The line-up includes musicians Aretha Franklin, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Nadine Coyle, and Constantine Maroulis; business magnates Donald Trump and Sir Richard Branson; actors Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, and Bridget Moynahan; producers Randy Jackson and Timbaland; golfer Rory McIlroy; DJ Bob Sinclar; and WTA founder Billie Jean King. Key WTA players were also included: Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Caroline Wozniacki, Li Na, Victoria Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska, Sam Stosur, Petra Kvitova, and Ana Ivanovic. The 48 Hour Film Project
The past weekend welcomed The 48 Hour Film Project, which started 6pm at Dim Mak Studios. The competition invited 1600 filmmakers to produce a film in only two days. As if the time constraint wasn't challenging enough, they were required to use a given prop, genre, character, and line of dialogue within their film. Submissions will be screened and judged at Laemmle's Noho 7 Theater from August 13th to the 16th and compete for a trophy, screenwriting software, and a screening at Filmapalooza 2013. Check out the details on the website here.

Taylor Steele and Todd Heater work with One Teaspoon to film a short video featuring model Erin Wasson for the Australian brand's upcoming Summer 2012 collection, Love Cats. Filmed in Venice Beach, the estival short is sun kissed and casual, laced with just the right amount of grunge. Watch the film above to get a taste of Love Cats.
The BRAVE Awards ceremony takes place tonight! Premiering at Leicester Square in London, the event will be announcing the winners within three categories: Campaign Braves, Content Braves, and Technical Braves. The BRAVE, or the Brand and Video Awards, aims to commemorate the use of video by brands. The Campaign category recognizes the best use of video in advertising, while the Content highlights the art direction and aesthetics. The Technical Brave is the one least seen in the final product, honoring the best technical contributions such as distribution, analytics, etc. Visit the website for the shortlist, and good luck to the nominees!
Taylor Steele's new movie premiered on International Surfing Day, June 20th, at Paradise Point Resort and Spa in San Diego at a unique paddle-in event. Did you catch the screening? Let us know!
How did you spend International Surfing Day? Surfers both pro and novice took to the waves all across the globe. The Surfrider Foundation hosted over 130 events everywhere, and for those who couldn't attend they hosted an ISD Web-a-thon for 8 hours to capture the action in the waters. In honor of ISD, here is the first installment in a new adventure series from Reel Sessions: UNcharted.
The premiere of surf film, Here & Now, draws closer than ever. Scheduled for its first showing on June 20th, on International Surfing Day, the film is unique in that it was shot entirely in one day. It documents the lives of surfers around the world, boasting big names such as Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Rob Machado, and several others. Produced by Taylor Steele, the same man who brought us Castles in the Sky and Sipping Jetstreams, and directed by Nathan Myers--this film is definitely one that we'll all be waiting for.
RS friend Taylor Steele is slated as one of the collaborators in Richard Phillips' new film, First Point, featuring Lindsay Lohan. With pro-surfer Kassia Meador acting as Lohan's body double and Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk behind the original score, the "day noir" will be premiering at Art Unlimited at Art Basel on June 11th.
"Is it a film? Is it an art video? It refuses to announce itself as either." Watch the trailer below to see for yourself.
