A character who has an obsessive and possessive side in regards to their crush, ready to use violent (if not murderous) means to maintain an exclusive bond.
Welcome to my weird little, self indulgent, yandere BNHA fanfiction playground!
I’ll be utilizing this blog to post fanfiction one-shots, discuss world-building/changes to canon, and share general information about my incredibly unconventional Yandere Fix-It AU.
In my story, four familiar faces—Overhaul, Dabi, Hawks, and Tomura Shigaraki—become deeply connected to my Isekai’d OC, Ashi, thanks to her initially unassuming quirk, Bond. This connection forms early in their lives, and as time passes, their attachment to Ashi only grows stronger. As the depth of their bond increases, so to does the strength of its unexpected side effects, including (but not limited to) clinginess, obsession, a severe decline in mental health and, of course, ✨homicidal tendencies✨ .
Ultimately, all Ashi wants is to stop AFO from fucking over her new friends and destroying society. And if that means emotionally manipulating a group of psychotic, overpowered fictional characters into becoming her loyal allies by adulthood?
So be it.
Worried about Ashi’s safety? Don’t be!
In this AU, the yanderes I write are lovingly devoted slaves. Protective, obedient, and utterly incapable of harming or upsetting her, the boys would rather die than make Ashi unhappy. Sure, they’re domineering, sadistic, murderous assholes when it comes to literally everyone else, but when it comes to Ashi? They’d happily lick her boots and do her chores if it meant proving their devotion and staying by her side.
Forever.
So welcome to a BNHA AU where loyalty is unhinged, love borders on worship, and Ashi is resignedly at the center of it all.
If all that sounds like your kind of chaos, then stick around! Things are only going to get more morally questionable from here on out lol
Got any questions about the AU? Want to know more about the main cast of characters? Curious about the changes I've made to canon? Feel free to shoot me an ask, and I’ll do my best to answer!"

Ashi, in her first life, was never a social person.
In fact, she was more of an introvert than Koda Koji during her first bout of childhood, always hiding behind her mom’s legs and bursting into tears whenever expected to socialize with kids her age. As she grew up she got a little better, being able to hold down a hybrid nine-to-five and manage small talk without draining her entire social battery.
As Ashi though, she found she could handle a lot more than she could in her last life, but still needed time to herself to recharge.
This was an issue.
Because, now that her home life was shared with Kai and her outside time was spent playing with Touya, Ashi had precious few moments alone.
Ashi huffed as she stomped around the more industrial streets outside of her neighborhood, cursing the men in her life.
“Stupid, clingy, paranoid little-” She muttered under her breath.
Kai had reached Bond level three about a month ago and with it he’d grown unreasonably paranoid of her leaving him alone. Thankfully, he still obeyed her when she demanded she be let outside of the compound, so she was able to go on her usual outings. He just made it difficult on purpose.
Touya hadn’t reached level three yet, but man that kid was sticky. During their Saturday play dates he would cling to her side and refuse to let her play with anyone else. It got so bad that when some poor kid from his neighborhood tried to get Ashi to play hide and seek with her, Touya literally fucking growled at them and told the kid to buzz off.
“Feral little piece of-” If only Ashi had a pillow to scream into. Instead she resorted to using her hands.
After several seconds of muffled shrieking, Ashi lifted her face, now a bit light headed and immediately saw that she no longer knew where she was.
Okay, no need to panic. She thought. All I have to do is check my phone and I’ll see my location, easy.
Ashi pulled her phone out of her fanny pack only for the screen to stay dark, even as she pressed its buttons.
Fuck. It was out of battery.
Now wanting to scream for different reasons, Ashi sighed instead.
This is karma isn’t it? Her eye twitched. I bad mouth the only people “my age” who give a shit about me and now fate has something to say about it.
She had one last idea.
These abandoned buildings had such crap locks, Ashi bet she could get inside one and make it to the roof. There were several unique landmarks near the compound and she was guaranteed to spot one from so high up!
Feeling a bit better about herself, Ashi walked up to the closest one and pushed at the rusty hunk of metal. It squealed in protest, but actually opened up easily.
This was good for her because her scrawny little arms wouldn’t have been able to force an entry, but also bad because for all she knew some serial killer was taking shelter in the building already and would lunge at her the moment she stepped foot into the dark doorway.
Maybe those scary movie nights with Gramps and Kai were a bad thing for her psyche after all…
Shaking her head, Ashi entered the old place and was pleasantly surprised by how the natural light shown through the windows, illuminating the inside of the building and allowing her to spot the staircase to the upper floors easily.
As she walked towards the stairs, Ashi noticed remnants of old camp sites throughout the ground floor. A torn up sleeping bag here, a sooty spot where a fire used to be there. But no one was home.
Ashi felt confident being a little less careful with how much noise she made so she began to hum an old real world song she found out didn’t exist in this reality as she climbed.
The second and third floors were much of the same, just without the reminders of people having lived there.
Finally the rooftop access!
It was little more than a doorway, the door itself having rusted into almost nothing. The whistle of wind buzzed in her ears as she drew closer.
Being careful not to cut herself on any of the old metal (last thing she needed was a tetanus shot), Ashi stepped through the doorway and was met with blue skies, gray concrete, red feathers and-.
Wait.
Red feathers?
In front of her stood a young boy who looked to be no older than she was, fists up. His bright red wings were flared out behind him and his sandy blond hair whipped in the wind. Distinctive black markings decorated the sides of his narrowed eyes as he glared at her.
Aaaaand it was Hawks.
Nope!
Ashi was so done with boys today that instead of taking his bait, or attempting to comfort him, she stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry.
Stupid new world, stupid boys, stupid plot.
Not today!
Waltzing right past a very confused child version of Hawks, Ashi walked over to the side of the roof and started looking for signs of home.
The silence was painfully loud.
Not here, and not there either. What about-? Nope. Just more gray. How far did I even walk?
The longer Ashi looked for any signs of her home, or the park, without success, the more depressed she became.
The one thing she tries to do for herself, the ONE thing and she’s punished for it. All she wanted was to go on a walk without her boys breathing down her neck and this is what she gets.
Childish tears brimmed in her eyes as Ashi found herself plopped down near the edge of the roof, looking out to the sky.
It was robin’s egg blue smeared with wispy white clouds. Clouds that were growing blurrier and blurrier as she stared up at them.
Her face was warm and her chest was tight.
And beneath it all -her true age, her oblivious facade, her manipulative plans- Ashi felt just like a lost little girl again.
As her tears overflowed and ran down her sniveling little face, Ashi saw a blur of red come settle a few feet away from her.
The wind made her face cold where her tears trickled down.
“...Are you... crying?”
She was, wasn’t she.
Sniffing her tears back, Ashi rubbed her face on her sleeve until it was dry. She still felt like falling apart, but she didn’t want future pro hero Hawks to see snot on her face.
“…Yeah.” No point in lying.
He was staring at her with doll like eyes, big, shiny but… dead. “Why? I mean... what’s the point of crying up here? It’s not like anyone’s around to see.”
The fuck was kid Hawks on about?
“I wasn’t crying to elicit empathy, dude. I was crying cause I’m lost and scared and small and I can’t even take a break from life without life breaking me back!”
Baby Hawk’s creepy eyes were still on her, unblinking. “Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. Lots of people get lost. Happens all the time. But there are people who’ve got it way worse than you, you know.”
Look, Ashi knew that Hawks had a shitty background and was pretty isolated as a child, but wasn’t this a bit much?
“Look, my guy. People are allowed to feel how they feel, even if others have it worse. This isn’t the suffering Olympics, I can feel shitty about my life and you can just shut it.”
Was Ashi backtalking one of her favorite heroes? Yes, yes she was. Did it feel good? Not really.
Those dead, dead eyes looked right through her. “Shut it? Nah. I’m just saying it’s weird to act like your problems are so special. People deal with worse all the time. So... why not just get over it, like everyone else?”
The ‘Like me?’ was left unspoken between the two of them.
“Are… Are you okay?” Ashi was now seriously worried for the child next to her. This didn’t seem like the sheltered yet hopeful child Hawks she saw in the manga. This kid was acting pretty OOC, being so weirdly detached and socially unaware.
“People are always asking if I’m okay. Why do they ask me that?” A furrow of his thick brows was the first sign of emotion Ashi had seen from him. “What do you think? Am I okay?”
“No.” Ashi swallowed back a fresh wave of tears as she stared into the boy’s hollow stare. “No, I don’t think you're okay, Hon.”
Something clearly went wrong in this universe for Hawks to be acting like this; emotionless, dull, dead. What had happened? What had changed?
“You think I’m not okay? People say ‘okay’ like it means something... but it’s just a word.” His tone was flat, but there was a flicker of something deeper beneath the surface, a fleeting emotion (anger?) that vanished quickly. “Doesn’t change anything, so it doesn’t matter.”
She should change the subject, she was not only getting nowhere with him like this, she was actually probably pissing him off a bit.
“You know, like I kind of said before, it’s okay to not be okay.” Ashi up until now had been ignoring the faint HUD overlaying her vision. Her quirk, Bond, was tempting her now. Should she? It would be a strategic boon to have a close friend on the inside of the Hero Public Safety Commission. But that would be with canon Hawks. This was some fucked up, emotionless, fanon version of Hawks. This was an unknown. “I’m sorry about what I said, about you not being okay. It’s the truth, so I wont take it back, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. To not be okay, not like other people.”
The ‘Not like normal people.’ also went unsaid.
“You... you think it’s okay to not be okay? Not like... other people?” His breath hitched slightly, almost as if his body was reacting without him knowing. As if he was almost feeling something. Something that shouldn’t be there in the cold, detached child he was. “...Why would you say that? You don’t even know me.” To Ashi, he seemed oddly... vulnerable in that moment, like someone who'd been shown a door he’d never seen before. A door that only someone like her was able to open for him.
Bond Target?
(2/4 Slots Remaining)
YES NO
Ashi had made her decision.
“You’re right, I don’t know you.” His feathers twitched. “But I think I’d like to.”
“You think you can just… understand me like that?” His left eye twitches and his gaze seems different somehow. His voice was barely above a whisper. “No one’s ever bothered before.”
This was just fucking sad, now.
“In that case, I’ll be the first.” She reached her hand out to the boy. “I’m Ashi. What’s your name?”
He stared at her hand like it would bite him.
CLICK
The boy froze as if he was electrocuted. His little wings fluffed out, making them look like two over sized pompoms stuck to his shoulder blades. His wide golden eyes began to shimmer with something, something that Ashi couldn’t quite read.
Bond Complete!
[New Entry!]
Takami _____
Quirk: Fierce Wings
Age: 6
Bond Level: 1
Then his hand met hers, entwining their tiny fingers together. He licked his lips.
“Takami.”
…
“Takami what?”
“Just Takami. My parents, they just call me ‘you’.”
Don’t tell Kai to murder people. Don’t tell Kai to murder people.
Not even a first name? Seriously? You pop out a kid that you obviously don’t want, isolate him from everyone except his fucked up parents and on top of all of that you couldn’t be bothered to name him?!
Ashi frowned.
“No name at all? That’s... that’s cruel. You deserve a name. You deserve more than that.” Her little fingers gently tightened around his small hand. This could absolutely backfire on her. “I’m calling you Keigo. That’s your name now, okay?”
Keigo’s mouth opened slightly as if he was about to protest, but nothing was said. He… wanted this.
“You’re not just ‘Takami’ you’re your own person.”
The poor boy looked like someone had just handed him a puzzle piece he hadn’t realized he was missing. Keigo’s eyes lingered on their entwined hands as if it were the only thing in the world that made sense right now. He said nothing, but his grip on her hand tightened ever so slightly, as if afraid to let go. Keigo. That feeling… He couldn’t explain it, had no words for the sensation, but he didn’t want it to fade.
“…Keigo? Are you okay?” Shit, they just talked about this. “I mean-!”
“Yeah.” Keigo’s lips twitched involuntarily, the motion looking more creepy than cute. “I think I’m actually okay now. Thank you, Ashi.”
Keigo didn’t know what came over him, all he knew was that the gap between the two children’s bodies was too large. He was too far away. He needed to be closer, closer, yet closer.
His pint-sized wings flapped once behind him, less lifting him physically and more moving him telepathically, towards Ashi.
Ashi who accepted him.
Ashi who named him.
Ashi who owned him.
She startled back as Keigo moved into her space, but he tugged her back by their entangled hands.
His lips landed on hers roughly, pressing too hard for the touch to be comfortable.
Ashi froze, her brain stalling out. Ew, ew, ew! A gross little child was kissing her on the lips!
Keigo pressed harder, his eyes squeezed shut. Ashi knew she couldn’t freak out, as much as she wanted to. This version of Hawks was… volatile. Who knew what outright rejection would do to his sensitive psyche?
So instead of throwing him off the building (What? He could fly!), Ashi gently patted his scruffy head and leaned back out of the kiss. “Hey, what was that for?” She wanted so badly to wipe her mouth with her sleeve.
“Whenever Mom says thank you to Dad, she does that. It makes him happy.” He tried to go in again, but luckily Ashi was on guard this time and his lips hit her palm.
“Okay. I get it then, it was a thank you kiss. Well, and I can’t believe I’m asking this, do you know what it means when two people do that with each other?”
Keigo leaned back enough for Ashi to feel safe lowering her hand and tilted his head. “No, not really. I just know that Mom only does it with Dad. No one else.”
“Kay, good. So, what that’s called is a ‘kiss’ and people only do it with those they love a lot.” Ashi was keeping the explanation as simple as possible as to not confuse the poor kid. Having to explain what a hook up was to a child with a severely deficient affect was not on her to do list today.
“Love?”
“It’s what someone feels when they are strongly emotionally attached and or attracted to someone. It can be romantic, platonic or somewhere in between.” Keigo looked confused. “Keigo, do you…? Feel things? Like, about other people.”
Keigo furrowed his brows slightly, his eyes distant. "I don’t really care about other people. They talk, they cry, they laugh... none of it makes sense to me. I- I don’t get it. It’s just noise.” He paused, glancing down at their joined hands. “But I guess... I don’t mind this. This is different.”
Ashi always joked about her BFF Kai being a sociopath, but holy shit this kid in front of her might just actually be one. Like for realsies this time.
She tried to imagine an adult pro hero Hawks with anti-social personality disorder and cringed. This was bad. He needed someone other than his scumbag parents to guide him in the right direction. He needed a friend, that is, if he could even manage that? Didn’t people with ASPD usually just use people and call it friendship?
Fuck, Ashi needed to get Keigo to a child’s psychiatrist ASAP. Her single semester of Psych 101 was NOT enough to deal with this situation.
“So, okay. You kissed me but you don’t love me. You shouldn’t kiss people you don’t love or care about.”
Keigo was confused. Love? What did that even feel like? He had no frame of reference for the emotion so how could he know who he feels it for? This was frustrating. “I don’t think I know what love feels like.”
“Then save your future kisses for when you know what love means, and when you really truly mean it.” Ashi felt proud of her impromptu guidance session. Was it perfect? Nope. Was it likely to bite her in the ass later in life? Yeah, probably.
“For when I know what love means…” Keigo parroted back, blinking. “Okay.”
“Can you keep a secret?” Ashi whispered into his ear suddenly.
“Y-Yeah.”
“I’ve never felt romantic love before, and I don’t think I ever will. So in that way, we’re kind of alike!”
“You don’t feel love either?”
“Well, I love my friends and I love Gramps who is like family to me, but I’ve never loved anyone romantically. I’m what people call aromantic.”
She’s like me… Keigo had never had anyone to relate to before, he was always too… different from his parents for them to be alike in any way and he was never allowed to talk to anyone outside of his family.
The two children were now settled in front of each other comfortably. Keigo still hadn’t let go of her right hand so she used her left to play with an old metal nut that she found on the ground between them. Keigo was doing that thing that her targets always seemed to do, staring at her like she’d disappear if they blinked or looked away.
“So, where are your parents?” Ashi asked him. To be honest, she didn’t think the compound and the Todoroki home were located in Kyushu which is where she knew Keigo lived in the manga. She really didn’t want to ask about his home life, but she needed to know what other changes were being made to his backstory.
“Over there.” Keigo pointed to the west, where just before her vision failed her, she saw some forest. It was possible that the Takami family shack was hidden out there, just far enough away for Keigo’s criminal father to avoid detection.
“So if you live all the way over there, why are you here on top of this old building? Needed a breather?”
“I… I know I was told not to, but I snuck out.” Keigo pulled his knees up to his chest. “I’m supposed to do what I’m told, but the itch wouldn’t go away until I could see the sky again. They probably know I’m gone by now, but I don’t wanna go back yet.”
They were definitely going to hurt him when he did.
“The itch?”
Keigo nodded, eyes unfocusing. “I get itchy when I can’t see the sky. So I sneak out when I can to this roof top and practice flying.”
That made sense, Ashi guessed. She wondered how else his Fierce Wings quirk changed him.
“And your parents? Do- Do they treat you okay?”
“They treat me fine I guess. I mean, I get punished sometimes. Like when I leave the house or do something they don’t like.”
“How do you feel about them?” Ashi already regretted bringing them up, but in for a penny in for a pound.
“I don’t really care about my parents,” he said, this time his tone was completely detached. “They never really gave me a reason to.”
If Ashi took a deep breath. She was so not cut out for handling this. But before she could say anything else, Keigo’s stomach growled.
Most little boys would laugh it off and whine about being hungry, maybe some would even act embarrassed. Keigo however flinched violently, as if he was expecting Ashi to smack him for it.
If I ever meet his folks, I swear to whoever put me here they will limp away after I’m done with them.
Don’t mention it, you’ll only embarrass him. “You hungry?” Ashi unzipped her fanny pack and pulled out a granola bar. “We can go splitzies. I don’t mind, honest!”
“Thank you…” Keigo uncurled a bit and watched hungrily as Ashi methodically snapped the crunchy bar into perfect halves. “How’d you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Split it perfect.”
“Oh, well, I have this roommate who’s like, uber overprotective. So whenever I split our snacks uneven he tries to give me the bigger half, despite him being way taller than me. So I learned how to snap them like this so he can’t starve himself.”
“You have a roommate?” That’s what he took away from what she said?
“Uh…” Ashi really didn’t want to preemptively introduce future number two pro hero Hawks to future Yakuza leader and drug lord Overhaul, even if they were just kids at the moment. She had a feeling waiting on that was smarter than putting them on each other’s radar. “Yeah, we just live together with our grandpa.”
“Mm.” Keigo accepted Ashi’s offer of the crunchy bar and began nibbling.
It was quiet between the two of them while they ate, Ashi finishing much faster than Keigo. Licking her lips of any crumbs, she looked up from her wrapper only to see that her new friend had only eaten a third of his half of the bar.
“Aren’t you hungry?” Ashi was confused, if her suspicions were correct (and looking at the scrawny kid, she was pretty sure she was), Keigo didn’t get a lot of food at home. Why wouldn’t he be scarfing down his snack?
Keigo jumped a bit, startled by her voice. “Uhm…”
“Oh no, are you allergic to nuts or something?!” Crap, Ashi didn’t even think about the possibility of allergies, she wouldn’t put it past the universe to make changes like that too. “You seriously didn’t have to eat any of it if you are!”
Keigo looked slightly uncomfortable. “No, I can eat nuts. It’s just… Anything other than meat hurts my stomach.”
Wait, why would-
Oh my god, he was a bird of prey.
An obligate carnivore.
Ashi wanted to face palm.
She just fed a hawk seeds, when all he could digest was meat.
Idiot!
“Crap, Keigo, I’m really sorry. But like, why didn’t you tell me?”
He shrugged his tiny shoulders. “Mom says turning down food is rude. And I didn’t want you to hate me.” A flicker of pain flashed thorough his eyes. “I… didn’t want you to leave me.”
Oh, Honey. “Keigo, if you can’t digest plant matter, that’s okay. And it’s more than okay to say, ‘no thank you’ if you can’t, or hell, don’t want to eat something. I’m guessing you probably don’t have a lot of choices at home about what you can eat, but when you’re with me, this is a judgment free zone.”
He bared his teeth in a really weird way, his sharp incisors and canines poking out prominently. Was the kid trying to smile at her? “Thank you…”
Ashi giggled a bit at him. This boy was too cute.
“Why are you laughing? What’s funny?”
“It’s nothing, heheh.” Ashi didn’t want him to think that she was laughing at him maliciously. “It’s just, you smile kind of funny, and it was cute is all.”
Showing the most emotion she’d seen so far, Keigo pouted at her. “Nuh uh. I smile just fine.”
“Okay, then do it again. If it’s so fine.”
Huffing at her, Keigo bared his teeth again and Ashi burst into another round of giggles. “K-Keigo! You’re so cute!”
For a second his ‘smile’ grew wider, before flattening out. “Mom says it’s creepy.”
Well, it was a little creepy, Ashi couldn’t pretend that ‘normal’ people smiled that way. Pro heroes didn’t smile that way.
“Hey,” She patted his fluffy head. “If you really want, I can teach you to smile like other people? And like, emote and stuff. I love your natural smile and how you really act, but in the future it could be helpful to know how to blend in. Is that something you’d want to do?”
“If I say yes, does that mean we can meet again?”
“Mhm! We can meet here every week and practice!”
Keigo ‘grinned’ widely, showing off all his unsettlingly pointy teeth. “Okay, as long as I get to see you again.”
Not really the consent she was looking for, but it worked for her purposes of Operation Teach Baby Hawks How To Roll A Twenty In Charisma.
“Okay let’s start with the eyes.”
“But I thought you smile with your mouth?”
“Kinda! It’s honestly a little bit of both.” Ashi gave a big smile, one that made her eyes close a bit and her face crinkle up. It was her cutest smile. “Lots of your smile happens in your eyes, so relax your face and allow them to scrunch up a bit. You tend to stare, uhm, blankly? When you naturally smile.”
Keigo’s face was a little pink as he looked at Ashi’s example smile. He shook his head before relaxing his facial muscles. “Like this?”
“Uhh… Not really? Sorry, it’s just, I think your eye markings make your eyes a little sharper looking than most folks. So, it kinda looks like you’re… glaring? At me? Instead of smiling.” Ashi cringed.
“…” He looked frustrated.
“Why don’t we focus on the eyes another day? Let’s work on the mouth now, since that’s the part most people notice first.”
“Kay.”
“Show me your smile and I’ll give you instructions.”
Keigo smiled his eerie smile and Ashi got to work.
“First, don’t force the smile. Try using your cheek muscles, yeah the ones right here, to draw up the corners of your mouth. Like this, yeah. No, try again, one more time. Yeah, like that!”
“It feels weird.” Keigo complained, dropping his new rather charming looking expression. “I don’t like it.”
“I know buddy, I guess it’s just not what comes naturally to you.” Ashi rubbed the back of her neck. “Honestly, I prefer your natural smile, but most people aren’t like me. Most people prefer what’s fake and perfect over what’s genuine and raw.”
“Then I don’t care what most people think. All I care about is you.” Keigo frowned, leaning closer.
Uh oh, not another one.
“I’m flattered, honestly, but one day I have a feeling there will be a lot of people counting on you to give them peace and confidence. A ‘normal’ smile, no matter how fake, will go a long way towards that goal.”
“But what if that’s not my goal. What if I don’t want to help people?” Keigo blurted out. “What if- What if I want to hurt people instead?” He slapped his hand over his mouth and turned away from Ashi.
Ooookay…?
“Keigo… have you hurt people, or things, before?” Ashi wasn’t scared of the little boy in front of her per say, she’s seen what Kai could do after all, but this version of Hawks was new to her and knowing just how antisocial his ASPD was would be good info to have.
“…” The boy refused to speak, shaking his head.
“Hey, remember what I said before? Judgment. Free. Zone.” Ashi poked his ribs, drawing a snort from the boy in front of her. Kid must be ticklish. “I won’t be scared, no matter what you may or may not have done in the past. I promise you.”
“…”
The sound of wind was the only noise for a while. Keigo lowered his hand from his mouth and seemed to be thinking pretty hard.
Just as Ashi was about to speak again, Keigo dropped a bomb on her.
“I kill things.”
Ashi froze. It was one thing to know that Kai kills those that threaten them, but that was born out of uncontrollable rage and a desire to protect her. This… there was no emotion in Keigo’s face as he said that, no emotion in his voice.
“What kind of things?”
“First it was worms.” Keigo starts slowly, glancing at Ashi’s face every now and then. “There was this, this pressure in my chest. Not like the itch, but it was just as hard to ignore. I would cut them up with my feathers and eat them sometimes if it’d been a while since I had meat. Then I found a hurt bird in the grass.”
Shit. Ashi knew where this was headed. She swallowed thickly, but kept her poker face.
“I cut it up like the worms and it made this noise that made the pressure go away. It was loud, but my parents were sleepy so they didn’t come look.” He furrowed his thick brows. “It died too fast, so I found another one, a healthy one, and used my feathers to pin it to the ground with it’s wings. I cut it slower that time. It felt good. Like I was in control.” He smiled that creepy yet cute smile that she loved at her.
Animal cruelty, alongside general abuse, was some of the few things that Ashi had a hell of a time understanding or forgiving. And here was her new bestie, her cute, ticklish, pitiful little bestie, hunting animals for sport, ‘cause it felt good.
No. Ashi shook her head. He literally doesn’t know any better. Do I seriously believe that his deadbeat parents even considered teaching him right from wrong? This kid has no moral compass, be lenient with him.
“Okay. Okay. We can work with this.” She muttered before slapping her cheeks lightly. “Keigo, I’m gonna come right out and say this, and I want you to not take this personally at all, but hurting others, hurting animals, is not considered a good thing.”
His smile slipped. “You hate me.”
“Babes, I don’t hate you. At all. Look me in the eyes and tell me that this is the look of someone who hates you.” Ashi poured all of her affection for her new friend into her expression and stared into his own eyes.
Keigo looked at her, studying her face for a long time before he was satisfied that she wasn’t lying to him. “Okay. I believe you.”
“Good. Now, I’m gonna tell you something that you’re not gonna like.” She took a breath. “You’re gonna have to stop hurting animals. Full stop. No ifs ands or buts.”
Keigo frowned. “But-”
“I said no buts.” Ashi scolded, wagging her finger. “Now, about that- that pressure you feel. Does it only go away when you hurt things? Or are there any alternatives? Any at all?”
Keigo looked conflicted. “…There’s one, but I don’t think you’ll like it.”
“Tell me.”
He rolled up his baggy jumper’s sleeve, revealing- scars? “When there’s no animals around, I bite myself. It makes the pressure go away for a bit, but I don’t like that it hurts.”
Of course it hurt him, his teeth were painfully sharp looking. Ashi cringed. Okay, self harm wasn’t much better than torturing animals.
“This isn’t judgment, but I want you to know that I care about you, Keigo. Knowing that you have to do this,” She gestured at his exposed arm. “Or kill things is really sad. Can I help you brainstorm ways to avoid those as options?”
“Sure.” Keigo didn’t look like he had a lot of faith in her ability to satiate his innate sadism.
Think, Ashi. She hummed a bit as she mentally went through what she knew about the situation. The pressure went away after causing harm to someone, whether it was a bug, a bird or himself. So it must be the act of causing pain, not necessarily the act of killing, since it went away when he hurt himself and he’s obviously still here to tell the tale. Honestly, the only difference between the self harm and the torture was consent…
…
Consent.
Ashi’s eyes widened as she came up with a stupidly brilliant idea. One that Kai and Touya would absolutely hate.
Holy shit, if I can convince him, this might actually work.
“I know! How about whenever we meet up, instead of you biting yourself, you bite me instead! That way, you aren’t hurting yourself and you aren’t killing animals. I hereby give you permission to bite me whenever you need to!” Ashi was so proud of her plan.
“No!” It was the loudest Keigo had gotten since they met.
Ashi was taken aback. The heck did he just say? “No, what?”
“No, I won’t hurt you.” Keigo crossed his arms stubbornly. “You’re my only friend and if I hurt you you’ll hate me.”
“But I won’t hate you.”
“Yes, you will!”
“No, I wont. And I can prove it to you!”
“How are you gonna do that?!” He glared, baring his teeth. “See, they’re sharp. They hurt. If I bite you you’ll run away and I’ll never see you again.”
“Bite me right now and I promise you I won’t run away.” Ashi knew she could handle it, she was constantly getting hurt after all. She was used to pain.
Keigo scrunched up his face and if it were anyone else, Ashi would have thought he was about to cry, but instead he seemed to be… holding himself back?
“Keigo, tell me honestly, how bad is the pressure right now? And don’t bother lying, I always know when someone is lying to me.”
“…It’s bad.” He admitted, a sharpness entering his gaze. He looked now more like a predator than he did a little kid. “All I wanna do is hurt something. But if I bite myself, you’ll be disappointed in me.”
“Then bite me!” Ashi was basically begging him at this point. “I’m right here, telling you it’s okay. I give you permission, consent, authorization. Whatever you want to call it, it’s yours!”
Ashi held out her bare arm to Keigo and watched as his eyes fixated on the offered appendage.
“You’re sure.”
“Yeah, I am.”
Keigo’s eyebrows furrowed, as if he still didn’t fully understand why she would do this for him, before his eyes sharpened scarily and he lunged at her throat.
It was only the thought of Kai’s scandalized face that prompted Ashi to move at the last second so that Keigo latched onto the meat of her shoulder instead of her jugular. The young boy’s pointy teeth sank into the flesh harshly as he clung to her in some weird approximation of a hug.
Congratulations!
Takami Keigo has reached Bond Level 2!
She tried not to wince or make any noise, not wanting him to call her a liar, but man that kid’s teeth were like box cutters! She shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position, but Keigo bit down harder and growled at her. It wasn’t a very intimidating growl, given how high pitched his voice was at this age, but he obviously wanted her to sit still while he worked out his anger issues.
So she sat here and rubbed his thin back, sadly counting his ribs, while he gnawed at her trapezius. Luckily for her, Keigo’s teeth albeit sharp weren’t actually very long. So she didn’t think she’d have any muscle damage. Thank the universe for baby teeth!
But what happens when he grows up? Ashi couldn’t help but wonder. Well, at least by then he’d be beating up bad guys in back alleys and wouldn’t need to teeth on her anymore.
But yeah, this was definitely manageable, she concluded as Keigo pulled his teeth out of her shoulder and leaned back slightly. He looked dazed and out of it.
“You good, buddy?” He mumbled something incoherent before licking away the blood he spilled. Oh, okay, that was gross. “Heeeey, enough of that! Lets just, uh, use a tissue for this.” Luckily she always carried a few in her fanny pack.
Putting pressure on the wound wasn’t fun feeling, but the dull ache was better than staining her shirt and worrying her friends and Gramps.
“Thanks.” Keigo’s voice was rough. He licked his lips, making sure he got every last drop of Ashi’s blood before continuing. “It’s better now.”
“The pressure’s gone down?”
“The pressure’s gone.”
“Oh, well that’s good. And will you look at that? I’m still here talking to you!” Ashi teased. “And I’ll be here every week to teach you how to fake a smile and let you nibble me. You’ll have to try real hard to get rid of me now.”
Keigo grinned his natural smile, showing off pink, bloody teeth. “Yeah.”
The wind whipped around them harshly, bringing a new chill with it.
“Huh, looks like the suns going down. Ugh, and I’m still lost…” Ashi complained flopping onto her back.
“I can fly you home.” Keigo leaned over Ashi to stare at her curiously. “I know you don’t know where you are, but we can fly around and find out.”
Fly?
With Hawks?
Uh, YES!?
But wait, this is just kid Hawks… How on earth is he gonna lift the two of us?
“I’d love to uh, take you up on your offer, but aren’t we too heavy for your wings? They’re so tiny…” Ashi gestured to his back where the small wings flexed indignantly.
Keigo slapped her tummy. “They’re not tiny! Besides, flapping doesn’t really do anything. I move the feathers with my mind and that moves me.”
Oh yeah, the feathers were telepathic. The flapping was probably more for show than anything. “Oh.”
Keigo offered her a hand to stand up. “You’ll have to hold on tight though, I’m not that strong.”
“Hey, ‘not that strong’ yet!” Ashi said poking his bony bicep after getting to her feet. “I’m sure once you grow up to be a hero you’ll have put in a lot of time training and growing strong.”
“I still don’t think I’m hero material. I don’t think that anyone would want me to save them.”
“Hey, you’re saving me from being lost. I’d say that already makes you a hero in my books.”
Ashi was lucky that she was tiny for a six year old as she koala clung to Keigo’s middle. “Hang on okay, don’t want you to fall.”
“Kay!”
And with one performative flap of his wings, Keigo’s feathers lifted them into the sky. Her feathered friend held her close with both scrawny arms, nails almost digging into her skin. They must’ve looked a little silly what with Ashi clinging to Keigo like an opossum baby, but luckily there didn’t seem to be anyone other than them in the industrial area.
Soaring around for a few minutes in the direction she thought she came from, Ashi spotted a small grove of trees, just out of sight from where she was on the building with Keigo. “Hey! That’s Touya’s park! Take me that way!”
Keigo nodded and turned their momentum the way Ashi was pointing. “Don’t point, Ashi. You’re gonna fall.”
“Oops! Sorry.” She giggled, snuggling into Keigo’s chest as they continued to fly.
In that moment, up in the sky supported by her new friend, Ashi had never felt safer. She was confident that she could turn this new, OOC Keigo into the model citizen and pro hero he was always meant to be.
However, her decisions made the day they met would only set Keigo up for a broken future of deep suffering and murderous obsession, longing for the one he lost.
I'm under a spell, I'm in over my head

Jogging down the street in the nice area of town had it’s pros and cons.
It was great because Ashi didn’t need to worry about being mugged while she was there, but it sucked because she was technically exercising. You see, working out was something that Ashi definitely avoided in her past life. Bad knees at 40 something years old, plus a little extra weight on her body made cardio uncomfortable, so in the end she just avoided it.
However, in this new body, Ashi was determined to do better this time. She had goals and part of those goals included staying alive this time around, only dying when she was at least eighty, surrounded by those who loved her. And in a world where the majority of the population had dangerous super powers, with those who held ill intentions often roaming her usual neighborhood and stomping grounds, surviving to a ripe old age was harder than anticipated. She’d just been mugged the other week, throwing Pops into a tizzy and Kai into a rage fueled fit, and she wasn’t looking to be a victim anymore.
And if that meant getting faster and stronger in order to protect herself, even at so young an age, then so be it.
Asking Pops to train her in self defense was easy, getting him to agree wasn’t. Even though this time around she wasn't very cute, this new face of hers had killer puppy dog eyes and eventually after a few hours of begging and bargaining, he gave in.
Kai finding out kinda killed her good mood after that, because he demanded that he be there for every session. “To make sure that Hime-sama’s sparing partners don’t bring her any harm.”
Overprotective nerd.
That was a second reason she was out jogging in a different neighborhood. Getting away from her local sociopathic BFF, better known as Chisaki Kai.
Don’t get her wrong, she loved the guy to death, but ever since she picked him up off the street and introduced him to the Shie Hassaikai, the controlling 10 year old was dead set on keeping her in his sights.
So, to get a breather from him and his borderline stalking, she decided to start exercising away from her usual neighborhood a couple days a week. Just to be on her own for once.
Luckily she was a sneaky six year old and had a knack for slipping away unnoticed. This had the side effect of causing Kai to mother hen her once she got back of course, but the time to breathe without her friend and housemate watching her every move was worth the fussing later on.
Today was an especially bad day for Kai. He had had a longer than usual breakdown over a spot on a supposedly clean glass he was drinking from that morning which caused not only his usual hyperventilating and hives, but vomiting as well.
Ashi loved Kai, and was used to his attacks, but it didn’t make the hours spent reassuring and monitoring him for accidental self harm any less stressful. At the end of the day, she ultimately decided he was stable enough for her to get out of the compound for a bit and get a sweat in at the same time.
Ashi at this point had reached the end of her usual route, panting. Wincing at the burn of her lungs and the dryness of her throat, she took a drink from the small water flask she always kept in her back pocket.
She didn’t want to go back yet, she was really enjoying her time in the uncharacteristically nice weather for this time of year. And not to mention not having to look over her shoulder as often as she usually did was doing wonders for her cortisol levels.
Mid gulp, she suddenly spotted a worn dirt path that lead between some bushes and trees.
Was that there the whole time? How come I’ve never seen it before? She thought, putting her now half empty flask away.
Deciding she could waste a few minutes exploring a nice neighborhood at sunset, she began walking through the foliage, but not without drafting a text to Kai with her current location attached.
“Quirkless” little girls can never be too careful.
The trail actually wasn’t that long, just dense enough to hide what looked like a pretty awesome, yet empty, kid’s playground.
…
Wait, scratch that. It wasn’t empty. There was a kid there, all alone it looked like.
Who would leave a rich kid out by himself at a park in the middle of what looked like a suburban forest near sundown?
Muttering to herself about irresponsible parents, Ashi determinedly walked towards the boy, intent on helping him either get home before it got dark or calling his parents using her own phone to come pick him up.
“Hey kid!” Shit, other children don’t talk like that dummy. “I mean, hiya! Whatcha doing here so late? Does your mom or dad know where you are?”
He didn’t look homeless, so she felt relatively safe mentioning parents.
Gasping, the kid looked over at her from his spot on the bench he was sitting on, nearly causing her to gasp as well.
Because not only did the motion startle her, and not only was she surprised to see the young boy was in the middle of ugly crying, but because his hair was an unmistakable mix of dark red, splotched with snowy white.
Brilliant teal eyes stared wildly up at her.
Ashi’s face paled.
Fuuuuuuuuck, it was Dabi.
Prepubescent babyface Dabi albeit, but a future serial killer nonetheless.
As if sensing her distress, even though the damn thing turned itself on every time Ashi met a new person (plot relevant or otherwise), Bond activated itself. The tinyass HUD glowed faintly at the center of her vision, overlaying the shocked young boy’s wet face and bloodshot eyes.
Bond Target?
(3/4 Slots Remaining)
YES NO
Shit, shit, shit. She thought, starting to sweat all over again. What do I do?!
Using her quirk on Kai was purely out of impulsive self preservation. He was one hundred percent going to overhaul her into a billion little specks of blood and guts if she didn’t.
But she’d been thinking about it lately, her quirk, and her goals for living a life in this new, crazy world.
The plot was already starting, and she was at the very least affecting the fourth season what with her involvement with this kid version of Overhaul. There was no going back from her place in this world now, not with her being smack dab in the middle of the yakuza and their future leader slash dictator.
Did she really want to involve herself with the Todoroki’s of all families too? With Dabi of all villains?
That’s basically getting herself on the future LOV’s radar without even having to commit a crime if she went through with this!
But…?
But what if she could stop that from happening in the first place?
Stop Dabi from becoming, well, Dabi?
What if, she thought manically, I could become his friend? Just like I did with Kai, and stop him from going to the peak? Or stop All for One from taking him afterwards? There has to be a hospital capable of saving his life nearby… Or! Stop him from going rouge after leaving the facility and use our relationship to prevent him from going all super villain on everyone!
As ideas of basically grooming a seven year old ran through Ashi’s mind, Touya stared up at the strange little girl who walked up to him without hesitation.
Everyone that lived in this neighborhood avoided the Todoroki children like the plague, not wanting to get on Endeavor’s nerves for “distracting” his spawn from their training. But this kid came right up to him! She must not be from around here, he thought sullenly. Once she found out who he was, she would run away from him, just like all the others…
Suddenly, her steel gray eyes seemed to gleam with a sort of look only the adults in Touya’s life did, a strange mixture of intelligence and determination.
CLICK
As the sun set behind the strange girl, it haloed her crimson red hair. A breeze of wind tousled it, turning it into a glowing fire crowning her little head. Her pale skin looked translucent next to the tan sand that surrounded them and her slight stature just screamed “protect me!”.
Touya had a sudden and uncontrollable urge to touch her feathery red hair, so close in color to his own.
“Do you have a fire quirk as well?” he blurted out, not knowing what to say in the presence of a pretty girl. He blushed as red as his tiny burnt hands as he heard just how thick his throat was with snot and tears.
He quickly rubbed his face on his t-shirt and sniffled in an attempt to hide the evidence of his breakdown.
Ashi barely heard the future villain’s question, too busy staring incredulously at what she had done.
Bond Complete!
[New Entry!]
Todoroki Touya
Quirk: Flame
Age: 7
Bond Level: 1
Fuck. She had done it. They were stuck together now, no going back.
Focusing back on Touya’s chubby, blotchy face she realized he was waiting for an answer to his question.
Shit… “Uh, sorry, but no. I don’t have a quirk.” She muttered, doing her best to appear a little sad about it. “Do you have a fire quirk?” She asked right back, widening her eyes in semi-genuine curiosity.
Fire based quirks were a dime a dozen at this point in this quirk laden society, but few of them were the son of Endeavor. And even less were the future villain Dabi.
The fangirl in her desperately wanted a look at his flames before they turned blue.
Touya straightened up, grinning. His teal eyes shone with pride. “Yeah! I gots a flame quirk! I’ve been training it and everything! Do- Do you wanna see it?” He deflated a little bit, as if she was going to say no or scold him for his enthusiasm.
Damn you, Todoroki Enji. Ashi seethed silently. She knew that the story did it’s best to humanize and redeem him, but she could never fully forgive or understand the actions of an abuser. Look at poor baby Touya here, so self conscious about his own innate power. At this point in the story, he’d probably been told not to use his flames too often, lest he burn himself.
If only he knew he had his mom’s quirk too. Ashi sighed mentally. But no one will realize that until it’s far too late for him.
Ashi widened her shiny childish eyes and drew in an only half-faked excited breath. “Would you show it to me? Really?”
All hesitation and shame left Touya’s face as he nodded fiercely and brought a lobster-red hand forward. He must’ve been practicing for hours before she came here.
“Watch me!” He declared before igniting his palm. A playful orange flame danced in the middle of his hand, about the size of a grapefruit. Ashi knew he could have easily made it larger and hotter, but it seemed like he didn’t want to scare her away with too big of a flame.
“Waaah! It’s so pretty!” She gushed genuinely, holding her hands close but not too close to feel the gentle warmth. It was hard to imagine these same flames causing so much pain and destruction later in his short life. “What does it feel like? When you hold it?”
Touya winced a little, but pushed past the stinging pain of using his quirk after practicing with it for so long. “It’s warm and tingly.” He lied.
Ashi could smell deceit a kilometer away, but let it go this one time. They’d just met after all.
“Can I sit next to you?” The sun had set by now and it was getting chilly without clouds in the sky to insulate the Earth. “You’re really warm and I’m cold.”
Touya flushed pink but nodded and scooted over to make room on the bench he’s been crying on all evening.
There was a semi-uncomfortable pause before Touya spoke up. “Are, uh. Are you a new neighbor?”
“Nah.” Ashi smiled. “I was just training in your neighborhood.”
He perked up. “Training? I thought you said you didn’t have a quirk?”
Poor social elite, unable to fathom the quirkless getting stronger. A snarky, cynical part of Ashi sneered.
Coughing a bit, she tried to answer nicely.
“I’m just training my body.” She swung her tiny legs back and forth. Despite the playground being made for kids her size, the benches were mainly for adults so her feet still hung a ways above the ground. “I get in trouble sometimes, so I decided to get stronger so that I don’t get hurt again.”
Ouch, that was maybe a little too honest there.
Luckily Touya seemed to understand, or at least tried to.
“Yeah, I get it. But… why do you get in trouble? You don’t seem bad to me.”
“Sometimes good people get hurt, no matter how well they follow the rules.” She said, staring at the play set blankly before turning to face Touya with a sly grin on her face. “But I don’t really follow the rules.”
A rush of excitement ran through Touya. A trouble maker? Her? “What rules do you break?” He couldn’t fathom anything worse than sneaking sweets or not studying.
It would break his sheltered little mind to know about her pick pocketing, larceny and accessory to murder, so Ashi just hummed. “I’ll tell you when you’re older.”
“Hah? What do you mean older? I’m definitely older than you, pipsqueak!” Touya scrunched up his face and frowned. “I’m already seven years old!” He puffed out his scrawny chest in pride.
Damn he really was older than her. Curse this tiny body!
“I’m six.” She grumbled.
“Yay! I’m older!” Touya jumped up, extinguishing his flames. “And since I’m the older one, I’m in charge!”
Ashi scoffed. “No you’re not, silly. I’m in charge.”
Touya was about to fight back, say something in defense of his declaration, when he looked into the strange girls eyes. The steel gray seemed to glow with power and experience. Touya’s knees felt weak and his skin felt hot. He swallowed the saliva pooling in his mouth, parching his dry throat.
What was this feeling? Why did her eyes, those enchanting eyes, make him want to say-
“Y-Yeah… You’re in charge.”
Wait just a minute! Just who was this girl? Why did he just give in like that? His little sister was her age, and he always bossed Fuyumi around easily. What was with him?
Touya searched his mind and heart for any scrap of indignation or disappointment, but came up blank. He was totally okay with giving in to- to?
“What’s your name?” He whispered, staring probably a little too intensely at the girl.
“Tsunagari Ashi.” She said. “But don’t call me Tsunagari.”
“Shi-chan…”
“What’s your name?”
“Todoroki Touya.”
“Touya.”
“Yeah?”
Ashi tilted her head at him. “Why were you crying earlier?”
Crud, and he tried so hard to hide it too! “Uh well-”
Ashi pouted and crossed her arms. “And don’t lie to me! I always know when my friends lie to me.”
Touya stopped functioning for a few seconds.
Friends?
Him?
And Her?
As in, the both of them, together?
All thoughts of lying to Ashi dissolved with just that one word. Friends don’t lie to each other, even Touya knew that.
Only villains lie, and I’m no villain! I’m going to be a hero! He thought, solemnly.
Touya joined her back on the bench and reignited his flames, having noticed her shiver. The cold never affected him much, but she looked chilly and he didn’t want his new, first and only friend to be uncomfortable. Not when he knew he could help.
“Okay, I wont lie.” He began. “My dad, Endeavor, is the number two hero. He said I’m gonna be the one to beat All Might and take his place as number one some day.”
Ashi nodded along patiently, warming her freezing palms against the edges of Touya’s gentle fire. She already knew all of this, but hearing it from the boy’s mouth felt special, precious somehow. He was trusting her with a part of himself that he obviously didn’t like sharing.
“I’ve been training my quirk since before I can remember. Dad says my quirk could be even stronger than his one day, but for some reason I keep getting burnt. It didn’t stop Dad from training me but one day I heard my parents talking, yelling actually, about how my body isn’t compatible with my quirk.”
Ashi saw Touya clench the fist that wasn’t on fire, scrunching up the fabric of his shorts.
“And now, it’s like whatever I do isn’t good enough! My quirk isn’t good enough. My body isn’t good enough. I’m not good enough…
“And to top it all off, Mom’s pregnant again! It’s like they just keep trying to replace me! First with Fuyumi then with Natsuo and now with this new baby!” Frustrated tears began leaking from Touya’s eyes as he shouts. “All I want is for Dad to look at me again! All I want is to be seen!”
Ashi contemplated what she wanted to say for only a moment. This conversation was an opportunity to gain an advantage in their relationship. But did Ashi really want to manipulate a child, on purpose this time? She knew what her quirk was capable of by now, was that really the fate she wanted for Touya?
But any fate is better than his canon one...
“I know I’m not family, and I know it probably wont mean much when I say it, but I see you, Touya-kun.” Ashi cups her hands closer around his soft flames as their eyes met. She meant every word this time. She saw his pain, his pressure, his strong will and powerful quirk.
Congratulations!
Todoroki Touya has reached Bond Level 2
Well that was way more effective than she anticipated.
It took all day and literally giving him a home for Kai to reach level two, but with just a couple words, Touya was already there. Was the poor kid so desperate for attention that even a stranger’s acknowledgment meant so much to him?
Ashi had found out after her experience with Kai that her quirk worked for the most part without her input. Once she initiated the bond with someone, afterwards it was all on them. Back when Kai reached level two, she hadn’t done anything to trigger it, it was all his own thoughts and emotions at work.
Basically, she figured that it was all up to how the target felt about her. Not her unlocking levels via actions like in a video game. For all she knew, Kai could one day level up even if she wasn’t in the room, just based on how he felt about her at the moment.
Although, Ashi supposed, Touya was an option for her mental examples now too.
“What did you say…?” Touya’s flame flickered, threatening to go out as he whispered. His pupils were blown out and he was trembling despite his resistance to the cold air that whipped around them.
Ashi didn’t want to fuck this up. She actually really liked this kid and genuinely didn’t want to hurt his feelings by saying the wrong thing when the poor child was so sensitive to feedback. “I see that you’ve worked really hard to get to where you’re at. Your control over your flames is impressive for someone you- our age! I see your hard work. I see your pain. I see you.”
Touya’s face scrunched up and he began to sniffle. Big blobby tears ran down his face as his fire dissipated leaving Ashi cold again.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a one hundred percent chance that it was Kai, calling her to ask where she was.
She ignored her phone in favor of opening her tiny, skinny arms out for an optional hug. Seeing her obvious offer, Touya fell into the smaller child’s embrace, sobbing.
“It’ll be okay, Crybaby.” Ashi hummed into his ear, the hug warming her up just enough to avoid shivering. “It’s okay.”
Touya’s voice broke slightly as he wailed into her neck, holding her so tight she wondered if his stupid dad made him lift weights, cause damn.
Ashi must’ve spent another ten minutes petting his hair and shushing him for his outburst to soften until all that was left was his hiccups and her wet shirt.
Touya leaned back, finally yielding his grip on the young girl’s body. I swear to whatever deity that brought me here if he accidentally gave me bruises and Kai sees them, I will personally find and kill you.
The boy sniffled and rubbed his face against the back of his arm. “’M sorry. I didn’t mean to be such a crybaby. I don’t know what happened.”
“You just got a little overwhelmed, that’s all.” Ashi began to shiver again. “It happens to all of us, honestly. And you may be a crybaby, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You’re my crybaby, after all.”
Touya looked like he was about to start crying again, so Ashi spoke once more. “Why don’t we make this a regular thing? Like, coming here to the park, not the crying bit. I don’t want you getting dehydrated all the time.”
Smacking his cheeks, Touya gave a watery smile. “Mm. Dad doesn’t practice with me anymore so I had to make my own schedule. Saturdays are my rest days, we can meet then?”
“It’s a deal.” Ashi smiled back.
Her phone rang again, incessantly this time. Kai must be calling her back to back now.
“Is that a phone?” Touya asked, a weird expression on his face. “Do you need to answer it?”
Ashi sighed. “Yeah, it’s probably important.”
“You have to leave, don’t you.” Touya pouted before suddenly brightening up. “I know! You can come to my place for dinner. I can show you my room too!”
Ashi took a look at her text messages and cringed. Yeah, Kai was going bananas without her.
“I’m sorry Touya, but there’s people that are worried about me and I need to go home.” Home. The concept was still new to her.
“Kay…” He crossed his arms. “But on Saturday, it’ll be you and me all day, okay?”
“It’s a promise. A pinky promise.”
“Deal!”
-
After an extended hug goodbye from her new buddy, Ashi ran to the street where she had been jogging and called Kai back.
“Hime-sama!” His throat sounded horse and Ashi felt bad now for making him worry so much.
“Kai! I’m okay! I just lost track of time-”
“Hime-sama, I’m begging you, please don’t do this again.” Kai wasn’t one to plead often, even to her. “I thought I lost you! You weren’t answering your phone and it’s dark and-!”
Fuuuuuck. “You didn’t lose me Kai, I’m right here and I’ll be home soon. Give me twenty minutes and I’ll be right there.”
“Don’t leave me!” Kai raised his voice. “Stay- Stay on the phone, please. And tell me where you are, send me your location.”
“Kai, I’ll stay on the phone with you but I don’t need to tell you anything.” Ashi scolded. “Remember what we promised each other? You would respect my boundaries when I’m outside of the compound and in exchange I let you sleep over whenever you want. Please honor our agreement.” Ashi had long since given up on pretending to be a child around Kai, although she still kept up the façade around Gramps. Kai was too smart and Ashi was too lazy. Luckily, her BFF hadn’t called her out on her adult-like personality. Yet.
“… I know.” Kai took some deep breaths from over the phone. “I know.”
“Then let me walk home while you tell be about your day.”
“Yes, Hime-sama.” Now there was her antisocial best buddy!
-
As Kai told her about his day after she left, Ashi couldn’t help but worry about little Touya and his future as the mysterious and destructive Dabi. About his painful end and torturous existence.
As a fan of the franchise in her previous life, Ashi always felt bad for his character. His scars, both physical and mental called to her. All she wanted was to give him a hug across the screen.
And now here she was. Given a chance to make things right. To prevent Kai and Touya from going down paths they couldn’t come back from.
Little did she know just how much darker their paths would develop due to her existence in their lives.
What they would become for her.
What they would do in her name.
But that wasn’t for some years to come. For now, Ashi would befriend and tame her adorable little psychos, blissfully unaware of the consequences her actions would have on all of their futures...
I was born a child of grace

Ashi panted as she ran, tiny worn sneakers pounding the cracked pavement, making splashes in the dirty puddles that littered the sidewalk.
She could hear adult steps running after her, closing in fast. They were several feet taller than her after all, and had much longer legs.
Should’ve just robbed a little old lady instead… She thought, kicking herself for choosing such ill-tempered targets.
Again.
It didn’t help that she wasn’t a very cute little girl, this time around. In her past life, she could get away with pretty much anything if she blinked her big blue eyes and scuffed her Mary Janes on the ground long enough. These days her ratty clothes and grime smeared face didn’t do her below-average appearance any favors. In fact, it seemed that everyone she’d met in this scary new world has hated her off the bat.
Her mother valued a needle more than her baby girl’s health and safety, the police officer named her after a nearby weed, the hospital chucked her into foster care instead of an orphanage or something, her many foster parents barely tolerated her for the program’s money, and everyone she’d robbed so far has chased her off!
Okay, that last one was kind of on her…
(Gramps seemed to be the exception to the rule, and hey, that homeless old lady also seemed to like her? Maybe old people were just built different.)
But its not like she could help it! She was technically a homeless run away at the moment (minus crashing at Gramps' place once and a while), really it was only a minor set back in the grand scheme of things. All she had to do was last until she turned however old you had to be in fantasy!Japan to get a job and rent an apartment and she was golden!
It should only be another…
Decade, plus?
Sheesh.
Life was truly unfair for the “quirkless” the poor and the female. At least that’s how it was this side of town.
Not that she was actually quirkless, she was just functionally quirkless.
Ashi was knocked out of her mental pity party when she felt a large calloused hand graze the back of her rain soaked sweater.
FUCK.
Gotta lose them! She thought desperately, ducking into a familiar alley. At the end of it she scrambled up some soggy boxes and slippery bins before hopping down to the other side.
Gramps wont let me hear the rest of it if I come back beat up. She gasped for air as her tiny lungs worked overtime to keep her moving.
Curse words and slurs were getting louder as her pursuers easily cleared the obstacle behind her.
Shit! She really needed this cash… It was her second day without food that didn’t make her puke and the hunger pains had long since past into an emptiness that felt weird. Ashi refused to ask for financial help from Gramps, not wanting him to think she was taking advantage of a kind old man like himself and end up hating her just like everyone else, so she was usually on her own finding calories were she could.
There was no other option, she needed to head back to home base, the only weapon she had was there. Terrible time to leave it behind, but hey she wasn’t anticipating having to knife strangers today! Ashi wasn’t going to kill the guys, but maybe a couple lacerations would make them think twice about picking a fight with a street urchin.
Turning into what she found to be a rather comfortable, if not wet and smelly, alley, Ashi made a break for her cardboard castle. A mishmash of mostly clean recyclables she made into a small tent-like shelter. Scrambling for the plastic grocery bag she kept her valuables in she didn’t see the scruffy young boy hiding in her shelter until it was too late and they bonked heads, hard.
Dazed and definitely bruised, Ashi stumbled back out of the shelter, knife still in the bag and not her hand.
Who the fu-
“URK!”
A large, rough fist squeezed firmly around her soft throat from behind, preventing any air from entering her tired lungs.
They had caught up to her.
Ashi shut her eyes tightly, not wanting to give the men the satisfaction of seeing her scared.
Was this how things were going to be for the rest of her life here?
Ashi didn’t struggle, there was no point in prolonging her punishment.
Her favorite manga, her favorite characters, her favorite world and all she got was a lousy start that would inevitably lead to a lousy end.
Homeless, friendless and hungry.
I haven’t even met a canon character yet… She dismayed.
Spots swam behind her eyes as her ears rang. She was passing out.
At least I wont be awake for whatever they do to me. It was an appeasing thought, not feeling pain for once.
SPLAT!
A hot, wet liquid splashed across Ashi’s face and chest as she felt her limp body hit the floor of the muddy alleyway. Gasping for air, she coughed and gagged as the warm fluid ran into her mouth. It tasted like coins and reminded her of bit lips and losing her baby teeth (a regretfully recent experience)…
Wait, this was-
Blood.
There was another person’s blood in her mou-
SPLAT!
A new shower of blood rained down on her, completely soaking her outfit and hair this time. Doing her best to wipe away the fluid from her eyes, Ashi looked up in time to see that boy, the one from inside her shelter, standing there hand raised.
The men assaulting her were no where to be seen. In their place however were two large puddles of blood and minced up skin, fat and viscera. The rain quickly began mixing the two men’s remains into the alley’s mud and garbage.
The smell hit her before the knowledge of what just happened did. It was fetid and metallic and raw. Chunks of adult man sloughed off of her sweater and jeans. Leaning over to the side, Ashi let what little of her stomach contents she still had climb up her throat and dribble out of her mouth, onto the ground.
A sound from above her brought awareness to her other senses. The boy who killed those two men was gagging too? Was it from the mess he made, or was it sympathetic from watching me?
Ashi watched as the boy spat onto the ground and growled. Whipping around, he glared at her with disgust. Stupidly, Ashi stared at him as he stalked threateningly towards her, taking in his appearance.
Given how much taller he was, he must’ve been older than her. Like her though, he was also dressed in torn, dirty clothes. His limbs were long but scrawny, like he hadn’t had a good meal in months. All of this pointed towards him being an urchin just like her, but it was the last detail she noticed that made her truly understand the danger she currently found herself in. The boy had golden eyes framed by long, feminine lashes which sat beneath distinctly shaped eyebrows. Most of his face was sprinkled with bumps, like he was allergic to the air itself.
A hand lifted towards her face.
Gold eyes.
Touch based quirk.
Hives.
Oh my god, it’s Overhaul… She froze.
As their eyes met, her quirk’s shitty little HUD popped into view, lightly obscuring the future yakuza boss’ face.
A simple pop up appeared.
Bond Target?
(4/4 Slots Remaining)
YES NO
For the past six years, literally her entire life here, Ashi had ignored her quirk to the point of pretending to be quirkless. First and foremost, what good would making faster friends be with people if you were limited to only four of them? Not to mention the wording of ‘Target’ made it sound like she would be doing something bad to someone. And lastly, something deep inside of her constantly told her to ‘wait for it’, to wait for that perfect someone, to wait for the moment that would change everything.
As Ashi stared into Overhaul’s eyes, that something deep inside her pulsed.
Now.
Now was the moment.
Chisaki Kai was the perfect someone.
Bonding with him would change everything.
Bonding with him would literally save her life.
As Overhaul’s palm inched towards her wide eyed face, Ashi selected yes for the first time in her life.
CLICK
Overhaul’s hand halted in mid air, fingers twitching, so close to her head that she could feel the heat coming off of it. His pupils constricted then dilated wide. A soft blush colored his dirty cheeks and the hives that littered his skin from either the gore, the garbage or the proximity to her filthy self, began to recede. His scowl turned into a soft gape as he stared at her.
Did it work? Ashi wondered, keeping herself still on the ground for the moment as Overhaul’s mind and body processed her quirk.
Slowly, as if Overhaul was rebooting, he full body shivered and shrunk back from her.
Bond Complete!
[New Entry!]
Chisaki Kai
Quirk: Overhaul
Age: 10
Bond Level: 1
Before Ashi could ask what was wrong (did her quirk break him?), Overhaul’s hand reached back out. She flinched as he traced the features of her face gently. Forehead, temple, cheekbone, nose. He stopped right next to her lips. His fingertips were smooth, no callouses, and his touch was surprisingly warm and painless.
He gazed at her in wonder, hives now mostly gone. Did touching her not trigger his allergic reaction now that the bond was in place? Ashi wished very badly to know what he was thinking about.
As Ashi sat there, the rain began to beat down on the children’s bodies harder than before. They were both already soaked, but Ashi knew that a reduced body temperature was just asking for illness to set in. And she also knew that Overhaul hated sickness more than anything. If her quirk was going to force them to be friends, she should at least make sure he doesn’t catch a cold.
Carefully leaving his touch, Ashi reached into her cardboard castle to grab a gift she received from Gramps. A cutesy little umbrella, perfect for a five year old girl. It was clear with stylized lavender kittens on the edges.
Ashi held it out on her tippy toes to cover Overhaul.
“Here, it might not help much cause we’re both wet, but I don’t want you getting a cold just cause you helped me out.” She forced a childish grin, fully realizing how crazy she looked right now.
Overhaul, no… Chisaki slowly dropped his arm to his side and grabbed the handle of the girly umbrella, either not caring about gender stereotypes or, more likely, not even noticing the pattern.
“You don’t care that they’re dead.”
Ashi blinked, her smile fading.
She didn’t did she? Not really at least. It wasn’t her that killed them after all, and they were chasing her with the intention of hurting her badly. She found she wasn’t very sad at their deaths in particular, maybe a bit at the general loss of life. Like a houseplant you didn’t care much about finally turning brown and limp. Sure it was a shame, but it’s not like Ashi ripped it apart or lit it on fire. All she did was neglect to water it.
All she did was enable it’s death.
Chisaki was the one to do the deed, not Ashi.
“No, not really?” She answered, tilting her head. The rain started to wash the blood and dirt off of her face. “I mean, you’re the one that did it, not me.”
Chisaki looked down at his hands, still stained red from the men’s bodies suddenly deconstructing. “I did, didn’t I.”
Well, this dude sounded apathetic. Nice regret there, buddy.
“Uhm,” Ashi looked up into Chisaki’s strikingly golden eyes. “Thank you. For saving me back there. I don’t know what they would have done to me if you didn’t, uh, do what you did.”
“I killed them because they were being loud and would have hurt me next.” He frowned softly, looking at Ashi with a rather intense look in his eyes for a ten year old. “I wish I could go back and hurt them more.”
Okaaay…
Ashi could work with this. This would be easy, talking to a budding sociopath and future super villain. Becoming pals with him. Easy.
“I think my castle has room for two, if you wanted to sit with me.”
“Castle?” Chisaki tilted his head, like a scary puppy.
Ashi gestured grandly at her pile of cardboard and plastic bags. “Ta da! Welcome to my home! I call it my cardboard castle, because otherwise I’d have to call it a pile of junk.”
“Hmm.” Chisaki didn’t seem to understand the concept of radical acceptance or DBT techniques at all (considering how reactive and unstable he was, probably even as a child) but crawled into the castle anyways. He sat with his knees to his chest in an attempt to make room for Ashi, which was kind of sweet and made his lanky body look smaller and cute.
Don’t squeal, don’t fangirl. Don’t squeal, don’t fangirl. Don’t squeal, don’t fangirl. The mantra ran through Ashi’s head as she crawled in after him. She was so small that she fit with room to spare.
There was a surprisingly comfortable silence for a few minutes, the two children just listening to the heavy rain come down on the roof of the shelter.
“Why did you invite me into your castle?” Chisaki asked point blank. “I could hurt you. I was going to hurt you.”
Well at least the guy was honest.
Ashi pretended to think for a moment, the rain filling the silence. “I don’t think you’d hurt me. Not right now at least.” If her quirk worked the way she was starting to think it did, he’d most likely never lay a harsh hand on her. “And to answer your question, it gets boring being homeless. When I’m not trying to sleep, pick pocketing or digging through trash, I’m just sitting here.”
“Why not wait around where it’s… cleaner?” Chisaki glanced around their surroundings, grimacing at the grime. Bumps slowly started to appear on his neck and face as he remembered where they were. His breathing grew faster. “Surely you could spend your days at the park?”
Ashi had to act.
Grabbing his larger hand in her own, Ashi squeezed. “Truthfully? I’m a run away. If I spend too much time out and about, I’d definitely be reported. A grimy, five year old without an adult near by? I’d be caught and put right back into the system for sure.”
Chisaki tightened his grip on her hand. “You ran away too?” He was staring again, but thankfully her touch seemed to help his reaction, the hives receding.
“Uh, yeah. Did you?” Redundant question, dummy.
“Mm. From the orphanage. I got in trouble for hurting the diseased rats that lived there with me.”
Ashi knew he was talking about people with quirks, but he wasn’t supposed to know that she knew that.
“You hurt rats? Don’t they usually hide away from humans?”
Chisaki scoffed. “I meant those filthy quirk infested brats. This society is diseased, worshiping an illness that’s taking over humanity like a plague.”
That was one way to put it.
“Oh, you’re talking about quirks!” Ashi perked up. “I don’t got one.”
“'Don’t have one.'” Chisaki automatically corrected her purposefully bad grammar. “I know, I could tell you were pure when we touched. You felt clean and unadulterated.”
Uh… His quirk-dar must be seriously off or something, because Ashi definitely had a quirk. It was literally the only reason she was alive right now.
What do you even say to that?
“Thanks?”
“Hmm.”
Another comfortable silence.
“Chisaki Kai.”
What?
“What?” Ashi blinks.
“My name. It’s Chisaki Kai.”
“Ah! My name is Tsunagari Ashi. Nice to meet you Chisaki-san.”
Chisaki grimaces. “Please call me Kai. I don’t really like my last name.”
Ashi grinned and held up their entwined hands. “Really? Same here! My mom didn’t give two shits about me, so I refuse to use her name. Ashi is just fine.”
Kai’s eyes soften. “We’re a lot alike.”
“Seems so!”
The rain began to slow, but Ashi’s brain sped up. She was in the My Hero Academia universe. She’s met Chisaki Kai. She’s in his hometown at around the time he met Pops and became a part of the Shie Hassaikai. Ashi just happened to know an old man who lived in a compound with a bunch of suited up guards that taught her how to pick pocket…
Holy fuck, Gramps was Pops! How the fuck she didn’t pick up on that before was beyond her.
Ashi swallowed hard. “I know we just met, but I think there’s someone you might wanna meet…” Was it risky introducing Kai to Gramps, er Pops, at all? Would doing so doom Kai to a world of evil and inhuman experiments?
Kai stiffened. “Meet who?”
“He’s an old geezer I call Gramps, and he’s a good friend of mine. If you don’t have somewhere to stay, you can always crash at his place, I swear he wouldn’t mind!” Ashi stroked the back of Kai’s hand with her thumb in an attempt to calm him.
Kai relaxed a bit under her ministrations and hummed, thinking her offer over.
“…I’ll have to meet him before I agree to anything.”
Ashi let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “I just know you’ll like him. He’s a nice old man.”
“Adults always disappoint me.” Kai spat. “They tell me how to act and how to think, but they don’t know anything.”
“Yeah, most grown ups suck.” Ashi said honestly, even though she too was technically an adult.
The pattering of the rain on the roof of their shelter was beginning to quiet. The rain was stopping.
“Hey, let's get out of here.” Ashi grinned at Kai, tugging him by his arm out of the castle.
“But-” Kai’s eyes went wide. “But what if you’re spotted and they take you away?”
Huh?
“I’m super sneaky, so don’t worry. Besides, everyone’s inside right now to avoid the rain, there’s no chance we’ll be caught.”
“But-!” He stood up.
Ashi blinked her steel gray eyes up at Kai as cutely as her current form would allow. “And even if I was caught, you’d break me out and keep me safe right?”
Those seemed to be the magic words Kai needed to finally shut up and follow her, a soft, dreamy look in his eyes. Was the kid seriously daydreaming about pulling off a jailbreak?
I mean, it’s Overhaul, I guess it checks out. She peaked around the next corner before turning with Kai in tow. They were getting close to the compound now.
“Hey, so-”
“Ashi!” The two children jumped as Ashi’s name was called, Kai whirling to face the threat before tugging the smaller of them behind him. He whipped out his hand hovering it in front of the wall they stood next to. Ashi knew what kind of property damage Kai’s quirk could pull off and panicked.
“Wait! It’s Gramps! I recognize his voice!” Ashi shouted, grabbing Kai’s outstretched arm and hugging it to her chest. “Don’t do uh, whatever you were just thinking of doing.”
Kai short circuited at the arm hug just long enough for the older man to reach them. He was probably sixty five to seventy if Ashi were to guess and always held a tender smile for her.
“Ashi, my dear. Who’s this young man with you?” He asked nicely, although Ashi could tell he was being careful with his words. Wait, did he think she was being taken somewhere against her will by an older kid?
“This is Kai! He’s my new best friend!” Ashi rubbed the side of her face against the arm she still held captive. Some dried blood flaked off her cheek from the movement and-
Oh yeah. They both looked like they walked right out of a slasher flick.
No wonder Gramps looked so concerned.
“Hello, I am Chisaki Kai. It’s nice to meet you Gramps.” Kai lowered his head slightly as if realizing how this all looked. “Ashi has told me about you.”
“I see.” Gramps seemed to have made a decision because his careful expression melted into one of sympathy and understanding. “If you’re okay with going somewhere new with me, Kai, I can let you use my bath. Although, you should probably shower the blood off first.”
Kai’s eyes lit up at the mention of a hot shower, his usually dull eyes gleaming. How long has it been since the kid was able to wash himself? Ashi wondered as they began following Gramps to the compound.
“Full disclosure, kid.” Gramps said as they entered the main gate, nodding at the bowing guards. “If you’re going to stay the night, this is a dangerous place. My men will not hurt you, but we have enemies. And they will not hesitate to kill you just for associating with us, even if you’re just a kid.
“I can protect myself. Ashi too.” Ashi’s eye twitched. She could totally protect herself! Well, not that he’d seen so far. But still!
Gramps grunted. “How old are you anyways?”
“I am ten, sir.”
“Good lord, these tykes will be the death of me.” Gramps muttered, leading them into a hallway. “Take off your shoes and go bathe before dinner. No if ands or buts, Ashi, I will be feeding you tonight. Take Kai to the washroom. We’re eating in an hour and a half.”
-
Since Ashi refused to bathe together with Kai, despite neither of them having hit puberty yet, they took turns cleaning themselves and soaking. It took a little longer that way, not doing it at the same time, but Ashi was adamant that she not see manga villain Overhaul’s ten year old private parts.
She gagged at the thought.
Ashi didn’t have any brothers in her first life, never dated anyone and died a virgin. She had zero experience with naked males and wanted to keep it that way for as long as she could.
Shaking her head from the thought, the now clean children entered the kitchen.
Ashi and Kai were wearing some of the spare clothes that Gramps bought Ashi in an attempt to convince her to stay at the compound, so although Ashi’s t-shirt and shorts fit perfectly, Kai’s outfit was a little small on him.
The kid was stick thin, but he was tall for his age.
The kitchen’s eating area was western in style with a dining table, chairs and place mats. Ashi suspected that Gramps had another dining area separate from this one that was more traditional in style and function, but the American in her appreciated the break from fumbling around Japanese traditions.
Kai hadn’t let go of her hand since she exited the washroom after he was done. The kid was being a little creepy, but hey, maybe that’s just how child Overhaul was default?
Dinner was miso soup, rice and grilled fish. Gramps must’ve known that the two of them likely hadn’t eaten in a while and wouldn’t be able to stomach anything heavier than that.
Ashi had to pull her hand out of Kai’s to sit at her own chair. Kai’s resting bitch face turned bitchier.
“Thank you for the meal.” The three of them gave grace before digging in.
A few minutes of silent eating went by before Gramps attempted small talk.
“So how are the clothes, Son? I know they’re not really a boy’s style but it was all I had.”
Kai was wearing a t-shirt with a print of a magical girl group from a toy line and TV show Gramps thought Ashi would be into someday. On his lower half was Ashi’s largest pair of jeans. The ends of the pants rode up to Kai’s mid calf when he sat.
Ashi thought he looked silly, but if the boy noticed how ridiculous he looked, he didn’t seem to care.
Kai swallowed his mouthful of miso politely before responding. “They’re clean so they’re fine.”
Ashi had come to notice that the boy didn’t talk too much around other people. Was he shy as a child or did he just not have much to say?
-
Nearing the end of dinner, Ashi noticed that Kai had drank his broth, but picked around the seaweed and tofu. Every grain of rice was gone but the fish was left untouched.
Was he a picky eater? I mean it made sense, kind of. Maybe his flavor of OCD made certain textures hard for him to eat?
But if so, how on Earth did this kid live on the streets without starving? Did he steal food to get by? He didn’t seem subtle enough for a pick pocket, although if he did get caught his powerful quirk could get him out of trouble easily.
You can’t afford to be picky when you don’t have a roof over your head. But hey, mental illness is hard to overcome.
I’ll ask him later.
“So Gramps! Can Kai stay with you for a while?” She interrupted one of the older man’s stories of the glory days. “He’s like me.”
She didn’t have to say anything more. It seemed like Gramps had already taken to the quiet boy, maybe seeing something in him that Ashi didn’t yet.
I hope I’m not making a mistake…
“I’d be happy to offer him a room in the compound. For as long as he needs to stay.” Gramps gave the two of them a fatherly smile.
Kai shallowly bowed his head at the man. “Thank you, Gramps.”
“Ah, don’t call me that, Son. Despite what Ashi may think, I’m not really all that old. I’ve long since given up on correcting her, but I can at least get a good start in with you.”
Kai was silent.
“How about you call me Pops, yeah?” He patted the boy on the shoulder.
Kai cringed at the touch and tried to subtly shake him off. “Yes, Pops.”
Noticing Kai’s blooming hives and panicked face, Gramps snatched his hand away like he had burned it. “I’m- I’m sorry son. Did that hurt?”
“No. No I just-” Ashi saw that Kai was having a hard time explaining his mysophobia to him so she jumped in.
“Kai, why don’t we get ready for bed?” And to sweeten the deal. “There’s only one child sized futon, so we’ll have to share, I hope that’s okay… Goodnight, Gramps!”
Little kids shared beds all the time, right? Friends bonded this way, right?
Taking the out that she gave him, Kai and Ashi grasped hands and ran to Ashi’s occasional bedroom.
It was a barren room with a rolled up futon in a cupboard that Ashi requested Kai bring down, since she was too short.
“Thank you. For helping me.” Kai told her as he helped her fluff up the bedding.
“Oh, with Gramps? Yeah, he can be-”
“No! I mean…” Kai seemed to struggle with his words. “You- you found me. And brought me here and fed me and-”
“Whoa, Buddy!" Ashi held her hands out before her, shaking her head. "Gramps was the one that fed us, and this is his home, not mine. I can only take credit for introducing you guys.”
Kai settled on top of the futon before tugging Ashi down to sit in front of him. “No. It was all you.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand.”
Kai’s fidgeting hands stilled, before he looked up. His expression was fierce and his eyes feverish in their intensity. “You don’t know, so I’ll tell you. If you didn’t convince Pops that I was your friend, I would be dead right now.”
Ashi inhaled sharply. “Gramps would never-”
“That man is powerful, and he knows I’m a threat. Maybe if we weren’t covered in blood, he would have pitied me immediately, but I’m not blind to how we looked back then.”
“Then, if I hadn’t…”
“Yeah.” Kai released her hands, shuffled backwards off of the futon and sat seiza.
Ashi was about to reach for the boy when Kai lowered his head to touch the floor in a full dogeza.
Ashi blushed heavily and sputtered, hovering her hands above the prostrating boy. “Kai?! What on Earth are you-!”
Congratulations!
Chisaki Kai has reached Bond Level 2!
“Please allow me to follow you, Ashi- No. Hime-sama.”
Ashi gaped at her quirk’s HUD. This wasn’t normal, not in any of the friendship’s she’s ever had. Bond level two and her new mysophobic BFF was willingly exposing himself to germs in an attempt to convince her to allow him to be her, what? Follower? Servant? Is this a Kai-exclusive thing, or was there more to her quirk than met the eye?
Pushing her questions off to the side, Ashi groaned. “Kai! Please sit up! I don’t remember the last time I swept and I don’t want you to-”
“Every second I am not able to spend with you is a wasted second, so please don’t let me squander a moment more!” Ashi could see Kai shaking as he continued to push himself so close to the ground.
“Will you let me get a damned sentence in?!” Ashi wanted to smack the back of his head very badly, but reminded herself that adults don’t hit children, no matter how ridiculous they were acting.
“Yes, Hime-sama.” The shaking was growing worse.
“If I allow you to call me that, will you get the hell off of the floor?”
…
“No.”
Hah?
"No? What do you mean, no? Kai, you're ten. You don’t have to-" Ashi stopped herself, biting back the urge to yell. "This is ridiculous. You can’t just throw yourself on the floor like that. Tell me, what will it take for me to get you to stop torturing yourself?"
“Let me be with you.”
“I don’t like people that way, Kai.”
Kai, surprisingly, blushed down his neck. “I- I meant like a subordinate! Not, not a uhm…”
Ashi sighed before patting the back of Kai’s head. His short hair was soft and fluffy now that he was clean. “Okay, fine. You can stay with me. Lord knows why you’d want to, but if it’ll get you to stop doing this then yeah, sure.”
Kai raised his head to stare up at her, wide eyed. “Thank you, Hime-sama.”
Ashi flopped backwards on the futon, pinching the bridge of her nose. “What is with the Hime-sama?”
Kai got up only to lay down on the futon next to her, holding her free hand. “Pops is a powerful man and from his stories, you are his next in line. It’s only appropriate to refer to you as such.”
“How’d you get that from his stories?” Ashi wrinkled her nose at Kai.
He only stared. “He has no heir, you’re the only logical option.”
Groaning, Ashi let go of his hand. She pulled the thick blanket over herself and rolled onto her side. “This conversation is NOT over, Kai. You’ll come back to reality sooner than later.”
But Kai only shook his head. The concept of reality was far behind him, his future as Ashi’s best friend and right hand was all he could think of now.
All that consumed him.
The two children fell asleep like that, one troubled by thoughts of quirk side effects and the other satisfied with whatever his only friend could give him.
For now.
Because if Ashi thought Bond level two was cause for concern, she couldn’t even begin to comprehend the true ramifications of using her quirk.
First up on the posting block will most likely be some one shots.
Meet Kai
and
Meet Touya
Those will be stories about how Ashi met the first two of her yandere friends and why she activated her quirk with them. The fics are almost finished, all they really need is some editing and then they'll be posted so keep an eye out. c:
Here is a list of all the warnings I could think of regarding my BNHA Yandere AU, it is subject to additions and changes.
General Warnings:
(Soft) Yandere Content – If you’re looking for sadistic Dom daddy yanderes that isolate, lock up and torture their unwilling love interest/victim, this is the WRONG AU for you. Expect my four yanderes to be respectful, protective, kind and submissive towards Ashi. Everyone else though? That’s another story.
Age Difference – Ashi is mentally 40ish years old trapped in the body of a 5-7 year old during the first arc of the AU when the budding yanderes are actually kids. Reciprocated/accepted romantic actions only occur once everyone is physically and mentally of age after the time skip into the adult arc, however there is still a large power dynamic imbalance.
Grooming – Ashi at times knowingly manipulates the feelings of the yanderes while they are not only young, but also during turbulent and traumatic key moments in their development.
Emotional Non/Dub-Con: Due to the nature of Ashi’s quirk Bond, her relationships with the yanderes are technically artificially imposed and instigated without their knowing or will.
Polyamory – I normally wouldn’t label polyamory as a warning, but I’d like everyone to be aware of the specific flavor of poly I’m writing here. It will be a hetero polycule using the vee relationship model, where multiple partners are involved with one person and not each other. If you were looking for some slash on the side, you wont find it here, sorry.
Death, Gore, and Violence – Given that this is an AU based on an action series there will of course be violence involved, but since this AU is ALSO based around the presence of yandere characters, it will be turned up to eleven. They will torture and kill people, it will be described, and they will receive enjoyment out of it.
Self-Harm – There will be canon-typical depictions of self-harm, (thanks Tomura).
Severe Mental Health Issues – The yanderes as both children and adults will exhibit symptoms of mental illness of multiple kinds. Outside of occasional quips of “psycho”, “OCD”, “schizophrenic” and “sociopath”, the specific disorders will not be mentioned by name or represented accurately.
Romanticization of Mental Illness – Yes, I will go there sometimes. Ashi’s Bond will make the yanderes feel better yet also make them much, much worse. This will be romanticized and used for relationship development. It will not be accurate. If it helps, I will be using my own experiences with my own mental illnesses in the writing.
Abuse and Violence from Adults Toward Children – There will be adults in the story that will harm children. They will be physically and emotionally abusive (not limited to Endeavor). They also have a 99% chance of dying horrifically.
Story-Specific Warnings:
Tomura's Siscon Kink – I gave Tomura a "siscon" kink mostly ‘cause I thought it would be funny, but also because plot reasons. He’s called Ashi "Nee-chan," since he was a kid and his warped mind and obsession with her flipped a switch or crossed a wire somewhere and now he’s got an incest kink. Sucks to suck.
Ashi’s Aromantic and Asexual Identity – Ashi is both aromantic and asexual. She doesn’t experience romantic or sexual attraction, but still strongly loves her yanderes in a queerplatonic manner.
One-Sided Relationship – Ashi’s relationships with her yanderes are one-sided. They hold strong romantic (and sexual) feelings towards her, but she does not reciprocate the way they feel. Not exactly.
Acceptance of Dynamics – While Ashi’s relationships with the others are one-sided, everyone involved are accepting of this dynamic, and hold mutual respect for each other’s boundaries.
Physicality – Ashi will not initiate romantic actions, but will reciprocate their affection because despite the flavor of her feelings, she still loves and accepts them for who they are and how they feel about her. There will be kissing and possibly touching later on. I haven’t decided on that last one. The yanderes are horny, but I am decidedly not.
If there’s any other warnings I feel I should add, I will update this list. If you need any elaboration on any of my points, shoot me an ask and I’ll do my best to help you understand.
