Re-reading ‘Map Of The Hidden World’ by Tash Aw, a really good book set in the 1960s of South-East Asia. Details the story of Adam who was separated from his brother, Johan, back in the orphanage. Adam is then adopted by a Dutch painter, Karl. But Adam loses him too when the Indonesian military imprison him set after the colonial era of Indonesia. It’s very much a story of self-discovery, and as a girl born part Dutch and part Indonesian it certainly hits home.

Work has been chaotic to say the least. They told us we’re closing our store the day before we did like how professional is that? And the new store I’m working at is farther away and so much busier and I get home late every night so I don’t even have any more energy to do homework. But it’s nice to hear when people say they appreciate us working despite everything going on and I’m grateful that I still have a job. I have 3 exams next week and a presentation and a whole lot of homework that I’m trying to do this weekend. It’s really hard to focus in my own room but I’m trying my best. Hope everyone stays safe and sane during these trying times 🌸
