@rederaserhead
I got a new idea hehehehehe (I haven’t seen it much, but that might be my own 'not searching' before I got the idea.)
But!
I really like the idea of the kids turning completely obsessive with Bruce. Not in a weird way. In the sense that, since legit every other parental figure in their life is dead/incapacitated/murdered. They only have Bruce.
So as they finally find solace in Bruce (in this hc it’s WetCatBattinson, cause he’s pathetic and l love him so much). They go completely insane with the idea that he could be killed, or even so much as hurt.
The first time they each see him stumble into the cave, and collapse onto the floor calling for Alfred, they all lose their minds. This is their new family and they can’t even protect it. They have to protect him. Protect him. Protect. Protect. Protect him.
Dick starts it of course, his family died in front of him, and he goes on a revenge spree. When he finally calms down and accepts Bruce’s genuine care for him, they go after him together. But when the worse villains then come on the radar. And Bruce gets severely hurt, Dick completely shuts down, he’s even more feral than before, screaming and yelling that he’ll kill everything, and he’s even freaking out at Alfred because Bruce seems uncomfortable in the treatment he’s doing. (he was resetting his dislocated shoulder).
Jason as well, he’s a street kid, and never really had true comfort, ever. And suddenly his life is a fairy tail, he has a strained relationship with his brother, but his new guardian seems to love him. It’s less sudden as it was with Dick, but no less than. It’s a gradual obsession, with everything he does, everyone he interacts with, goes to galas with, what is he doing when he’s not with Jason.
It certainly can’t be more important than him, certainly Bruce loves him more than anything, they’ve been fighting with their lives on the line together for so long now. Bruce loves him, more than anything right? Right?
He has to.
Jason loves him more than anything.
So Bruce has to love him just as much.
When Dick sees this child standing still, but absolutely seething when Commissioner Gordon put his arm around Batman when he was happy a case was finally over. And a small smile, was ever so slightly visible, on the otherwise emotionless Batman.
Dick recognizes that look, a look of deep possessiveness, one he saw in himself, before breaking off on his own in Blüd, but was sitting just beneath the surface. Bubbling up whenever he sees Bruce get hurt.
He pulls Jason aside, maybe making sure he doesn't go too far like he did, and lash out at the people near Bruce. He has to play this carefully if he wants to keep being right by his side. And to make sure Bruce is still happy. It would make him sad if his children went too far for him, even if they think it would be better for that scumbag who was flirting with Bruce, to die. They can't do that, not in public at least. They can uncover the scandals and make sure they're no longer on the guest list, but they can't go too far.
Bruce can't be sad.
Not because of them.
When Tim enters Bruce's life, his deep obsession has already been festering for so long. This is his idol, and he needs help. He needs Tim's help.
He needs him.
Like how much Tim needs him.
When he takes up the mantle, and Bruce is in his fragile mindset, worrying about Tim all the time, since he can't fuck up another time.
This is completely different from what Tim is used to. His idol worries about him, about what he eats, how much he sleeps, if he gets hurt and how he feels at all times.
This only fuels Tim's obsession even more, he's not just a hero, he's Tim's and Tim's hero alone. And Tim won't let anyone break him when he's spent so much time trying to build him up again. Nothing will get in the way of Bruce being happy, not the villains and certainly not some second rate annoyance at a gala, who's company Tim can make disappear overnight if he looks at Bruce that way again.
When Jason then comes back and the Titan's tower incident occurs, it goes a little differently.
Tim lets it slip that Bruce is his now, he doesn't need anyone other than him. He won't let anyone or anything make Bruce break down like that again.
Jason, like Dick, sees it. Sees this child become what he too was, and he ends up talking to him about what he means. Jason realizing that everything Talia told him, maybe wasn't as true as he thought, maybe Bruce really did care.
Tim might recognize this as a chance to make Bruce even more happy, so he doesn't have to read pride and prejudice while crying to the grave anymore. Won't have that shimmer of sadness in his eye anymore when he looks at the display case in the cave anymore. That Alfred decided was a good idea. It had been an interesting week when Tim uncovered that little titbit, but had shelved it when it had made Bruce sad that they were fighting.
So Tim will entertain the idea of Jason also getting space in Bruce's life, if it resulted it him being more happy. Like it did when Dick was there.
And Jason will take the time to uncover what truly happened while he was gone, maybe his parental love for Bruce wasn't as shallow as he had thought, while he was presumed dead.
So while Jason still finds fault in Bruce's methods, now it also has the undertones that if these scumbags continue to walk. They'll continue to hurt Bruce. And if Tim sends a list of people who needs a good scare for making Bruce uncomfortable, then nobody has to know.
When Damian makes his appearance, it seems to rock everything once again.
Damian has had to listen to both his mother and grandfather talk about this almost perfect specimen. How he was going to be the truly perfect one.
How could he not be obsessed with this man, he's supposed to be him perfectly, and then be even more.
When he finally meets him, he might start out wondering what was even special about him, but slowly he also starts learning why not giving in to killing is almost harder.
He starts seeing who he truly is as a hero, why people look to him as a beacon of hope.
While his obsession started extremely high, falling a little flat, but then taking on a new light, that almost makes it hard for it to not become even stronger than before.
Tim is now the one to see it, how Damian eat the same, trains the same, talks, and walk the same way as Bruce. Almost trying to entirely engulf Bruce's existence into his own. But it's also tittering on too much, it's worrying Bruce. And Tim can't have Bruce become sad because the new child, and if his disappearance would make him even more sad, he'll just have to show him the right way to go about this.
Tim talks to Damian about how it might not be a need to become Bruce, but because Bruce has now become what Damian has always needed in his own life, a strong force that would be the good for the many, taking not the easy way out, but the right way. An existence that sees Damian for what he is, and not what he needs to become.
Cassandras obsession is almost overflowing after a few weeks after being welcomed into the family. Never feeling safe, but now having a place that she can return to and call home. And people who accept her and her past. Working with her to make it better.
She strives to be better in the way her new parent wants her to. But also sees how this life is breaking him down, how he bleeds and hurts for the city, for the city to then still treat him like a criminal.
She saw how it was breaking him down when he couldn't be there for his family, and when the newspapers were speaking badly of his choice as CEO. And the sadness in his eyes when he's too late to a disaster, putting the blame on no one but himself.
Tim and Damian both see how she lingers in the shadows, how she'll put herself at risk to make sure more people get out safely, and how she doesn't seem to care about her injuries until Bruce would pull her to his side to protect her, which only seemed to distress her even more that he's focusing his time to protect her when she could protect herself.
They both sit her down, trying their best to explain how their health is absolutely essential to keeping Bruce happy, if they get hurt he'll be sad, so they cannot get hurt unless absolutely no other option is available.
They explain how to keep Bruce happy, what to avoid with him, how to get him out of situations he doesn't like in public. And how best, to make sure no one harms him.
No one will harm Bruce Wayne
not if his kids have any say in it.
(even if that someone is himself)
~~~~~~
This is a very rambling idea, but I really like obsessive characters. And it fits in my head that the kids absolutely have the potential of turning entirely obsessed with their new parent, since at this point, they don't have anything else.
I did the characters I'm familiar with most, since I'm not entirely clear on Steph/Barbara/Duke. And Duke/Barbara still have parents. Steph also had the potential for obsession when she wants to become Robin, but I'm not sure enough to write it out.
This might also be my more calm version of this take, so tell me if you want a little more feral one too hahahahah
my idea for this was also inspired by this post, by @siriusly-dc
as well as the wonderful fic ‘Your Beauty Is That of Gentle Winter, My Dearest’ By @ocyus-stuff
I made a more feral pt. 2
I bet Clark Kent is big on hand kisses. And Bruce loves it.
Like it probably started out as a joke—maybe a cute little callback to Bruce’s royal ancestry, or because Clark had seen Bruce do it to the ladies at a gala and wanted to treat his similarly aristocratic lover correspondingly. Either way, it somehow became Clark’s #1 Favriote Form of Affection because he can do it anytime.
Not allowed to kiss in the JL meeting? Whelp, B never said that Clark can’t take his hand and give him a lil peck through the glove. (B might grumble but he can’t change his rules without looking like a hypocrite.)
Hasn’t finished his coffee, and is still too grouchy for a kiss before Clark leaves for work? Hand kisses for the win. It makes the kids giggle and Bruce’s palms are always warm from his mug—and Bruce usually isn’t verbal in the morning so it’s not like he can complain.
At a gala, when they’re out as Brucie and Clark Kent? Hand kissing is the perfect way to show affection without the allowing the tabloids the opportunity to peer too far into their personal life.
And you know Bruce grumbles and complains and pulls his hand away sometimes because he is not in the mood, Clark… but it still makes him loved.
Clark is like one of those therapy dogs who can just detect sadness in people.
He's been able to do it for as long as he can remember. As a kid, he could just inexplicably feel when his pa was stressing about bills, or when his ma was upset about burning the Christmas pecan pie.
So when Clark starts working with Batman regularly, he damn near falls out of the sky, because gadzooks, this man needs help. Batman is almost perpetually oozing the silent signs of depression. Clearly, he needs a buddy. A pal. Someone to hover super close to him until he starts to feel better.
Bruce is constantly wondering why the hell Clark feels the need to press against his back instead of just standing a few feet behind him like a normal person. He never quite figures out that Clark (again, like a therapy dog) is trying to regulate his nervous system with warm and friendly physical contact.
@heyyallitssatan
#(Clark comes over to the cave and gets stressed about the amount of stress around him there's too many people who need hugs right now) #(he magically manages to coax them into some sort of move night where he casually invites a cuddle pile he is so fucking happy about it
How dare you hide this true gem in the tags you genius
Imagine Clark showing up to Wayne Manor and just sobbing because the walls and the furniture and the damn carpets exude depressant anxiety hormones. What is he supposed to do? Worm is way over every inch of the place like a sponge? Moonwalk on the cieling until the chandelier smells happier? He just helplessly collects all of the Robins into his arms like he's picking up dolls and refuses to put them down until they start to feel okay. Then he sobs again when he sees Bruce because "I can't carry you without crushing the babies, and they still need more hugs..."
Batboys who, when they’ve upset someone in their lives who they care about, just buy them copious amounts of things they like because that’s how Bruce tries to rectify his small mistakes with his children
Wally: Hey, Dick? Did you order basketball tickets?
Dick: Oh, yeah. Last week. I ate your leftovers and you were upset about it, so I got you tickets for your favorite team in apology.
Wally: …thank you? Weren’t these expensive though? It’s the finals.
Dick: :)
Roy: Hey, Jaybird, did you get a new toolbox?
Jason: It has your name engraved on it.
Roy: I saw that.
Jason: Apology for when I forgot to lock the bedroom door when you asked, and Lian walked in on us
Roy: That was, like, a month ago? And I wasn’t even mad?
Jason: Engraving takes a long time.
They don’t hate Clark, not really. But the first time Bruce shows up with a faint bruise on his throat and that rare soft look in his eyes, the one that says he’s let his guard down for someone, the kids notice.
Dick corners Clark first. Smiling, charming, terrifying. "You break him, I break you. Metaphorically. Probably."
Jason’s more direct: "You’re invincible, right? Cool. Means I can shoot you and you’ll still hear me out."
Tim hacks into the Watchtower comms just to monitor all conversations involving "Kent", "Wayne", and "emotional compromise".
Damian doesn’t even pretend. "Never let your guard down"
Clark takes it all with patient. He understands that Bruce is hard-won and fragile in ways no one sees.
But later, when Bruce is curled into his side on the couch, half-asleep and mumbling complaints, Clark whispers into his hair, "Your kids threatened me today." Bruce huffs a laugh. "They'll like you." Clark smiles. "Good. I’ll earn it. For you."
And the next time they all have dinner together, the kids don’t threaten him, they just pass him the salt. That’s progress, well, that's what Clark thinks.
and while i’m on a self indulgent thing? i think that any of the kids calling Bruce “dad” changes his whole demeanor. it helps him know that whatever they’re talking about is serious.
hearing his name shouted across the house does nothing for him. a hundred people say his name all day, including his kids. whatever the situation is can be fixed.
but hearing “Dad!”, cried out in battle or screamed from the other room, has him rushing to their side. what is it love and i’m here you’re alright and shh i’ve got you
“Bruce, I need help” = can’t open this large jar, have a question about math homework, need someone to look at this case file for me
“Dad, I need help” = I am hurt. I am scared. I am in danger. I need you to make things better. I need you to protect me.
Coolest kid to ever exist
I saw a kid w LED light shoes running around and i said “hmm….Damian” and so here it is lol. Idc if this is OOC but hes just a kid after all lmfao
Alright! So I really like the trope that sometimes Bruce will just go into Dad-mode around the JL, without even thinking about it :
He keeps extra hairbands in his belt for when Dick had long hair, Steph and Cass, and when Duke had long dreads, they all somehow forgot themselves to bring some along, so Batman always had some.
So when Diana is talking about wanting to step up to fight on the intergalactic planet they're currently on, he mindlessly digs into the pocket and hands her a hairband, while still talking to Hal about the combat plan.
When Flash in stuffing his face halfway off the chair in his indulgence, Bruce is reminded of Tim, eating his breakfast while halfway asleep after the third all nighter. Bruce reaching over the table to wipe the syrup from the waffles off his little face before cupping his face in his hand as he falls asleep.
And while thinking of his little son, he reaches over to the pile of napkins and when Flash is somewhat in the same place he carefully daps the napkin on his face, getting the bit of chocolate smudge off, as he balances his tablet with his other hand, reading the latest reports on the upcoming mission.
While at the aftermath of a battle Hal is starting to look a little wary, feeling the affects of being in combat for 2 days straight and having to stay focused the entire time for his constructions to work at their best. He was also the main component for the big plan and was exhausted. So when he was trying to stand tall and look menacing, Bruce saw the slight tremble of his hands be his side. And he was reminded of his first few nights with Robin!Jason. The small boy who was always trying to act tough and like he was always in control, but some nights, he would be scared and too worried to show it. Bruce would ever so slowly inch towards his tense Vigilante Partner, and ever so slowly let his cape fall over his shoulders, inviting the smaller to lean on him.
So while Diana was talking to the diplomates to arrange a stand-down on their side, Bruce slowly inched towards Hal, and while the height difference was nothing like Batman and Robin, Bruce was still a bit taller than Hal. So as he now stood shoulder to shoulder with the man, he ever so slightly offered one arm towards him, which Hal squinted at slightly but was clearly also too tired and exhausted to come with a quip. He instead took a step closer and leaned into Bruce, letting him take the weight, and sighed heavily.
And while late night talking with Clark, who's talking a mile a minute. About work, Superhero work, Luthor, Lois, Jimmy. Barely finishing a sentence before he goes off track to the next subject, Bruce is silently listening, keeping an ear out for trouble, but looking at Clark waving his arms around wildly. Bruce can almost picture all of his kids doing the same, on a rant about something they're angry about, excited, frustrated or flustered about. Trying to simply get their voice out, simply to talk all of their thoughts, or to get feedback, though mostly the first one.
So he does what he does to all of them, calmly sets a hand on their shoulder, makes them look him in the eyes and breathe deeply, to calm down and try to figure out what he's supposed to do to help. Come with solutions or simply listen. And while Bruce and Clark are shoulder to shoulder sitting on this rooftop with the sun slowly peeking out over the horizon. His shoulder wasn't really an option, his hand instead found Clark's thigh, and the sound of chatter instantly ceased, a shaky breath left the other's lips. Bruce sighed at the silence, he almost hadn't noticed how focused he was on Clark's voice.
Their eyes met, and Clark's breath stuttering once more, he seemed almost winded, maybe from talking this much? Bruce thought. As he was about to tell Clark to slow down a bit, his hand on his thigh was seized in a tight grip. Bruce's eyes fluttered slightly, he wasn't expecting Clark to grab his hand. And before he could comment, Clark also seized his lips. A light kiss in the morning light.
my hc is that the batkids are having a bet on who's going to confess first between Bruce and Clark and like sometimes if one of the two would make a move, they'd have to tally it up to see who's got the better chance of winning.
Dick who's a team clark: Yeah no sht kids, I've known Bruce longer than any of you ever did, trust me, that would rather swallow a bomb than confessing his feelings.
Jason, also team clark: hate to say it but i'm afraid this prick is right, Bruce is just too much of a hard stone to even try to make a move.
Steph, dedicated to be being team bruce: oh here goes the old geezers, trying to justify their misjudgment just because they got the senior citizen card to bruce's life.
Cass, also in team bruce: yeah guys, maybe try giving bruce a chance? he's not that stoic and emotionless.
meanwhile tim is the one who keeps the count of the tally in tact, duke is the one who keeps his eyes on both teams, and damian who could give less of a damn because so what? at the end of the day if the two confess to e/o, they'd still end up together.
meanwhile somewhere in the JL tower:
Bruce: *discussing something important to the team*
Clark: *using his superhearing, too invested to the kids' bet on him and their father* Hmm..
Bruce: Clark, focus.
Clark: hm, the kids are having a bet in us on who'll confess first.
Barry: woah, they don't know it yet??
Bruce: That me and Clark are dating? no. Didn't train them all for so many years for them to not figure it out.
Clark: *charmed by Bruce's logic* I love you.
“What are you doing?”
Bruce startles suddenly as a young voice distracts him from the delicious kisses Clark happened to be giving him. “Dickie? Sweetheart what are you doing here?” Bruce questioned softly, pulling away from Clark’s hold and rushing over to his ward. “Are you okay? Did something happen?” Bruce questioned softly.
Dick didn’t seem to be paying attention as Bruce picked him up and cradled him in his arms, instead, he was entirely focused in on Clark standing awkwardly by the table they were just making out on.
“What were you doing?” Dick questioned again, making Clark squirm. The kid’s bright blue eyes were staring into his soul, no trace of the jovial warmth that they usually held.
“Well…” Bruce started, Clark could see his mind moving at a million miles per hour trying to find the best way to explain what happening to the 10 year old. “You know how I told you Clark and I are special friends?”
“Yes… I thought that it just meant best friends.” Dick scowled, finally looking away from Clark and pouting up at Bruce. “I didn’t know that meant kissy friends.”
Bruce made a face and Clark decided now was probably the best time for him to step in and say something. Clark cleared his throat softly and stepped closer to the two. “Um, Dick-“
Clark was cut off by a very sharp glare from the young boy, his lips curled back in a snarl that made the indestructible man pause.
“Chum-“
“Tati, I’m sleepy…” Dick suddenly whined, throwing his arms around Bruce’s neck and burying his face in his shoulder. “Can we go home now? Want you to read me a bedtime story…”
Bruce immediately melted, cooing softly as he patted Dick on the back. “Of course my love, let’s go home right now.” Bruce agreed, throwing Clark an apologetic smile. “I’ll see you later Kal.”
Clark couldn’t help the love sick smile spreading across his face as he watched Bruce walk away, however, Dick could very much help it. Clark’s smile slid off his face once he saw the evil glare the ten year old was throwing at him over Bruce’s shoulder.
He couldn’t help shivering from the chill he felt crawling up his back. “Shit.” Clark muttered, running a hand through his hair.
He had the smallest inkling he just ruined any good grace he had with the young boy due to his romantic relationship with Bruce. How is it that he’s so scared of such a little boy?
Bruce pulled off his sweaty shirt in Ma Kent's kitchen along with Clark and Hal, and began chugging a lemonade. The three men had been doing something that apparently constituted hard manual labor in the barn. Zatanna watched silently, then she noticed it.
A tattoo on Bruce's abs. Some foreign symbols engraved in calligraphic form.
It was possible the world was coming to an end.
She turned her head to try and read it. It was Kryptonian, if she had to take a guess.
Bruce noticed where her gaze was. "My eyes are up here," he said.
"I know," said Zatanna, rolling hers. "I just...since when do you have a tattoo?"
"Since I lost a bet to my kids," said Bruce.
"You let your kids do this to you?" Zatanna was incredulous.
"It's been five years, Zee," said Clark. "Are you seriously noticing it now?"
"Well, I don't make a habit of staring at Bruce's nude form," she replied, her sentence heavy with implication.
Clark blushed and dropped his spectacles.
"What's next," said Zatanna bitterly to Bruce. "I find out you're part of a biker gang?"
"You don't become a biker with just one tattoo," said Hal. "You need an entire sleeve of them."
"Don't give him any ideas," Zatanna cautioned.
"You're overreacting," said Clark.
"The world is in a delicate state of balance," said Zatanna. "The very foundations of my existence are being rocked. I'm questioning everything I've ever known."
"I should probably start paying rent for all the space I occupy in your head," said Bruce.
"The tattoo is actually a very sweet phrase," said Clark. "In Kryptonian."
"What does it mean?"
Bruce cleared his throat and shook his head warningly at Clark. Clark grinned.
"It means," Clark said, "My soul is in two halves, and one of them belongs to you."
Bruce buried his head in his hands. Clark laughed. "Like I said. A very sweet phrase."
"You're going to suffer for this," muttered Bruce to him. "I was okay with it, as long as no one knew what it fucking meant."
"Oh stop," said Hal, grinning without shame. "Stop with the toxic masculinity. Just because you have a soppy declaration of love on your abdomen doesn't make you any less of a man." He raised his glass to Bruce in a toast.
Bruce looked at him levelly, and narrowed his eyes. "One of these days, Jordan," he growled, "you will do something, and on that day—"
"Oh, I doubt it," Hal smirked. "I think you've set the bar pretty high."
"Well," said Clark, with a cheeky grin, "Bruce learned his lesson about betting against all of his kids simultaneously, but I would say the punishment was a bit disproportionate to the crime."
Bruce was putting on his t-shirt. "Enough," he said. "No one else finds out, or I will see that you all pay."
"No one else finds out what?" asked Diana from the kitchen door, where she had evidently just arrived. Her arms were crossed against her chest. Barry and Oliver were lined up behind her, with curious expressions.
Zatanna and Hal laughed maliciously. Clark did not look displeased in the slightest.
Bruce's mouth hardened and he stalked off, muttering something about contingency plans. But no one saw the small smile that tucked itself into the corner of his mouth afterwards, when he remembered Clark's face.
Kryptonians. His fingers brushed over the tattoo. And all the ways they love to claim you.
Sit in your parent’s lap like you did when you were a kid
The rescue is brutal.
By the time Dick and Tim dig Bruce out from the wreckage and lift the broken omega into the jet, Jason is completely silent. His face is locked in something too sharp to be grief, too tight to be rage, his jaw clenched, eyes glassy and breathing shallow.
He doesn't speak the entire way home.
Bruce is unconscious: leg broken, ribs caved in, pheromones muted, like they're fading with him.
The moment the medbay doors shut, Jason disappears.
-----
They find him three hours later in the hallway outside the infirmary, sitting on the cold tile floor. Still in his gear, blood dried on his gloves, helmet discarded. He's leaning against the wall, head back, eyes red; not from crying, from not crying.
Tim tries to talk to him. Jason doesn't respond.
-----
When Bruce finally stabilizes (still unconscious, still pale, but breathing) Jason slips into the room without a sound.
He stands over the bed like a ghost, staring down at the battered form that was once a savior to him, the omega who taught him how to ride a bike, how to patch a stab wound, how to survive.
Now Bruce is laid out in front of him like a corpse: IVs in his arms, bandages covering half his body, his nest (the one Alfred set up while he was out) is faintly scented, but wrong, too sterile, too cold.
Jason doesn't even realize he's shaking.
He sinks down to his knees beside the bed. Reaches out, barely touching Bruce's hand.
And then it happens.
-----
"You almost died"
His voice comes out wrecked, soft, childlike. Nothing like the Jason they know.
"You were supposed to be stronger than this. You're Batman. You're—you"
He squeezes Bruce's hand like it's the only thing keeping him alive.
"I was just starting to trust you again, I was just starting to think maybe I wasn't broken beyond fixing, and then you go and—"
His voice breaks.
"—and you almost die, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that!"
The scent in the room turns violent: gunpowder and scorched leather, blistering grief and heat sick fury.
Jason presses his forehead to the side of the bed, his shoulders trembling.
"I waited for you" he whispers "For years in that grave, in the shadows. I waited for you to come find me, to fix it, to hold me, and you never did"
He lets out a strangled, broken laugh.
"And now you almost die before I get that back? Before I get my dad back? Is that it?"
There's no answer. Bruce doesn't wake.
Jason curls closer, like a child crawling into bed during a thunderstorm. He's too big for it now (armor clunking against the mattress, boots squeaking against the frame) but he doesn't care, he curls up with his head near Bruce's chest, needing to feel that faint, fragile heartbeat.
"Say something" he whispers "Please"
Silence.
"I need you... Again"
-----
Jason falls asleep there, scent leaching into the sheets, turning the whole bed into a territorial alpha's claim.
When Bruce finally wakes up hours later (eyes blurry, ribs aching, body heavy) he finds his second son curled against him, one arm still wrapped over his hip like a frightened pup who doesn't know how to ask to be held.
Bruce lays a trembling hand on Jason's head.
"…I missed you too, Jay"
Jason doesn't respond.
But he doesn't move away either.
(OMEGA VERSE)
Bruce is the only omega in his pack, All of his children are alphas who always seek his pheromones to calm down, to feel safe or simply for comfort.
Some of his children days before entering their rut would stay closer to him, some even start sleeping with him during this time (NOTHING BUT SLEEP, THEY ONLY SEEK THE WARM HUG OF THEIR FATHER AND HIS PROTECTIVE PHEROMONES), but there was one kid that wouldn't seek for him and that was Jason.
Their relationship has improved a lot, they still fight from time to time but they resolve their differences more easily, Bruce realizes that the only one of his pups that never joins him in his nest is Jason and even though he feels sad because of this he doesn't want to force his precious son to do anything he didn't want to do.
One day Bruce had fallen deeply asleep in his nest and woke up feeling a weight on his chest and legs, he thought it was Dick or possibly Cass but great was his surprise when he saw Jason there, holding onto him tightly, as if afraid to let go, Bruce said nothing, just shifted a little so he could hug the man next to him, who trembled a little but stayed still, none of them said something.
From this day forward, Jason would frequently join Bruce at bedtime, after all, even though he didn't want to admit it, he really missed being wrapped in his father's arms while his pheromones helped him to sleep better like when he was still a kid.
