cutter at goodwill, a compact one with the slide blade. That and a protractor, and I made my own damn diamonds since I can't find a paper punch. I get a lot of junk mail so it works out. Too cheap to pay for pre-made ones, especially in the kinds of numbers it looks like I'm gonna need.
Everyone look at the quilt my grandma made me!! Iâve actually had it for a few years now but I wanted to post it so yâall could admire it!
