There’s a pause. An eternal moment. Those soft brown hues glance at Zander, quickly looking away with a slight red hue. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t thinking about his lips. Hands messing his hoodie string before he finally asks what’s in his mind. “Would it be weird to ask if I can kiss you?”

Zander can tell there's something rolling around in Chris' mind, and his eyes trail from Chris', over his face, across his lips for just a moment before dropping to watch his hands toy with the string on his hoodie.

His breath catches softly when the question is finally asked. Hazel eyes lift to meet Chris', searching as if to confirm that Chris is being serious.

"I don't think that'd be weird," he says after a moment, voice soft. Then, more boldly,"Maybe I'd like you to kiss me."

Zander's hold on Chris's hand is equally tight, as if he thinks the pressure can help ground him.

"Hey, it's okay," he says softly, kneeling next to Chris. "I'm here. I'm here, okay? I'm not goin' anywhere."

His thumb rubs over the back of Chris' hand, hazel eyes roaming over his face with concern, but zero judgement.

"Breathe with me, okay?," he says. Long, deep breaths in and out. "Just breathe with me."

How to Draw Native People: a Tutorial/Reference Guide

As requested, here is a basic guide for how to draw Indigenous peoples (mostly focused on North America)! Also please note that this is not an exhaustive list of Native American phenotypes/features, and more like an intro on very common features that can be found in us, and even then, not altogether at once on a single person’s face. I highly encourage the use of references and care taken into research when drawing. I may do a part 2 that goes slightly more into depth, but for now, enjoy part one.

mom. huh. it's been a while since she's even thought of janine that way. she'd even almost slipped up a few times and called jen mom this week, but she wasn't sure if she could do that yet. she felt it. jen had become more of a mom to her than janine had been in the last—she didn't even know how long—years. the on and off again thing her birth parents had her whole life had left them all a mere shell of themselves.

but hill crest has changed mj for the better. she has friends, family, community. and, frankly, she had only been skipping school today because she's caught up on all the reading and has been trying to learn how to cook from jia to help her new found family.

he smiles warmly at her, then. he doesn't know when, exactly, he became this.... fraternal figure to these kids, but he's surprised to find that he doesn't really mind it. he would've thought he'd be more stressed about the notion. he's always thought he'd be a terrible parent, after all.

he leans against the counter, curiosity twinkling in his sleepy eyes, one ankle crossed over the other. his hands leave his pockets, fingers toying with his rings instead. he doesn't know mj as well as he knows katherine, but he's equally willing to cover for her. especially when the skipping is for such a good cause.

"oh yeah?," he says. "that's cool as shit. I'm sure it'll help out a lot." he grins and gives a little salute. "you got it. not tellin' kelly."

Always remember intersectionallity is extremely important.

loveeee characters who think they're likable but not lovable. characters who know they have surface-level admirable or alluring traits and so make sure to highlight those traits so that nobody looks closer to see what's underneath. characters who know they're hot or clever or cool and use that as a suit of armor so that no one ever gets close to them, because when they strip bare and show their vulnerability they're not any of those things, which means they have nothing left to make up for who they inherently are

From the moment he met Chris, Zander had been interested in him. His looks attracted him first, and then his personality attracted him even more as he started to get to know the man he always saw so intensely working at his craft. There's something so magnetic about Chris. He doesn't know where he got the balls to ask him out, but he's glad he did.

"Sick, me too," he laughs, aware that Chris is probably underexagerating his own ability. He's proven correct when he gets his ass soundly beaten in Mario Kart; he's laughing and having a blast the whole time.

"You motherfucker," he cackles after the first cup. His face hurts from smiling. "'Oh, I'm only okay'. Whatever!"

ianus meows happily at cecil, and zander's smile widens, eyes soft as he watches. his eyes are usually soft when he looks at cecil-- that small crush he's been harboring since they met still hasn't gone away, despite his best efforts.

"glad you like it," he chuckles, sipping at his tea again before setting his mug down. even the coasters are goth, with little ghost patterns on them. his eyes light up when cecil asks after the taste of lavender. "ohhh. yeah, you are. that's lavender syrup. it's real nice with the chamomile, right?"
