She flashes a thankful smile to Husk, making a mental note to properly thank him once she's taken care of her dad, before approaching her dad and crouching down so she's closer to his current eye level. There's a concerned look in her eyes. Of course she's concerned. But there's a mix of tiredness and something...unreadable as well.

"Hey, Dad...how're you feeling?"

[LUCIFER immediately tries to look 'normal', like everything's fine and hes not intoxicated.]

"hey-hey, char! everythings— everything's fine, why are, uh, why are you asking?"

Charlie has spent years around sinners who get high on any and all intoxicating substances they can get their hands on. She's friends with a drug addict, for fuck's sake. She knows when someone's high. But to see her Dad under the influence like this, it's...

"I'm fine, Dad."

The response is automatic. A phrase that comes out easier than it should woth how she actually feels.

"I'm just concerned about you, that's all."

She tries to keep her tone gentle, despite the slight panic at the back of her mind. She doesn't know what her dad is like while high. She didn't even know he got high. Was this a one-time thing? Or something regular he did behind her back?

She tries to ignore the other voices at the back of her head. She'd almost forgotten about the curse placed upon her. She's not a kid anymore. She can do this. She can handle anything that comes her way.

She'll try to figure out this whole "curse" thing at a later time. She's got more important things to worry about right now than hearing voices in her head.

Charlie's worried frown deepens as she listens to her father's ramblings. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. He's definitely high. And on at least one other thing according to an anon. That doesn't make her happy for multiple reasons. Being high on multiple things can have adverse effects and do more harm than good. She knows her dad is an angel but still...not to mention just the knowledge that her dad is like this and intended on keeping it from her. It hurts.

She almost flinches as her dad moves to touch her face, freezing for a second. It's strange. Normally, she's anything but touch-averse. Charlie loves showing her affection through hugs and handholding and other little touches. She shouldn't pull away from this. She shouldn't want to pull away from this. Why does she?...She melts into the contact after the second passes. She'll always crave attention and affection from her father, after all.

She can't beat around why she's here. She has to be direct.

Vaggi had been in the city when she saw someone unusual walking through the Entertainment District that day.

She kept her eye on this strange person until she witnessed what they were doing: freezing anyone that got in their path.

Immediately, she knew this was a concerning threat, and began to follow.

Soon, the figure walked up to Vee Tower and entered. Unable to get inside herself, she called Niffty and asked if she could follow this person.

Inside, she saw several unfamiliar faces. A strangely dressed man speaking with Valentino, a small fluffy goat speaking with the figure from before, and a purplish teenager speaking with Vox.

Niffty watched from the vents as the stranger spoke with Vox, and froze him solid.

She reported back to Vaggi, regrouping. Vaggi decided to continue shadowing this strange person with Niffty after they left the tower.

The two followed them all the way into a back alley, where a strange portal stood shimmering.

Once the figure stepped through the portal, they slipped through quietly, finding themselves in a strange and unfamiliar place…

Charlie rushes downstairs to where she sees her dad and Husk. She flashes a thankful smile to Husk, making a mental note to properly thank him once she's taken care of her dad, before approaching her dad and crouching down so she's closer to his current eye level. There's a concerned look in her eyes. Of course she's concerned. But there's a mix of tiredness and something...unreadable as well.

"Hey, Dad...how're you feeling?"

[LUCIFER immediately tries to look 'normal', like everything's fine and hes not intoxicated.]

"hey-hey, char! everythings— everything's fine, why are, uh, why are you asking?"

Charlie has spent years around sinners who get high on any and all intoxicating substances they can get their hands on. She's friends with a drug addict, for fuck's sake. She knows when someone's high. But to see her Dad under the influence like this, it's...

"I'm fine, Dad."

The response is automatic. A phrase that comes out easier than it should woth how she actually feels.

"I'm just concerned about you, that's all."

She tries to keep her tone gentle, despite the slight panic at the back of her mind. She doesn't know what her dad is like while high. She didn't even know he got high. Was this a one-time thing? Or something regular he did behind her back?

She tries to ignore the other voices at the back of her head. She'd almost forgotten about the curse placed upon her. She's not a kid anymore. She can do this. She can handle anything that comes her way.

She'll try to figure out this whole "curse" thing at a later time. She's got more important things to worry about right now than hearing voices in her head.

Night had fallen upon Pentagram City. All was dark and quiet. A perfect time to commit several crimes. It was for the greater good. Sure it was breaking and entering as well as some stealing but it was for the greater good! Poe's soul depended on it. Charlie could only hope the kid was okay. She didn't know anything about them besides their name so she could only hope they weren't in pain or afraid or doing who knows what against their will. Hope was all she had.

Well, hope and chicken wings. She'd decided on bringing raw wings for her and Alastor's...adventure. She'd also opted to dress in full black for the occasion, complete with a black beanie and mask. She definitely didn't look like she was trying to imitate something she saw in a spy movie once.

It was supposed to be a simple plan. They break in, Alastor distracts Vox while Charlie digs through his office and finds the contract, they get out and she gives the contract to her dad so he can destroy it. Poe is free and everything is resolved! Yay! No one gets hurt and everything is easy for once. She just hopes it works.

She eyes the building up and down before facing Alastor, a mix of determination and nervousness.

"Ready?"

And with that, Charlie pulls the door open and runs in, immediately making a beeline for where she'd been told Vox's office is. Time to get that contract!

*his office is on the very top floor of the building. it has a large desk opposite the door that has some drawers in it, the walls are mostly glass looking out into a giant aquarium that has some sharks swimming in it, and there is a rather odd looking creature, some sort of weird mix of a shark and a dog, curled up in one corner of the room. it doesn’t seem to notice Charlie*

Getting to the top floor of the building is an easy feat for Charlie. With how often she's running around the hotel and how bouncy and active she is in general, it's no trouble at all.

She eyes the creature inside the tank...this must be the shark she's heard about a couple times now. Charlie grips the container with chicken wings just a little bit tighter.

"Good shark, good shark...stay still please stay still please for the love of everything stay fucking still..."

She quickly but quietly shuffles over to the desk, keeping an eye on the aquarium wall the whole time. She starts pulling open drawers, looking for which one contains soul contracts, looking back at the wall every few seconds.

"C'mon, c'mon, where are you..."

*the shark-dog-thing stands up after a while, stretches, and then trots over to the desk and sits back down, staring at the container of chicken wings, head tilted to one side*

*there is a folder in the top left drawer full of soul contracts, Poe’s will be near the top of the stack of them*

Charlie nearly stares holes into the desk drawers as she pulls them open, scans for what she's looking for, closes the drawers, reopens them just to make sure she hasn't missed it...yeahh she might be panicking just a little bit. She doesn't know how long she'll have to look before she's discovered so she needs to go fast. But going fast means second-guessing. Which doesn't help anything. Or anyone.

She gasps as she opens one of the top drawers and finds a stack of what appears to be soul contracts peaking from behind a folder. One look at the top-most paper and she finds Poe's name written near the bottom. She snatches it with an eager grin.

"YES!"

...Too eager.

"...damnit."

Charlie freezes as the shark walks over to her, like a child who's been caught stealing from the cookie jar. Well...not an inaccurate comparison there. Way to fuck up at the end there, Charlie. Great job.

She fishes one of the chicken wings out of the container, extending her hand out to the creature.

"A-awwww such a good boy!...Girl?...Shark? Uh–here! Want a snack?...Please don't bite my hand off..."

Charlie definitely does not flinch as the shark creature takes the chicken from her hand. Nope, absolutely not. She will 100% say she did not flinch as metal teeth brush the palm of her hand and almost slice her skin. It...probably doesn't mean to hurt her. It seems friendly enough. This...this is fine.

"Here..."

She opens the container fully, stuffing the contract into her pocket.

"I will give you ALL of these if you let me go quietly. Does that sound good? Do we have a deal?"

Can this thing even understand what she's saying? Charlie has no idea. She's fairly sure the answer is no but on the off-chance the answer is yes, she hopes it will agree to her request.

"ALASTOR, I'M READY TO GO!"

Now all she has to do is bring the contract to her dad and Poe will be free! Of course, there's still how they'll get him back on Earth...but one problem at a time.
