Toons are modern fae/fairies
They do logic-defying things no human can do (manipulate their bodies and the environment around them, pull items from out of nowhere, survive injuries that would k*ll a man, break the fourth wall)
They meddle in human affairs to enact some sort of justice (Daffy Duck), but often only interact with humans when provoked (Bugs Bunny)
Can be benevolent or malicious, but are usually harmless tricksters
They fixate on what interests them (singing, dancing, performing, making the audience or themselves laugh, etc.) to the point that they almost seem unaware of their surroundings
Not all of them communicate verbally; some communicate largely through gestures, nonverbal sounds, or song (Foxy in âLady, Play Your Mandolin!â)
The environment around them takes on an otherworldly nature (black-and-white, everything is bouncing and seemingly alive)
Inkwells, rabbit holes, water towers, etc. = fairy forts, and if you destroy or disturb these places in any way, the toon will seek retribution (typically through slapstick)
The physics-defying ways that toons teleport and travel = fairy path
Knowing your name and/or face does technically give them a sort of power over you (they will find you no matter where you go or how far away you are)
Their âcourtsâ are whatever company currently owns the rights to them, but these can fluctuate and are seen as far more superficial than traditional fairy courts (Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit were created by Disney and thus would be members of the Disney Court, but ethically speaking they still belong in the public domain because no single person or company owns fae/the concept of fae)
Humans tell stories about toons (cartoons, movies, comics, video games) that have been passed down for generations and are constantly reinterpreted, and as a result, certain attributes are prone to changes (sometimes Bendy is a harmless and curious trickster, other times he is actively trying to k*ll people)
Humans also leave offerings (fan art, fanfic, etc.) and hold small-scale celebrations to honor them (celebrating birthdays and cartoon anniversaries)
