idk if anybody on here knows or reads the Redwall series but heres some Matthias and Cornflower sketchies ive done
Okay, so I know Redwall (the first book) contains many traces of the human world—Cluny’s rumoured Portuguese heritage, for example, or Abbot Mortimer’s acquaintance, the town dog. But this line is the best. Because this is The Monarch of the Glen:
Painted in 1851 by Sir Edwin Landseer.
And “the stag at eve” is from Sir Walter Scott’s famous 1810 poem, The Lady of the Lake.
Epic.
I love the supporting cast of redwall so much
Close ups under the cut:)
Love this poem in Mariel Of Redwall.
So something I have not seen mentioned regarding the Redwall TV Show is you can sing the Tapestry Riddle to the theme song.
Start singing about 5 seconds in/when more instruments are added.
Who says that I am dead.
Knows nought at all.
I am that is.
Two mice within Redwall.
The Warrior sleeps ‘Twixt Hall and Cavern Hole.
I am that is, Take on my mighty role.
At 22 seconds stop singing and wait (If you watch the theme song when Cluny comes on)
At 38 (when Matthias comes back) Finish singing the second half. You have to sing pretty fast.
Look for the sword. In moonlight streaming forth, At night, when day’s first hour Reflects the North.
From o’er the threshold Seek and you will see
If you sing it correctly Martin will start speaking this line as you get to it.
I - am that is, My sword will wield for me.
I figured this out as a kid, so the second half isn't a 100% perfect however if you listen closely to the first half the music almost sounds like it's trying to say the riddle.
Got sucked into watching Redwall again. Forgot how much I love Constance, the badger. She's so resourceful. 🦡🦡🦡
Abbot Mortimer: What are you all doing up here?!? It better not be violent...or involve death...🐀
Constance and Matthias: Crimes! 🦡🐀
Basil: MURDER! 🐇
Cornflower: Just be safe while you murder!🐁
Matthias: Okay, dear🐀
Abbot Mortimer: alkfklafjlajf;;; !!!!!🐀
Whoops, I did it again! And by "it" I mean commission the wonderful grynnly on Instagram to bring my Redwall gremlin to life.
Here's some backstory (set somewhere between Mattimeo and Pearls of Lutra) :
Plumbago, was born to the sea on a southern isle (could it be Redwall canon Greece? Depends if Portugal is a thing or not), and early on got into the family business of sailing under sunlit sails and over illuminated waves.
Then pirates struck, leaving her scarred and alone, missing an ear and half her tail. Rage drove her to hunt them down, but vengeance brought her neither peace nor her kith and kin back.
So she wandered up North, into Mossflower Wood, where she lives apart yet friendly with Redwall’s creatures, a quiet shadow among feasts and seasons, ever ready with her dagger if trouble comes, and with a friendly quip to those who aren't afraid to approach her.
But dark tides reach Mossflower Woods, as the child of one pirate she felled now seeks her, blade sharp and heart full of revenge. And so new adventures stir, and Plumbago must decide: to flee again, or face the echo of her own wrath.
