hey lobster! quick question─ i plan to participate in kinktober this year, buuut it’s my first time doing so. i’m familiar with what i need to write, and i pride myself on being organized (I’m just neurodivergent and keep everything in order). any recommendations or advice?

Hey!! So idk if I'm the best person to ask because I primarily over organise my chaos but I'll give you a lil insight to my Kinktober process thus far.

So, kinks. When I've been uninspired I've googled kinks (be careful) and asked my moots what they'd like to see and that's helped tremendously. Also posting a poll if you're trying to choose between ideas is good bc then you can see what people really want if you're unsure. But do remember, write for yourself! This is honestly the perfect time to write for yourself if you haven't had the courage to when it comes to smut specifically, because if you have an insecurities or issues, it can be a very good way to over come them and help deal with them. Also a great time to push yourself a bit, but not too much. Try things you've been curious about writing (I'm writing my first male reader!) but don't make the writing process directly uncomfortable/icky for yourself.

Anyways, rambling, sorry!

I started off my listing as many kinks I could think of and weeding out which ones I liked. It's important to give yourself the time to come up with actual ideas rather than just see if you can copy paste a character into a situation, because I've found myself doing that from time to time and it's very easy to fall into.

I have like three lists of 31 or so kinks that I scribbled out and have been working on, and I have a shit ton of half started drabbles, and I still don't know what I'm doing for all of them. It's okay to not have it all structure yet, it gives you freedom to come up with new ideas!

Personally, I use Ellipsus for all of my writing and I could go on about it for days lol, but I've had the best results with a "dump doc" as I call it, that you have open most of the time so you can write any and all immediate ideas, and for the Kinktober part, I have a separate doc for Kinktober that I only put my finished fics in. I use the formatting options to make drop down section, each titled as such:

The numbers aren't specific to days just yet, only what I have done since I'm only 12 fics in, but this has helped me to see how many fics I have for each character and the kinks I've already written.

You knew Tony from some gala way back when, funding for your hospital at the time. You never expected a few moderately forced moments of conversation to lead to working with superheroes, but here you were.

He told you one of "his guys" was working on something and hit a wall, asking, or moreso heavily suggesting, you come in and pull him out of the depths of his old lab.

Only, he just might have failed to mention the fact that his guy was Bruce Banner, the man with seven PhDs and his own genetically modified alter-ego.

Safe to say, you were very impressed with his work.

When Tony introduced you two, you couldn't help but stare as he mumbled at his whiteboard, scribbling down an equation before turning back to look at you with a confused expression.

"The whole Hulk smash thing, right?"

"Hm?"

"You're worried I'll lose my temper and kill you, that's why you're watching me? Lots of people think that, I-"

"Not at all" You looked at him confused, the thought never having crossed your mind "You've bee saving the world for a good few years now, I'd imagine you'd have it under control"

"I-I do, yeah" He took a moment, surprised, no one ever really thought ahead like that, not when it came to this "Ohhh, so you're a fan then?"

"Well, kinda" You looked down, a little embarrassed.

"It's fine" He let a small smile slip "Lots of people like The Hulk-"

"No, I'm a fan of you"

"Me? Like, this me?"

"Unless there's another you in the room, yes"

"Really?"

"Of course. Your Hulk-related research is astounding, but I've looked up to you from the beginning of your career"

"Tony told you to say that, didn't he?"

"No. Dr Banner, you're pretty amazing"

He paused, not used to the compliment whatsoever.

"I'm sorry" You started "I've made this awkward, I shouldn't have- I should go, you're better equipped for this than I could ever be anyways"

He caught your wrist as you started to walk past, soft, just stopping you, not pulling or tugging.

"I really need an outside perspective, if you're comfortable"

The corners of you lips tugged up, nodding with a bright expression.

"Alright, what do you need me to do?"

He put you to work right away, spending weeks together in the lab, running every test he asked, twice as efficiently as Tony. Sure he was a genius, but man could that guy talk.

Over the next month, Bruce's gazes lingered a little. Watching you test another sample, the determination in your eyes, steady hands. He tried to keep on with the work, but he couldn't help but drift to you.

He was the smittenest of kittens.

Finally, one morning when he brought you your exact, perfect coffee order, he worked up the nerve to say something, the distraction being too much to balance along with the actual work.

"I uhm, I was thinking-" He stammered"

"Ooh, a breakthrough?"

"Not exactly"

"I'm sure we'll get there, Bruce" You smiled softly, pressing a chaste kiss to his temple, returning to your microscope.

"Actually, I wanted to uh- talk, to you. About a thing"

"Yeah? What thing? The phosphate issue? Because I think I found a solution"

"No, I- you did?"

"Yeah, a solution solution" You grinned, presenting him with a small vial "This should balance out the deficiency, but I haven't tested it yet, you wanna watch?"

"In a minute, first I-"

"Bruce" You looked him in the eyes, taking his hand "Would you go out with me?"

"What?"

"On a date. You, me, somewhere that is a laboratory. Whaddya say?"

"Uh- yeah, yes, please. That'd be- nice"

"Perfect" You grinned, spinning back in your seat, adding the solution to your slide.

He watched, seeing it work wonders, fixing the problem you ran into weeks ago.

"That's- how'd you come up with that?"

"It's all about an outside perspective" You shrugged, flinging your lab coat over the back of the chair, taking his hand.

"Where are we going?" He asked, following you out the door.

"I skipped breakfast and I don't wanna wait until dinner to go out with you"

"Oh" He said softly, a smile tugging at his lips.

dean x reader where you find a raccoon or opossum outside and decides to bring it into the bunker and take care of it. you clean it and makes sure it doesn’t have fleas or ticks (or rabies if it’s a raccoon cuz fun fact opossums can’t get rabies!). dean is very not thrilled when he finds out you want your new pet to sleep in your shared bed. he is even less thrilled to see you cuddled up with them at night instead of him. he pouts like a sad little puppy and climbs into bed next to you, looking at you like he’s been kicked to the curb and isn’t just sharing the bed with your pet. you giggle a little and open your arms wider, keeping your new pet tucked to your chest while still making room for the love of her life. he warms up to the new guy slowly but surely, eventually feeling like something’s wrong if you two don’t have your furry companion snuggled up with you at night (maybe you also get a doggy bed in case it wants to sleep alone, and it does for the first time when he’s already gotten used to sleeping with it)

And maybe the first time it decides to sleep alone, Dean barely sleeps through the night. He's tossing and turning at all hours because something doesn't feel right, but he isn't quite sure what.

So, when he finally drifts off out of pure exhaustion and you get up for a glass of water, he wakes up after a few minutes without your presence, the poor thing feels like he's been deserted.

He tries to play it cool, pretending he's asleep when you come back, but the moment you pick your furry lil baby up and place it in Dean's lap as you snuggle into his side, he's letting out the most contented sigh you've heard come from him, and he sleeps like a baby.

Dean looks for rings for you too, the second he finds something with a sun or moon he's getting it, and when you find matching ones for the two of you, he has to pretend he isn't borderline giddy, so happy you want to show how much you love him.
