“…Emerald has been doing this for a long time. All those times she would disappear for days on end, not on the island? Those animals she used…they’re long since buried. You can’t keep mortals alive forever, and unfortunately…Emerald can’t use the same one twice.”

Uvite seemed devastated. “I don’t wanna be Emmys friend anymore…”

“Uvite, Emerald still loves you…”

"No she doesn't!"

“…Emerald has been doing this for a long time. All those times she would disappear for days on end, not on the island? Those animals she used…they’re long since buried. You can’t keep mortals alive forever, and unfortunately…Emerald can’t use the same one twice.”

Uvite seemed devastated. "I don't wanna be Emmys friend anymore..."

“Forgive me, Emerald…”

Fire Agate put Emerald’s gem in a bubble and made it disappear. She took out her sword and growled.

“I don’t wish to fight you, but if I have to, I will.”

“I don’t like you! You’re mean, Emmy is mean and she hates me!”

“She doesn’t! I know Emerald from her gem and back; she truly loves you, and that’s why she didn’t want you to know she’s been avoiding you for this reason!”

“She didn’t need to shatter my friends and leave me lonely and want me to leave.”

“There are plenty of others animals! She’s smart enough to not kill them all–”

Fire Agate stopped, lowering her weapon.

“You really don’t know or understand, do you…?”

"I don't care if there are others, I want all of them!" She wiped away more tears.

"Understand what?"

Fire Agate put Emerald’s gem in a bubble and made it disappear. She took out her sword and growled.

“She doesn’t! I know Emerald from her gem and back; she truly loves you, and that’s why she didn’t want you to know she’s been avoiding you for this reason!”

Uvite CANNOT handle death at all, especially when it's animals.

Fire Agate put Emerald’s gem in a bubble and made it disappear. She took out her sword and growled.

“I don’t wish to fight you, but if I have to, I will.”

"I don't like you! You're mean, Emmy is mean and she hates me!"

“Uvite, please calm down…”

She refused to calm down. She’d snapped, it was too much to take in. She loved every animal on the island with all of her heart, and being only slightly older than a toddler, she couldn’t handle the concept of death.

“Uvite!” Fire Agate reverted to a loud, commanding voice, glaring at the young gem. “Stop that this instant!”

"NO! SHE HURT THE ANIMAL FRIENDS!" Uvite yells. She'd never acted this way before. She needed to be kept off the ground, or her powers would get out of control.

“Uvite, please calm down…”

She refused to calm down. She'd snapped, it was too much to take in. She loved every animal on the island with all of her heart, and being only slightly older than a toddler, she couldn't handle the concept of death.

“Uvite…she was doing it to protect you.” Fire Agate put her down and picked up Emerald’s gem, cradling the teardrop-shaped stone in her hands.

“She knew the possibility of killing you was too great, and she couldn’t just use humans…animals were her only option. They’re in abundance…but they don’t do what she wants them to do. She shouldn’t have been angry enough to go into her snapped form, though…something else drove her there. Do you have an idea on what?”

Uvite shook her head. “She was like that ever since I saw her today… I’m scared. I want the animals to be awake.”

“The animals won’t wake up, not the ones she’s used. Think of it as their gems being shattered, if they had gems; she did that to them.”

Fire Agate looked at her directly.

“It’s best you return to your temple. Emerald will need to stay with us; the chance of her snapping again is too great for you to handle.”

"N-no... No! NO!!" Uvite started to flail in her arms, kicking and screaming.

“Uvite…she was doing it to protect you.” Fire Agate put her down and picked up Emerald’s gem, cradling the teardrop-shaped stone in her hands.

Her gem started glowing again, this time the energy being channeled straight to Uvite. The smaller gem would suddenly feel an intense amount of fear, and even without that, she would be scared, for Emerald had positioned her lance right where Uvite’s gem was.

Before she had a chance to strike through, a dagger was thrown at her, effectively impaling her in her stomach. Uvite was dropped and so was the lance. She retreated into her gem in pain and shock.

“Uvite!” Fire Agate ran towards the gem and lifted her up. “Are you hurt? Did she do anything to you?”

Uvite hit the ground, starting to cry loudly. The tremors stopped when she was lifted off the ground.

She clung to the larger gem, still wailing and in pain. “E-Emmy hates me!”

“No, no…she doesn’t hate you, she didn’t know what she was doing…”

Fire Agate was horrified, to say the least. Emerald had snapped…Emerald had actually snapped, on Uvite, no less. There had to have been something else that cause the green gem to lose her cool, because Uvite would never be someone Emerald could bear to harm in her right mind.

“Emerald must be the reason there are so many dead animals…she was using them…”

"Why!!!" She whined, wiping some tears. "S-she knows I love the animal friends. Why would she do that! I'm... I'm mad!" And that was a feeling Uvite had never felt before.

“You’re powerless like this…” Emerald started chuckling. “I enjoy that.”

That was it. The last bit of patience Emerald was trying to hold on to in her panic and anger had slipped away, Her green eyes flashed dangerously with power.

“Fine then…you want to know what happened to all the animals friends…? Then I’ll show you what happened…With you as the main example!”

She rose to her full height, her gem glowing as she released anger from her. Without even having to try, she trapped Uvite with her psychic energy and took out a lance. A smirk spread on her face; she had power here, and she knew it. She could toy with her prey as much as she wanted.

Uvite trembled, yet she was not on the ground so her powers did nothing at all. "You're being really scary, Emmy! Why are you doing this?!" Tears formed in the corners of her eyes.

“Uvite, I said to go back to the temple.”

“Leave me, Uvite! You shouldn’t be here!”

“I don’t wanna leave! What’s going on- why does everything seem wrong! Please tell me!”

“You don’t need to know that! Everything’s fine, I swear it is. You have to be back at the temple for now, that’s all. I’ll be there later.”

"Did you hurt the doggy.... Is that why he wasn't waking up..?" She didn't move from her spot.
