Clogg and Badrang Rambles…Because there’s not much content of them as a (sort of, used to be) couple and I got ideas from rewatching their scenes together in Martin The Warrior.
- Clogg is the only guy Badrang knows who kills without mercy while also having an (almost) innocent and wholesome side (believes in magic and good luck, most likely to wish on a shooting star, probably still believes in Santa Clause). Sometimes it’s annoying but Badrang also finds it funny and adorable.
-When they were shipmates, Clogg made it his personal mission to make Badrang laugh. He made an absolute fool of himself but he succeeded multiple times (usually in secret but Badrang couldn’t always hide a giggle or snort).
- Badrang has always called him ‘Cloggy’. He never used Clogg’s first name unless he was serious with him.
- Woodlanders who have been their slaves since the ship days can recall all sorts of misadventures between Badrang and Clogg.
- There is nothing Clogg could say or do that would shock Badrang anymore. That sea dog has drunkenly proposed marriage (multiple times actually), searched for mermaid gold, found a way to make wine from seaweed, pulled Badrang into dancing with him, came up with glory and romantic fantasies of them together and had even said he wanted a child at one point.
- Side note here, Clogg doesn’t really know where babies come from. Well, he kind of does but he thinks that ‘doing the deed’ with anyone automatically means one of them is going to have a baby. This lead to very awkward conversations between him and Badrang. He still doesn’t get it!
- Also yes, Clogg has proposed to Badrang more than once. Several times even after they were already married and so many more times after their divorce (always when drunk).
-No one really knows what their marriage was like (due to their crew and soldiers being sworn to secrecy and their slaves losing the plot) but Clogg and Badrang mutually agreed on the divorce…The part where they didn’t quite work as a married couple I mean.
- As divorced exes, they fight over everything!
- Though he will never admit it, Badrang knows Clogg is the only beast who ever truly loved him and part of him still loves him despite everything.
- Clogg has conflicted feelings about Badrang’s death. He’s glad the constant bickering is over but he has also sworn to kill Martin if he ever ran into him (huge emphasis on if there).
- Badrang was (sort of) protective of Clogg. He was less likely to fall for scams and magic tricks when they were married.
- The cause of their divorce was likely due to both of them wanting all the gold, slaves and power for themselves. There was probably other reasons but that was the biggest one.
- Badrang was ‘the one that got away’ for Clogg. Yeah he had other relationships since then (none that stuck though) but he never really got over Badrang.
- Clogg’s crew and Badrang’s army secretly kept score of all the times they fought and/or acted like they could be getting back together. This score goes back to when they were married.
- Martin, Felldoh, Keyla and other younger slaves likely didn’t know much about Badrang and Clogg’s crazy history but Barkjon did. He and older slaves filled them in on the drama!
- If he had any capacity for love, Badrang showed it to Clogg at one point in time. He may never say it but he truly did love Clogg as much as his cold heart could have.
