Time for lore, just to move this story forward eh? As a scholar, Corvin's main interest in life is currently to understand and learn as much as he can about this world. So, what better way to move the story forward than some, let's say, unfortunate circumstances.
-- Corvin: "Hey, Trear. Just logging our use of resources. You guys have permission to go for missionaries, right?" Trear: "Hmm. Keep a light on, kid. Tytyar said she had a bad feeling, and so do I." Corvin: "Any idea what it could be?" Trear: "I just know something dangerous could be close by, and that's been enough for most of my life." Corvin: "Right. Anyway, good night then. I think I'll stay up a bit late tonight." --
--
Lamb: "Good morning, Corvin. Isn't this a surprise?" Corvin: "Hmm? Oh, morning." Lamb: "What are you doing up so early? The Sun's barely out." Corvin: "Just reading my old thoughts from my journal, trying to understand my personality I suppose." Lamb: "Ooh, interesting. Are you ever going to teach me that language you write in?" Corvin: "Only when an actual reason to comes up, other than being curious about my journal." Lamb: "Booo, I raised you and you still don't trust me?" Corvin: "Didn't you take me to kill a dissenter just a few days ago because you didn't want to deal with him?" Lamb: "Hey, Jajul started too many fights, and he also kept asking me to make others eat poop." Corvin: "Heheh, yeah, I guess you're right. He was kind of a jerk. But no, I'm not teaching you this language." Lamb: "When did you even make that language anyway? I've never seen letters written like that before." Corvin: "Well, as far as it concerns this entire world, I'm the only one who writes in that language. So, let's just say it's a personal thing." Lamb: "Hmph, fine. Keep your secrets. I have all of eternity to find out anyway." Corvin: "What were you doing out all night? I tried to find you when I woke up." Lamb: "Oh just a small visit to Ratau. Had a fun night." Corvin: "Am I still banned?" Lamb: "After you cheated a hefty bag off of the entire crew? Yeah." Corvin: "Hey, all of us cheated. I just did it better." Lamb: "Yeah, right. Meet me at the knucklebones table today." Corvin: "Hah!" Lamb: "Oh, right. Why were you looking for me?" Corvin: "Oh yeah. I dreamt of dead people last night." Lamb: "What?" Corvin: "Is that not normal? I didn't recognize most of them." Lamb: "No! Corvin, what the fuck!?"
--
-- Lamb: "So, how are you enjoying your stay so far?" Leshy: "It is... decent." Lamb: "Oh good. I was wondering since you didn't cause any chaos even though you've been here for a whole week now."
Leshy: "Damnable Lamb, why do you go so far to pester me? Cooking is the responsibility of a servant." Lamb: "Well, unfortunately, we don't have servants in the cult. And our best cook is currently... out of commission. So either stop complaining and eat the Meat Broth, or starve. Your decision." Leshy: "Hmph." --
-- Leshy: "Damned Lamb-" Lamb: "Why can't you use just Lamb?" Leshy: "Are you even the leader of this cult?" Lamb: "If you mean Narinder, know that he's only not here because he volunteered to search for more supplies as a missionary. He'll take at least four more days to come back." Leshy: "No, I also don't want to be even near that prick. I am talking about that bird." Lamb: "You mean... the raven?" Leshy: "Why does he watch me?" Lamb: "You might be a bit delusional if you think Corvin has the time, or interest to keep such a close eye on you." Leshy: "I beg to differ." Lamb: "Why's that?" Leshy: "Call me paranoid, but every time I sense even the tip of his talons, I can feel him staring. Even right now." Lamb: "Really? All I see is just... him appointing where to put the newest supplies. Oh, and, try not to piss off the deer. Trear used to have both horns before he met your previous followers." Leshy: "I care not for the feelings of a mere mortal." Lamb: "But you're cautious of Corvin?" Leshy: "I am curious of the bird that seems to be running this pathetic cult rather than you." Lamb: "Well, you'll just have to get your answers from Corvin himself then. Especially since even I don't know what he's thinking half the time." Leshy: "Who said I ever needed you, damned Lamb?" Lamb: "Seriously, why is it always 'damned Lamb'? I was well expecting you to just start throwing curses at me at every chance you got." Leshy: "Agh, leave me alone!" Lamb: "Fine, I had some stuff to discuss with Corvin anyway." Leshy: "Hmph. Can't tell if they are that idiotic that they do not notice, or if they are just pretending not to. Damned Lamb." -- Alright, I tried a more vibrant color selection this time. I don't know about the others, but I actually really like how Leshy turned out. That one just feels right.
-- Corvin: "So, when you said we have emergency funds, you meant we would be selling the remains of dead followers to The One Who Waits, our patron God through the offering chest you never bothered to explain?" Lamb: "Well of course. It's not like we're desperate enough to eat it. Much better to offer it all to someone who wants to. Besides, he gives the most coins for a piece, except for fish. Do you want us to offer him some of your favorite lobsters?" Corvin: "Lobsters are crustaceans and... he's waited this long, he can wait about sixty more years for my death to get 'em." Lamb: "Is that blasphemy?" Corvin: "I'd say it's words of worship, praising his great patience." Lamb: "Hah!" Corvin: "See? Twisting words are easy." Lamb: "Alright, do you want a share or not?" Corvin: "I would like an allowance, yes." Lamb: "I'm giving you a part of it so you can spend it for the cult. It's not an allowance." Corvin: "I'll use it for the cult, some of it." Lamb: "Hey!" Corvin: "You have dried blood on your cloak, by the way." Lamb: "Oh come on!" -- Alright, back again. Drawing actually took a lot more time than I thought it would, considering how simple it looks. At least it looks simple to me. Two things, firstly I added the crown last, because I genuinely forgot about the crown completely. Like, I kept looking at the Lamb, just knowing something was wrong, but not noticing it until I looked at a picture for reference. Secondly, I think I will be adding dialogue like you see above to tell this story. So unless I specifically make a comic and such, I'll probably show them talking like this.
I genuinely can't tell if I added too many details or too little, or if I messed up the rendering that badly, but it just looks so bad for some reason.
First time making an OC and actually sticking to it. This is Corvin, a follower in the Cult Of The Lamb. Born from an egg the Lamb found on one of their crusades, all he knows about the world comes from experiences inside the cult. He's the book smart type of character and generally doesn't do well with combat. Basically a scholar with a high tolerance for uncleanliness due to being raised on cult grounds.
