[Kiran moves to put his arm around Reggie to fit both of them in the camera frame.] Yo, don’t act like you got other mates, yeah? We’re your bois! Oh, and don’t worry, mum, I’ll make sure we all get our homeworks done before, since I’m the responsible one, you get me. Miss you, though. [Kiran whispers in Reggie’s ear to say I love you in Korean on the count of three.] One, two, three… Saranghae!

[Snorting, Reggie pinches Kiran’s side.] It adds ten pounds of something alright. Ten pounds of ego, maybe. [Bumping her hip against his when he pulled closer, she rolled her eyes with a knowing smile.] Yeah, yeah, you’re my bois, I’ll concede to that. But don’t think for a second you can fool Ma into thinking you’re the responsible one. What a joke that is, right Ma? We all know who really keeps you lads in line. [Turning to face the camera, she nodded and prepared for the count.] Saranghae! Can’t wait to tell you all about the movie when we’re home! [Waiting for Kiran to cut off the camera to signify he was done taping, she tapped her foot.] Did Ma ask for an update or something?

Your narrow world is too Amma Avery-centered to call out atrocities, especially when your own fucking family that you have such loyalty for are the ones supporting and committing them. [Gritting her teeth, Reggie rolls her eyes, annoyance clear on her face.] You’re telling me. I swear I’m being punished for something.

Your brain wouldn’t be able to comprehend the power of The Force, so I’m not going to even bother to explain. You never cared for Muggle things anyway.

[Reggie unfastens a parcel, holding up the contents inside] Holy shit. Ma sent me Star Wars tickets. Midnight fuckin’ premiere here I come.

Nina was very much proud of her proficiency in bulshitting History of Magic papers she had no actual interest in writing. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the subject, quite the contrary. It just seemed rather shallow to study pre-Statue Goblin wars when there were much more important matters going on. “Diplomatic relations my arse! Professor Binns is absolutely nutty. But really, what can you expect from having a ghost for a teacher? Death Eaters and Order members fucking things up and he wants to talk about Goblins. Honestly.” 

To give her sanity some credit, Nina didn’t realise she was thinking out loud. Really, it was a simple case of exhaustion. The girl had been at the library for at least two hours and the mental exercise was starting to take its toll on her mind. It was when someone answered what she believed was going inside her head that she finally thought she had gone completely bonkers.

Reggie, ever the devoted student, was trying to get away from the noise in the library. She herself never would have imagined getting so invested in what was going on, but she found the whole bit ridiculous at the moment. Perhaps it was because she had straddled both sides for so long that she saw it differently. Regardless, the war was really putting a damper onto her goals and her fun, neither of which was acceptable. She tried to keep her focus, but that was made impossible by the screaming coming from the table behind her. Turning her head, she let out an exasperated sigh, setting down her quill. 

“Sweetie, you’re preaching to the choir. Going about class as if nothing’s going on is a bit asinine, but to be frank, I’ve never been one to place much faith in either organization. Or adults, really.” Not that the teenagers were fairing much better. Lifting up her books and easily sliding in to sit next to Nina so they could carry on their conversation, Reggie glad to have someone more on level with her to talk to or once, she continued, “None of us are safe here, yet here we remain. You’d think after the first lockdown stint back at the start of the year, something would have at least changed if they wanted to keep us here, yet I feel as if it’s more like we’re fenced in, like lambs for the slaughter when the wolves want to show their teeth.”

“I won’t argue it.” She admired Reggie. ( Envied her, too, if only a little. She had done what Bronwyn could only dream of. ) “You certainly made your point, then. A hot date… me?” A bout of laughter followed the question and she shook her head, “no. It’s just another social. My mother sent me the dresses, actually. The last time she did this I ended up betrothed, so maybe I should be more suspicious.”

It is not so much a stretch to believe you could land a hot date.” Thus why ‘sweets’ seemed the only sort of nickname to fit Bronwyn. “If Hogwarts had better pickings of fish in the sea, that is. But it gets slimmer and slimmer by the year.” Once she heard of Bronwyn’s betrothal, she let out a sympathizing laugh, not mocking the situation, but finding the whole thing grotesque. “Christ, and what slimy sod did she tie you to? You poor dear. My own parents seemed to realize early on that I was a lost cause and they would have been definitely barking up the wrong tree if they pulled a stunt like that.”

Reggie did prepare herself, telling herself that she was going to react positively, no matter what. She was a bit too weak for Willow sometimes, but she liked seeing that girl smile. And while the pun that came wasn’t something that knocked on Reggie’s sense of humor, she pursed her lips, taking a moment before her mouth curved into a grin. “Good one, Willow. And when are you going to finally open up that comedy club of yours? Get yourself a bigger audience for these puns of yours.”
