This is Rachel (let’s call her Rachel for now). She’s a 34 year old nurse, working at St. Sebastian’s Rehabilitation center for the Elderly. It’s basically a small clinic for the elderly that are close to death. Despite the fact that her driver’s license indicates she’s 34, Rachel is actually much older. She’s about a hundred and fifty years old, a full bred witch who loves her life as lucidly as possible. Rachel’s a kind woman at heart. The early death of her husband condemned her to sell her soul. During the 1890’s her husband was suffering from poliomyelitis, which wiped out hundreds upon hundreds of citizens by the month. Rachel did whatever she could to aid him. She left no stone unturned until finally—a handsome man approached her and offered her a solution. Her soul in exchange for magic that will be able to cure her husband. Blinded with love, Rachel took the deal. Only, she had no idea that her husband was already dead in their living room floor. And all her tribulations had been for nothing. Rachel grieved, Rachel wept, Rachel tried again and again to bring him back. She poured through book after book, lore after lore, leaving nothing to chance—and yet, there was nothing that could awaken him. There was an emptiness inside of her; she felt branded, condemned, broken. She was less than whole, her whole life had just been robbed from her and she had no will to live anymore.
Rachel never tried to kill herself. She was a lot stronger than that. She lived struggled through each day, disgusted at herself and her apparent weakness. Eventually, she came to herself, instead of wallowing in self-pity, she set out to help others. Sick people who were on the verge of death like her husband. She never tried to enhance their lives, she tried to make their last moments on earth as peaceful as she could. Sometimes she healed, but that was only in cases where the person had a chance of surviving without her. Never again did Rachel want to force life upon someone who was destined for death. She learned from her mistakes the first time around, the least she could do was repent. Eventually, Rachel cloaked herself with immortality (some witches die like humans, while others do a spell to make them ageless/timeless) intent upon serving as many years on earth as her magic would allow. Her life’s mission was to help as many people as she could.
More than a hundred and twenty years down the road and not much has changed. Now, let’s fast forward to Rachel and Aiden’s relationship. Aiden is a Djinn. Like Rachel, he has a massive streak of compassion for humanity. He seriously wears his heart on his sleeve.
Rachel catches Aiden one day, and she’s convinced he’s the worst thing in the world, because she sees his tattoos light up and his eyes turn blue and he’s holding a small needle in his hand. It’s her life’s goal to watch over these helpless people, so when she spots Aiden for the first time, she magically kicks his fucking ass—and stops when he finally explains what he’s doing. At first, she doesn’t believe him. Who would ever believe a Djinn? They’re dwellers who hide in darkness, kidnap women, children, and men, and slowly purge them of their lives. His kind was frowned upon in the civil creature society. Aiden offers to show her what he’s doing—he willingly tells her to look inside his head and see what he’s been doing for the past two hundred and fifty years. Finally, after she realizes that he’s telling the truth, she’s -- quited awed at his lifestyle and choices.
That first encounter is over seven years ago. I want Aiden and Rachel to be really good friends. Maybe they’ve fooled around on one occasion or another. They’re both magnificently empathic, they’re both attracted to one another, and they are both themselves when they’re around each other. These two are not finals, but I really like the idea of her being a current girlfriend/friend with benefits/really close friend kind of thing. It’s weird I know, but—I just want these two beautiful souls to co-exist! If you’re taking this request, don’t ditch. It’s very rude. If you’re taking Rachel, make sure that you’re going to stick around for the long haul!
