Reed and Shane Taken by Castor Athas circa January, 2025
@reedamonglions
She couldn’t help the terribly amused snigger at his expense when she reminded him that she had people who relied on her, and he seemed less than patient despite his words stating otherwise. Her delight died an excruciating death, however, when he leaned in so close that she could feel the puff of air exhaled with each word he practically purred into her ear, and when Reed leaned back to view her face, he’d find his girlfriend absolutely dumbstruck. Shane’s full lips were parted softly, chest rising and falling sharply as she sucked oxygen into her lungs in erratic pants. Her eyes were distant and glazed over, as if she were seeing something no one else could, and color rode high in her angular cheekbones. Perhaps the most telling reaction came with the not-as-subtle-as-she’d-like shift in her posture, her thighs pressing together to try and relieve some of the ache she’d sworn hadn’t been there a moment ago. She swallowed thickly as goosebumps blossomed over every inch of exposed flesh, and it was only when he spoke to her about fucking Evander Carrow that she cleared her throat and snapped out of it. Shrugging out of her jacket to reveal a rather easy to spot new piece of artwork branded into the skin of her shoulder, Shane jerked her chin up and down in a nod. She didn’t even care about the standing threat against the male twin, she just needed to make her excuses so they could get the fuck out of there. “I’ll be right back,” she promised vehemently, nearly tripping over her own feet on her way to get to her friends and make her excuses.
Reed tried to keep the gloating out of smile when he pulled back and it looked like Shane had malfunctioned, shorted out while trying to load up the thought he had planted. His gaze was hungry as she slipped out of her jacket, but he was reaching out to touch as soon as his eyes fell to the new piece of artwork, fingers skimming over the lines in admiration. Reed wasn’t going to have any blank skin left by the end of this year, since every time he wanted to feel physically or mentally close to Shane his first instinct was to offer up another piece of skin for her to mark. Before he could remark on it she had slipped out his grasp to go say goodbye to her friends. Without Shane by his side to judge him, he cut the drink line, ignoring the cries of protest as he gestured to himself as one of the winning Quidditch members in one of the douchiest displays of all time. He hoped James had witnessed it. He drained the small cup while he waited for her, setting it down on a nearby by table as she came back. One of his favorite things about her size was that she fit perfectly against his side, head coming to rest somewhere under his shoulder as he led her out of the portrait hole and into the cool and empty hallway. The bloody library was a better bet than the seventh year Gryffindor boys dorm, and he said a silent prayer that no one had ruined his bed yet. “Sunflower, huh?”
The completely opposite schedules had started to wear on her, particularly due to the fact that by the time she actually did get to see him at night, he was so worn out from James drilling the team into the ground that most of the time, she just combed through his hair with her fingers until he fell asleep and placing a kiss against his nose or forehead before making her exit. Still, it was a temporary bump in the road, and it seemed to make them cherish their time together all the more. One of these days, though, she’d actually have the time to really get to know her enigmatic Gryffindor. “Then don’t laugh at me,” she shot back, poking her tongue out at him when she finally revealed herself to him again. When their gazes collided, Shane’s breath hitched, and she hated how audible it was even in the loud room. A shiver raced down her spine, and she shook her head subtly at the ridiculous way he was able to affect her with very little effort on his part. “It’s your victory party,” she reminded him softly. “We can stay as long or as little as you’d like. I just need warning before we make our exit so I can make sure Eros is looked after. He and his girlfriend broke up today, he’s drinking, and I want to make sure someone sees him back to his dorm safely. I’m apparently usurping your role as party mom.” Shane tucked herself against his side, eyeing the line and then looking up at him. “Does that mean we can get out of line?” she asked hopefully. She chuckled in amusement at his less than enthusiastic response to her agreement to train with Evander. “Yes, well, it’s sad, but I think the arse might actually have more time for me than you do right now. Besides, I trust you to well and properly destroy him if he does something too extreme or untoward.”
Even from their polite party distance, Reed could hear the hitch in her breathing. It made him want to cover her mouth with his own, to swallow down every sound and gasp and breath of air that he could. Instead in an act of remarkable self control, he continued to just stand there and talk to her. Conversation was important, sure, but that could happen after he had properly defiled her for the night. Reed groaned when she reminded him of her obligations, and he weighed his options. “Everyone needs a party mom. Take care of your friend, it’s okay. I’m a patient person and we have all night.” He wasn’t going to tear Shane away from someone that needed her, especially when that someone was her best friend. He leaned forward to close the distance between them, mouth hovering near the shell of her ear. “Just know that however long you make me wait is exactly how long I’ll make you wait before I let you come. Time starts now.” Leaning back he raised his voice to a normal volume as they slid out of line and into the throng of people navigating the common room. “Sure, babe. Whatever you want. And as far as the Carrow goes, I promise to let you watch if he does something too extreme.”
As she continued to explore her sexuality, she had discovered that she more than liked a little bit of pain swirled in with her pleasure, hence the completely humiliating sound that he’d coaxed from her. She nudged him with her elbow when he didn’t even attempt to conceal his amusement at it, her chin dipping so that her hair slid forward to curtain her face from view while she got her game face back on. “I hate you so much right now,” she groaned, though they both knew she didn’t mean a word of it when she looked up at him with heat and affection blazing in her gaze. She’d indeed have been in the stands regardless, because between James and Cress, she would have been wholeheartedly rooting for Gryffindor. Having Reed involved gave her that much more stake in the game, and she’d been immensely proud to see how well he’d done at a completely new position with very little time to train. It had only cost them a lot of their free time they’d otherwise have spent with each other. “Oh, I’m sure we’ll have it worse. Your lovely betrothed hates me, and Evander has something to prove. Bonus, though, your services won’t be required in the training. I’ve unwisely let him agree to poke around in my head, and I’m honestly terrified, but I refuse to back down.” She nodded firmly, as if she were trying to convince herself of her own words.
Reed told himself it was only natural to be this insanely attracted to a person at all times. They were still in the honeymoon portion of being together, and with their opposite schedules he barely got to see her, so he always felt on the wrong side of desperate. He hoped he could manage to get through the next Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw match without making a complete idiot of himself. If he was as distracted by her on the pitch as he was in real life, he might have to suggest that James use one of their alternate Chasers for a single match. “Don’t hide from me,” he teased when she practically made a curtain out of her hair, no doubt to school her features into a facial expression besides mortified. When she lifted her head and they locked eyes, he knew he was well and thoroughly fucked. “How long do we have to stay at this thing? Anything more than twenty minutes seems excessive.” Reed flew through all the Slytherin players he knew in his mind, all aggressive people with something to prove, and he knew it would be a bloodthirsty match. “Points for bravery. Minus all of those points for stupidity. We can still practice a little. That way you won’t be going into training with a Carrow entirely unmatched.”
Of all of the things she had expected, the sharp little bite of pain when his teeth grabbed at her lower lip was not one, and it yanked a completely involuntary moan out of her throat. Her hand flew to her lips as if she could shove the sound back down, cheeks tinting a brilliant shade as her eyes slid around checking to see if anyone noticed. “Ree-eed,” she hissed once she dropped her hand. Taking a deep breath to try to regain her composure, she chuckled quietly at him. “I’m aware,” she whispered back, her own smile curling her lips. “And you’ve got an extremely proud girlfriend who screamed obscenely loud at each and every one of those goals. Honestly, I’m baffled as to how I still have a voice.” She shifted to his side to stand in line with him, her unoccupied arm sliding over his back until her fingers hooked in the belt loop on his opposite side. “Hell yes, we will. It’s Slytherin for us next, and I have a few people whose faces I’d like to introduce to a bludger.”
Reed didn’t even try to hide his laughter as Shane blushed, undoubtedly because of the sexy as hell noise she had let out. His hand slipped into hers, twining their fingers together while they stood face to face as the laughter slowly petered out. “You’re so hot when you’re righteously annoyed.” Reed had seen Shane in the stands earlier, but the reminder that she was there sent warmth flooding out towards his fingertips. Of course as an avid Quidditch fan with multiple friends on the team, she would have been there anyway, but she was there with his name on her lips. “They seemed pissed off today, I think you’ll have an even tougher time. Unless we crushed their spirits, in which case you’re welcome.”
“Well, I am not a bet maker, never been a gambler and never endorsed in the practice,” he took another step closer, wondering exactly what he was doing, “Mein Herr, willst du bei mir heute Abend besuchen? Ich mache es mehralslohnt sich…”
“You should try it sometime. Quite the adrenaline rush, winning.” Reed had to give it to this guy for determination, but he resolutely took a step back whenever Dante took one forward with a mischievous smirk. He had picked up enough of most of the Germanic and Scandinavian languages to get the general feel of what he was saying, if not the precise wording. “I have a spitfire to keep my warm. You’ll have to settle for a version of tonight where you don’t touch my dick. We could still talk, though.”
She grinned when she realized it was her ever-busy boyfriend, and wondered if she’d actually get to spend some time with him now that Gryffindor was so soundly in the lead. Sniffing delicately at the drink, she was more than a little pleased that he seemed to remember and take note of the fact that she couldn’t actually drink with the medicinal potions she was prescribed, and took a slow sip. When he knocked against the ring, she looked down at it and swirled it around to show him the crest. “My belated Christmas gift from Eros’s parents. It’s the Cha family crest. I think they might actually be looking into how to make me an official member of the family,” she chuckled softly as the sapphire set into the crest glistened in the dim light. Carefully holding her drink out to the side, she leaned up to place a sweet, chaste kiss to Reed’s lips. “Congratulations.”
“Very nice,” he nodded, studying the crest for a half a second before he let her hand drop. It was good to know she had a family that made her feel wanted now that she couldn’t really on her own. Reed had never been very good with chaste, and he nipped sharply at her lower lip when she tried to pull away from the kiss. “We won,” he whispered to Shane like it was a secret, unable to hide his grin. “We won and I scored a hundred of those points, and I didn’t even get knocked off my broom this time.” His one and only previous game was a great test of character, the most embarrassing moment he had ever lived through on the pitch. “You’ll get ‘em next time, yeah?”
“Hey, I’m not wishing it. I’m a Seer, mein Schatz, that’s just how it is,” running his eyes up and down the boy, “Actually I’m seeing a tonne of you in my bed at the moment, maybe drunken prophecies need some work to become a reality,” leaning over, the boy took another sip of his drink, “What is your name, hunk?”
“A Seer,” Reed drawled in genuine excitement. “Always wanted to meet one of those. Preferably before the next World Cup so I can get my bets in.” When he realized he was very obviously being looked over, he preened under the attention. He had just worked his ass off for his team, he’d take all the misplaced admiration he could get. “I think your Eye might need some adjusting, mein herr. I know who I’m going home with. Reed.”
Wobbling around the party, Dante leant against one of the walls, chugging back his cup to an acceptable half filled to avoid spilling anything else on himself. “You know, it’s crazy knowing how many teen pregnancies this party is going to cause…. just crazy.”
Reed still couldn’t figure out half of the faces that roamed the corridors, but it was rare that someone looked totally foreign. He was two drinks in and still riding the adrenaline high from his win, and he could never seem to ignore a bizarre line from a stranger. “That’s like....the meanest thing you could possibly wish on a party.”
Shane was late, but it had honestly taken her forever to piece together an outfit that paid homage to both winning teams, which happened to house her boyfriend and her best friend. Still, she’d made it, and she was even in a partying mood despite her loss the day before. Twirling the Cha family crest that had found a permanent home around her finger, a sigh pushed forth at the ridiculousness of the line to get drinks, but she straggled forward to place herself in the queue regardless until someone offered her a drink, reaching over her shoulder from behind to present it. “Um, thanks…” she turned slowly on her heel, careful not to spill, to see who her benefactor was.
Reed was trying to toe the line between losing his mind in excitement and looking appropriately somber for Shane’s loss. In the end he decided to just be excited and soothe over Shane’s pain with a drink while he stood in the long ass line to get alcohol. “What’s this?” He asked curiously, bumping his knuckle against the surface of the ring.

Allison couldn’t help but grin widely, adrenaline still pumping through her veins. “We did it!” She exclaimed loudly to no one in particular, throwing her hands up in the air before getting another drink. “We won. This year is going to be our year, you know? I can feel it in my bones.”
“We did it,” Reed repeated, beaming right back. With a playful hip check, he slid up alongside his fellow Chaser to get himself a drink. It was his first match that he had really positively contributed to, and it was fucking blowout. “I thought Slytherin was supposed to be the competition, that was pathetic.”
She chuckled into his shirt, enjoying his strong arms, warmth, and scent. “He’s usually not an asshole to me, actually. He has a bad habit of spoiling me, but you already know that.” A sigh heaved from her chest, honestly just glad to see his face after Cas was gone, because a part of her had been worried Reed would follow him. “I’m getting there,” she murmured in response, a gentle smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “Deal. I may send him one even if Uncle Pollux did die, honestly. I’ve been a bitch today, may as well round out the day as one.”
“You have a habit of making the typical asshole weak in the knees, Nox. They could use you in wars.” She had a habit of surrounding herself with fiercely protective males, whether she planned it out or not. It was funny from an outsider’s perspective. They weren’t really about sentimental bullshit, but Cas was one of his favorite people in the world and he hoped the other man knew that. “Yeah? Good. Give em hell. Who was on the receiving end of your wrath?”
The knock on her door wasn’t surprising, because she’d sent him an owl as soon as she and Apollo had entered her room. Instead of responding, she wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his shoulder. “Very proud. I miss him, but I’m glad it wasn’t you. How terrible does that make me?”
Reed hugged her close to his chest, petting over her mess of curls with his free hands. He laughed softly at her logic, though it made total sense in his mind. “Not terrible at all. Cas is bound to you by blood, you know you’re always going to have that asshole in your life. You’re still not sure about me.” Reed was going to miss having someone he was close to around, someone that understood who he was and who he used to be and where he came from. “Once we make sure no one has died, we can write him a Howler together.”
“Hey. I made it past the knocker and everything this time, you’d be so proud of me. How’re you doing?”
Hi, gorgeous. I've had kind of a brutal day. If Cas didn't stop by to tell you, he had to rush home, and that was only part of my day. I'm in my room with Apollo just trying to calm down. I didn't want you to hear it from some nosy asshole trying to make it into something it isn't. Will you come by when you're free? I could use a hug. - Shane
Reed, got an owl from my dad's assistant and it turns out he's pretty ill. I'm going back to Greece to take care of the family business. Take care of Shane or I'll come back and break your dick. And not in the fun way. -Cas
