i don't mean to bother you, but do you happen to have a solid/block color reference for devi's hair in IFS? i feel like every panel it's a slightly different shade, excluding how lighting plays into it. I think vol 1 it starts more purple & fades to a magenta by vol 2?? 😵‍💫 i'm starting my zine entry & i'd love a consistent color reference.

this is definitely not official, but if it helps at all, these are the colors that i use for her! :] the purple definitely starts to fade into magenta by issue 2 (which might be plot relevant, or could just be palette choice), so you could use whichever shade suits your fancy

i actually used to use the bottom one religiously for almost all my drawings in 2019-2021, but that was because i often shaded her hair in with pencil, so the color couldn't be too dark or it wouldn't show 🥴🥴

most accurate block pallet.

theres major problems with SLG printing. so the "fading" colors could be a printing error. for example i have one copy that leans more blue. the back cover especially was majorly tinted blue making devis hair more violet then the magenta then shes suppose to be.

shadows, base and highlight. book 1 vs book 2, which does change for the darker more urgent tone.

who wants a preview of extra crispy IFS pages?

alongside the JTHM coloring project i am remaking the IFS books to have a clean reprint available. after the frustration of having every copy of IFS I've owned always have some sort of messy printing/ printing error like offset giving characters double eyes/ color highlights at line work. and one copy having a dust/ ink smear streaked across multiple pages.

This username isn't terribly exciting. It's actually the name of my WordPress website, The Wrambling Webcomic Review which I started in 2019. I wanted some alliteration for the title of the site. The intentional misspelling of rambling for the "W" for a visual alliteration, and the "R" sound for rambling and review. A few years ago when WP did their entire AI push thing and paywalled a lot of Jetpack features, I spun the blog into its own website, with its own dotcom URL.

The idea for the blog was actually born out of desire to talk about the webcomic Home, but I didn't want to join the CCS group. I wanted to do my own thing, on my own terms. I also realized that I wanted a place where I could write about webcomics I was following in general, not just Home. (I also felt like the comic, The Order of the Black Dog needed more love.) The content would be like how other blogs did weekly TV show reviews, plus the occasional whole comic review. I knew webcomics probably wouldn't be a good match for my existing pop culture blog, Damage Control Blog. So that is why I created the WP site to begin with.

At some point I also realized I wanted a presence on Tumblr to talk to other bloggers, thus I went with the same name as my blog. I could have gone with the usual username I use elsewhere, Silver_Huskey, but I wanted this blog to be mostly focused on sharing webcomics, constructive criticism, reblogging art, and general art advice that people might find useful.

I will tag @reddogf13 @fenrisarts @dreaming-paradise-dixie and @karlobears. Don't feel any pressure to play this game, though.

mines even less exciteing. XD my first ever dog was a german shepard/rottie mix named max. he had a big black saddle patch on him along with more rottie dark markings. so my original username for a while was black dog. but that kept getting taken. so i switched to reddog and added f.13 - Friday the 13th, for my love of in general horror and bad luck objects.

comparisons to my older IFS print (2000) vs my newer print (2011, WITH the barcode) sorry for ugly scan on the newer copy.

i actually really like the colors on the newer copy, but they def seem to be wrong based off color comparing inside the books. both insides have devi with the more pink leaning colors.

but then, tennas colors on the new are more accurate against its insides. (and tennas a slightly more normal color on the older backing, lol.)

you can also see that the overall, newer backing, art was squished for some reason.

heres a crisp devi/ tenna & spooky from the back cover of IFS 1. a transparent lone ver of them and two separate ones of the spooky background for people to smack where ever with whatsit colors they choose. :v//

i recently got my hands on far earlier prints of IFS and grad i did as the back cover on my more recent copy was really warped. everything was far more tinted blue (making tenna her common sickly green and devi's pink/purple hair was more toward a violet blue. looked pretty but was weird.) and for some strange reason was stretched or rescaled before print.

lil' nightmare todd and a glimpse of nightmare Devi. she usually minds her business unless some dumb humans invade her space or try harming her adopted chicklet.

todd/ squee ended up with Devi after johnny snatched him from being eaten by his own parents. Devi didn't think he was responsible or stable enough to raise a chicklet, so now todds her chicklet.

so uh, I've been buying the carpe noctem magazines slowly and collecting what ever new extras i can. AND apparently the little vampire moose that opens for the directors cut has a dark origins story. (WTF XD)

Devi's paralysis demon does not enjoy intruders.

tempted to make this some mini fanfic. its still devnny week. >.> <.< totally not a whole new month.

Devi is continuously late to work because some horrific monster is terrorizing the streets. causing roads to be closed. after being repeatedly warned, her boss threatens to fire her. being the only competent one in town she tries solving the monster problem herself. suddenly discovering its johnny, she lures him home with a half bag of stale donuts in her car. expecting a horrifying monster she'd have to kill somehow with a makeshift home alone style trap. figuring out that its more of having a mangy stray cat that steals food off her plate if she doesn't watch it. she has developed sleep issues, unintentionally caused. first it was anxiety having johnny around, in general. then it became she needs him to sleep on the bed. after he repeatedly sneaks out when he doesn't. terrorizing the town again or sobbing in some alley way she has to find him in. slowly she figures out what his condition is and its strange effect on people. attracting quite the amount of assholes out of the woodwork of her apartment building. the concerning amount of worms infesting his body are actually just his own blood veins and tendons reacting aggressively toward others he hates. bones twisting free, new teeth, muscles snapping to reform. he commonly flings himself in a far away leap. only to horribly land in a fleshy splattered mulch pile that snaps itself together before skittering off. she never sees him eat in any way. his mouth stuck in a permanent grin locked shut. he cant even talk. yet food still goes missing. she eventually learns how hes feeling or "saying" by twitchy body language. still there's the major question of how he got this way.

I also used to say I was gonna make a jthm fan anime that never happened because I was just an idiot kid that didn't know how animation worked lmao.
