Making her way inside, Edith was thankful that Reese had let her come in, especially at this time. “ Thanks, I just really needed someone to talk to, is all. ” Placing her bag by one of the chairs in the kitchen she sat down and held her head. “ Do you guys have an ice pack? My lip is killing me. ” She asked, pressing a light touch to her busted lip before flinching slightly.

Reese walked to the refrigerator and opened the freezer door. “We do not have an ice pack at the moment, but we do have some frozen peas.” She pulled out the bagged vegetables and handed them to her friend. “Do you want anything? Food? Tea? Coffee? Anything?” Reese bit her lip. “You can always talk to me about anything. Are you okay?”

Edith had officially lost it. She hadn’t meant to start the fight, but in a way that asshole started it. The words he said never got under her skin before, but when certain this were mentioned, when he c r o s s e d that line, her mind shut off. Not being able to hold her words in any longer, she yelled at him. Soon an argument turned into a fist fight which led up to her packing a bag of clothes and heading elsewhere for the week. What made her even more upset was that her aunt was taking up for him. A complete stranger over her niece? That says a lot, doesn’t it. During the altercation, she texted a friend and asked for their address, knowing that she was not going to stay in that hellhole for another minute. They took the keys to her car, so walking was her only choice. It was late at night, and she didn’t really trust bus stops at this time. Once approaching the home, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer it. Rocking back and forth on her feet, she looked up at the person who answered it. “ Heeey. Can I — maybe, you don’t have to say yes — stay for the rest of the week? ”

Reese rolled over in her bed, picking up her phone to look at the bright screen. It took a second for her to focus enough to read the text. It had been from Edith. She seemed upset, asking to come over. It was late, but that didn’t bug Reese. The small brunette rolled out of bed, in he giant t shirt, slipping into her slippers, she shuffled out of her room and down the stairs. She waited in the kitchen, sitting at the island, with a glass of milk and cookies. She heard a knock and she hurried and open the door. As soon as Reese saw Edith she pulled her into a big hug. “Come in, come in. Of course. Mi casa y su casa... My dad won’t even care at all. Come on.” Reese wrapped her arm around the other girl, leading her through the door and to the kitchen.
