During the dangerous sea crossings from Turkey through the Mediterranean Sea to Greece, Italy and Hungary, many refugees live in overcrowded boats which are unhygenic, uncomfortable and are subjected to the rough weathers, which has led to the drowning of many refugees when their boat sinks. This has contributed to the rising death toll of many of these refugees, the most poignant of which was the drowning of the 3-year old Syrian boy Aylan Kurdi in September 2015.
‘I want the world to know about the conditions we are living in’: 11-year-old Syrian refugee Yamama shows journalists around her makeshift home within a disused warehouse
Refugees are not given proper housing, amenities and heating despite millions of pounds being devoted to the care and welfare of the refugees. They live in appaling conditions, going without cooking items, no hot water, and constant power failures.

The refugees do not get their full human rights and are subjected to poor living conditions.

let's talk: addressing a question we all have in mind
Question: Why should I lend a helping hand to these refugees when it has nothing to do with me?
Our reply: This issue seems far from home for us - so why bother right? Empathize. Refugees are humans too - just like us. This means that they too are entitled to human rights, which are inherent to all human beings. However, the issue is that these refugees are fleeing governments that are either unable or unwilling to protect their basic human rights.
Question: Such as what basic human rights?
Our reply: Like the right to security of a person, water, sanitation and food - all that we tend to take for granted. As a fellow human being, do you not think that we should help our own race, the human race?
OVERVIEW States have been granting protection to individuals and groups fleeing persecution for centuries; however, the modern refugee regime is largely the product of the second half of the…
We hope that with this link you can understand more on the rights that refugees should be entitled to.
Refugees should be entitled to the basic human rights as well.
The UN says the Czech Republic’s measures to deter migrants and refugees appear to be an integral part of government policy.
Refugees often face a violation of human rights such as the right to free legal aid.
Article 8 of the United Declaration of Human Rights: Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.
The Rohingyas have faced prosecution for many years and horrible atrocities such as rape have been carried out on them. Thus, many of these Rohingyas leave their shores and travel to Australia where they think that a safe haven awaits. However, they are put in the Christams Island Immigration Detention Centre while their applications are being processed. This process usually takes up to years, and the refugees are kept in very poor living conditions. They are given very limited freedom, extended lockdowns, subjected to violence from guards and other detainees, amongst others. We should all so our part to help these detainees and put pressure on the government to improve living conditions on Christmas Island!

The poor living conditions that the refugees live in are in direct defiance to human rights, where everyone should be entitled to good and safe living conditions.
