I am an Indian. It's 20th of July 2026 today. It's a.. I won't say historic day, but surely an important day for India in the context if protests against something. What's big enough about this protest is that.. It's not against any bill or against some changes that the govt brought, or protest for some humanitarian rights, like, rape etc.
This is the peak day for the peaceful yet damningly serious protest against the deeply flawed education system of this nation, it's for the numerous paper leaks that happened, for the 20+ students aged below 20 killing themselves because of those paper leaks, it's demanding for the resignation of an evil minister, dharmendra pradhan.
Now my stand on this is as follows- obviously, the leaders who ignited this protest at first hand are not the correct people, they have their hidden political agenda, hatred towards the current govt, ideals of hate against the religious majority of this nation, no clear vision for the aftermath or conclusion of their protest, just.. Yk some people just using the voice and presence and energy of the youth, of students of the future of this nation for their gain, for fulfilling their personal political gain and their religious/groupist vendatta.
Thats about the leaders. Only them. THE FOLLOWERS THOUGH. the students, the 50thousand students who have come to join in this peaceful protest, they are true. They are right. They are magical. They are the change. They are revolutionaries.
I do not feel like writing anything more about this as I am feeling lazy to actually be able to organize and segregate and systematically arrange my thoughts and points on this, they are too much and too scattered, but I just want to say this-
Ever since I was a little girl, I've seen on the TV, protests at jantar mantar, delhi, students coming out, raising hands and slogans, fighting and voicing for their rights, and it has always stuck with me, it was very romantic to me, too beautiful, made me 'feel' and to such an extent that, all i ever wanted was to be there, to be in delhi, to be a part of something that great something that energetic something that glorious.
But i couldn't. I couldn't go there, ever. My dreams were shattered because of my primal sin, laziness and a mixture of cowardice fear no confidence and responsibility. So I diverted paths. I've been trying for past nine years, I was 17 then, it was june 2017 when that dream broke, I'm almost 27 now, it's July 2026.
And I'll tell you what has changed in me while all has changed in me through all that trying. I support the government now. The current government that is, but then again, I am aware of how fucked even that is, so I just want to overlook the fucked-up-ness and I've learnt now how to do that, how to overlook stuff, and I want to only focus on the shiny part of it, the part where I get a flat, some govt amenities, my stable paycheck of 80k+ when I get in my preferred department position, all the things I could do with that money, the prestige of a govt job, the honor of it. Also I kind of am in favor of the current govt except I intensely loathe it for one thing, which I cannot overlook and therefore it burns my chest and comes out in form of tears- the disgusting treatment of environment of this beautiful country. That, is what I cannot forgive and try so hard to forget. Anyways. So yeah. I'm a govt supporter now. So I kind must not find the beauty in protests, right?
I thought I changed. But no
I'm the same wide eyed girl whose heart strings still play the same way as they did on the stories and the events of honor, revolution, hands and slogans raised, art used to convey whatever one wants to convey oh I'm the same girl who finds revolution incredibly beautiful, who likes to be a part of the politics, and of the protests.
Life definitely has worn me down. I now think more about money, but life hasn't completely took over me, it hasnt completely defeated me. I'm still me. I still got so much left in me, so much fight left in me, so many wins left in me.
So maybe right now I cannot raise my hands and voice for making a better nation, but I can raise my hands and voice for making a better future for me.
