“if you love this character then you must make him happy in your fics, right?” wrong. the horror. suffering. internal hemorrhage. hospital. immediately
The whole Alucard/Anderson dynamic is basically Alucard going “existence has become all but a fairy tale for me, so I’ll be the dragon, and you be the dragonslayer” and Anderson going “bet” without an ounce of hesitation.
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life.
EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe.
EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person.
*AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.
Burn scars are not body horror, that includes chemical burn scars.
Prosthetics are not body horror.
NOT having prosthetics is also not body horror.
There is no disability aid that is body horror.
Congenital differences + disabilities are not body horror.
AND acquired differences + disabilities are also not body horror.
Real people are not body horror.
If you are uncomfortable or scared because someone looks different than you that is YOUR PROBLEM. It is your responsibility to get over it, or at the very least not make it everyone else's issue. Play the quiet game.

Something was wrong here.
Alucard took in the warehouse from the door he had just forced open, quiet and heavy with the scent of death - and buzzing with a strange, angry chittering noise that he couldn’t hear, but could feel. It hummed in the air with unfamiliar magic and obvious fury, and Alucard had no idea what it could be. It sounded almost like the angry buzzing of an insect, but it was clearly coming from a magical or arcane source, one that he had never before encountered.
Alucard stepped further into the dusty, dimly lit warehouse, walking past rows of pallets and shelving racks, heading towards the scent of blood. His footsteps did not ring out in the large space. He kept his presence purposefully quiet, a decision made due to the strange nature of the situation. It was never wise to meddle with unknown magic, even for a being as powerful as he was.
When considering this mission Integra had decided, somewhat grudgingly, that the risk was too great to send human soldiers, or even Seras. His fledgling was young and unaccustomed to any kind of magic, much less magic of the unfamiliar sort. And so Integra had ordered Alucard to find and retrieve an unknown magical object not listed in the Hellsing archives - which was quite a feat, being that the Hellsing archives were one of the largest sources of magical and arcane knowledge in the world - after receiving a lead that the object was likely being kept within this warehouse district.
And so, Alucard was here.
The chittering grew stronger the further into the warehouse he walked. Alucard gauged it to be coming from the front of the building, and he turned to head in that direction. Looking up through the racks towering around him towards the sound, he caught glimpses of windows high up on the wall ahead, overlooking the working floor below. It was a second level, likely offices. There looked to be an open area beneath the offices where the rows of shelves ended and Alucard caught sight of bay doors and several parked forklifts; it was where the scent of blood and death was strongest. He approached silently.
Alucard walked out from between the final rows of shelving and into the open space - and froze instantly. There were about a dozen or so dead bodies strewn about, all cut down in various messy, grisly ways, as he had been expecting.
What he had not expected was Alexander Anderson, sprawled flat on his back in the center of the carnage and dressed only in a pair of tight, black boxer shorts and his usual silver cross.
Alucard instantly spread out his shadows, feeling out the entire floor of the warehouse for the threat as he analyzed Anderson’s body. He didn’t bother checking the upstairs offices as there was obviously something up there, undoubtedly the very thing he was looking for. Alucard was now close enough to know that the object likely held some kind of sentience, and he didn’t want whatever it was to come down - not before he could figure out why Anderson was basically naked and laid out flat on the floor.
All he found was a single living human in a dark corner of the warehouse, injured and cursing quietly as he bandaged a profusely bleeding slash in his thigh - Anderson’s work, obviously. The human was clearly not a threat to either of them, so Alucard turned his full focus to the priest. The human couldn’t get far, not with a wound like that. Alucard would hunt him down for answers soon enough.
After he had addressed the priest.
He approached the man slowly, narrowing his eyes at what he saw. Anderson was panting hard and sweating profusely, a puddle of sweat actually pooling beneath his body. He was flushed head to toe, and wisps of steam rose up from his skin in the cool warehouse air. Alucard stepped beside the man and raised his brows - because Anderson was sporting a very pronounced and very large erection that his sweat soaked boxers were doing absolutely nothing to hide.
I’ve been listening to this song almost non-stop, and it doesn’t line up with the Andercard vibes exactly - but I love the twisted, affectionate violence of burning everything and screwing everyone over for the one you love, which in my opinion is an element to the Alucard/Anderson dynamic.
I see the refrain from Anderson’s perspective, because Alucard is “his monster”, and ultimately Anderson did do all that he did at the end of Hellsing for Alucard. He knew the Major’s plan and jumped right into it because it was an opportunity to actually kill Alucard.
I also love the ties to Dante’s inferno, with Anderson being Dante and Alucard be Virgil, in a twisted mirror version. Because Anderson does leave Alucard behind, falling by Alucard’s hand - both a representation of what Alucard wanted - to fall by Anderson’s hand - and a gift to escape Alucard’s own fate. And just like how Hymn to Virgil is an alternate universe where Dante decides to stay with Virgil, I listen to this song as an alternate universe where Anderson stays with Alucard, rather than throwing everything away in one final, impulsive act.
