I ventured out for the first time in a little while yesterday get my first iron infusion done. My energy levels are just a little better, but I'm still having a lot of pain in honestly way too many places to list. Still having a lot of tingling and loss of sensation in my feet which my neurologist was sure would go away immediately after this, so I'll be calling him Monday. I'd been meaning to anyways because my headaches and migraines have been horrific, but I knew he wouldn't have anything new to say unless I'd had the infusion done first, so I didn't. I love not be taken seriously but doctors just because they haven't figured out what's going on with me, like how is that my fault? Pelvic pain is off the charts, don't know if I have another cyst, or if the one that's there is just bigger again, and I won't know unless I go to the ER or until my appointment at the end of May because they pushed all non-pregnancy related appointments which sucks, but I understand. It's barely 5pm and I'm so freaking sleepy, but I don't really feel like waking up at 3am so...gotta stay awake. The next medical provider to suggest a diet of any sort to me as a remedy to whatever is going on with me is getting a verbal dressing down about how irresponsible it is to suggest any sort of diet to someone in #eatingdisorderrecovery. I'm done playing nice and keeping my mouth shut. This is ridiculous and I'm exhausted. I'm angry at the amount of ignorance the medical community has surrounding the treatment of patients with either a current #eatingdisorder or one in their history. And I have a right to be, there's plenty of literature out there and they choose not to read it. I verbalize my knowledge to them and they ignore me due to my lack of a medical degree. I've been dealing with some mystery chronic illness for almost a year now and I spend most of every appointment I go to trying get people to look past what I eat and my weight. I've spent years trying not to obsess over my food and my weight, and now that's all doctors seem to want to focus on. Even when I tell them that all the weight I've gained has been gained without any change to what I eat, and that when I went back to restricting and purging not only did my weight not go down, it continued to skyrocket. I experience chronic migraines, dizziness, back and neck pain, numbness and tingling in my legs/feet, extreme fatigue, and the list continues, but the only thing anyone wants to focus on is my weight. Hey #doctors and #nurses EITHER LISTEN TO YOUR DAMN PATIENTS OR GET OUT. We pay a lot of money to come see you, the least you could do is pay attention. Stop dismissing us. We may not have medical degrees, but a lot of us have been in and out of medical care due to our eating disorders.
