Believe it or not, I'm still alive. I've been a bit busy with college, but I'll try to get back to being active here. I've been missing talking about Monet A lot!!!!!!
Finally finishing, sorry for taking so long to write the second part, I've been busy and I wasn't thaat English speaker these days...
As we read Generation X vol 1 #58, we read a conversation between Monet and Cartier (already talked about it on a post btw).
It's clear here that, Marius is rejected by the family. I'm not sure if we had the reason of the death of Jamila before (as the cause of death, not who killed her), but this is one of the first times (correct me if I'm wrong) that the series really go deeper on what happened to Jamila.
As we continue, we see Marius again, and he starts his perspective about the day his mother died.
We don't see regret on Marius, as Monet said before, he's no longer a son nor brother. He became a selfish stranger that only cares about his needs. While I do think that his mutation changed him, I also don't feel so bad for him.
I also understand Cartier, but "how he'd turned out if I didn't push him away?" It's not very smart when you talk about someone that killed a dear person, traumatized his sisters and caused so much pain to his own family. Marius was not part of that family, weather his father had pushed him or not.
It was a really traumatic situation that led to Jamila's death. It's a sad thing that he changed and became a monster, someone that would change his family's lives forever.
And when we think deeper, the last thing Jamila saw, was her son taking all her energy, her son not actually being her son, but someone else. Someone that cares so much about her family, had her life finished like that.
And then, thinking that after a day of fun, Cartier and the girls came back home, and had to discover that she was gone in such a tragic way. I can't imagine how unbearable that thought probably is to them. It's actually a really terrifying background if you get on the characters shoes. It was gone in just one evening.
Marius was gone, Jamila was gone, leaving the three girls and their father in such a traumatic situation.
I really wish Marvel would show more of Jamila, I really love her and I wish I had more informations about her.
All we know is that Marius is no longer Marius, that he changed, probably because of his mutation, which is sad. I'm sure that, if things were different, his mother would make everything in her control to help him with that, which is equally sad.

I've been dying to write about Jamila, Monet's mother, for a long time. I finally decided to get my act together and write a little about her.
There's not much about her on comics, but there are some little things that really shows that she was probably a really loving person.
X-Men Legacy vol 1 #228
So, starting with some facts about her, she's Algerian!! Also part of royalty (yes, Monet is THAT rich)
We see Monet mentioning it on Uncanny X-Men Vol4 #3.
I don't have much to talk about this, but I can't stop thinking that Monet still remembers her mother's perfume. It's a bit sad, but, as someone who already lost someone, it's somehow great. It's amazing when you notice that you still reminds little things about someone who's gone :(
Anyways, before talking about Jamila's death, I want to show her before it. This panels are my Roman empire, I can't stop thinking about it.

I don't even know where to start here.
She was so sweet, like "Monet, my darling", "my love", "sweetheart". Jamila was clearly a great loving mother and it breaks my heart thinking that Monet lost that.
Like "and whenever you're afraid" - Monet was allowed and free to be afraid with her mother. It hurts me thinking that, one day Monet could tell her mom that she was scared of something, but the other day she couldn't.
Now Monet is a woman who needs to be strong, be tough, because she needs to shelter herself to not get hurt. Monet might control Penance form, but is as if she was still hiding on a sharp form, even when she's M.

Really, I hate it. I just feel that, if she had Jamila by her side, things would be easier to her, maybe she would have some sort of comfort and, really, that's all she deserves.
Now, going back to this point:
WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT?
Really, this is terrible. It's clear that she had to keep her faith down and that's so awful. Cartier you should sleep with the eyes open, asshole .
And it's so sad, Monet just wanted to hear her maman (haven't pointed it, but I'm sobbing).
For me, it's clear that Monet was really comforted by Jamila's words, that the Fatiha would help her get some courage. Their relationship is so heartwarming that it also breaks my heart that they're in the past.
By the way, FUN FACT TIME!!
Monet IS a Muslim! I think that's really amazing and that she (probably) finds comfort in the religion, since her mother (probably) would talk about it with her when Cartier wasn't around.
There's not much about Monet + Muslim despite the previous panels and... These ones ! (X-factor Vol 1 #217)
It's clear that she cares about Islamism and I'm glad she's open to it. She can talk about being a Muslim, her mother probably couldn't be that open.
I wonder if sometimes Monet reads the Quran and thinks about her mother and how lovely her voice used to sound.

I think it'll be the last point, how Jamila died. When I think about it I get so +$!!?#(#+#+ in a REALLY bad way. Marius, Monet's brother, killed his own mother.
Yes, I do understand the circumstances but we won't defend Marius St. Croix on this account, he deserves hell !
