My cousin Havi @h.4vi is a trans woman living in Mexico City, she is an artist and DJ struggling in a society that condemns and oppresses transgender people. Havi and her friends are some of the few brave individuals with the courage to use their voice. She is fierce, fearless and a beautiful soul full of light. Some time ago when I went back home we had the chance to spend some time together and take some pictures of her, she also shared with me some of her thoughts: “Since I arrived in the city, I was lucky enough to meet people who began to support me since I identified myself in a more indefinite range of the binary spectrum, although I always had more inclinations toward the feminine, since the beginning of my transition, my friends have made me feel accompanied with all the decisions I have made to be more comfortable with myself, my family is a completely different story, there was a strong initial rejection that forced me to leave school and start looking for ways to earn money to avoid conflicts and a strong psychological oppression on their part. Of all my family I only have contact with some maternal cousins like you, my brother and my aunt of my maternal part that gave me a home when I needed it.” #thisiswhatnonbinarylookslike (at Mexico City, Mexico)
