Week 7 Q 5

In a fifth post, identify your final Klout score at the end of Week 7. In no less than three sentences, conclude why you think your Klout score increased, lowered, or remained the same. Discuss your social media engagement during the seven-week course.

My Klout score is 46.75 which has increase since the 9 or 10 I had when I first started this class. I think my score could be a whole lot higher if I was online more or using these social media outlets more often. Due to the hurricane, I was left without out power, I had to leave the state and when I returned home, my A/C was damaged. It has taken about a month to get back into routine with everything.

Everyone on my twitter account is a new follower, I didn’t have Twitter pror to this class, I now have 24 followers, most from this class. I am following 134 people, mostly celebs and news stations.

This post on twitter was abotu game of thrones, the last episode for the season. I got no response, no likes no nothing. Perhaps we don’t have GOT fans in this class.

I just went through my twitter account and I didn’t have any retweets. I don’t know why, I guess my post wasn’t worth the retweet.

Week 6 Journalist

For my assignment I decided to write on the journalist Mrs. Lauren Duca. I feel she is a digital native not only because she is younger and probably grew up with all this new and fancy technology but because she has over 300k followers and over 33k tweets. She not only uses her twitter account for her work but also for personal use. I see post of her going out with her friends on here and just simple tweets of her views on things. Based off her twitter account, I can definitely tell she is bias and against President Trump. I wished as a journalist she would be unbiased and focus on the subject verses putting her own opinion on the matter. Based off the number of followers she has, I think she does have a online influence but it is not that powerful. I say this because it states that she has been a member with twitter since 2011 and if that is the case, I would have expected her to have a lot more followers. I also think her page lacks articles or links to any. Her page just seems like your typical page of anyone else. It stated she is a award winning and losing freelance journalist so with that said, I would like to know what she has won. I do like though she has a sense of humor but it just doesn’t seem like she is open to hearing the other side of things which is sad. I feel that if you are a journalist, you need to relate to the whole audience and not just one point of view. You need to be able to see everything from all sides and try to figure out why people do what people do. By just posting hate and your one-sided view you are nothing more than a glorified protestor who spreads her chants and views online, instead of the streets with signs.

Week 6

After Facebook received a torrent of criticism from the media and from their own employees, the founder Mark Zuckerberg finally admitted that Facebook may have affected election results. After first labeling the accusations as “a pretty crazy idea,” he relented and took responsibility. Do you think Facebook and other social media platforms had a hand in the outcome of the presidential election? Why?

I wouldn’t say Facebook had a huge effect on the 2016 election outcome. It was just another source for media. Granted Facebook probably had more views then your typical late night news viewer. I think the only difference was, is that Facebook gave people the opportunity to post their thoughts and views of the election, bringing more attention to it the topic. Everyone had a opinion. Everyone had their own thoughts and views. Facebook arguments were trending. I remember it was so bad at one time, where people were unfriending one another because of their views and expressions on who they were going to vote for. People became divided. The fake news spread like wild fire on Facebook. If someone didn’t like a certain someone and seen a post of a article stating something bad about that particular person, they were quick to respond and share, so that they can get others to go along. I think this is how Facebook had the most impact. It was so easy and simple and quick to share making here say news to real fake news. One of the key takeaways that fueled the Fake News is the fact that people are advertising more online and Facebook is well ONLINE. More viewers and they say, word of mouth is the best kind of advertising and that cute little share button on Facebook is just the same as word of mouth.

SEO/SMO Tumblr Post

What could have been done to optimize the site further?

I decided to write about my employer’s website which has just been revamped to improve our SEO, so it is actually ironic how we are talking about this in class. Some of the changes we did was adding certain keywords on the main home page, such as Knee, Shoulder, Hip, Pain, Tampa, Villages etc.. This way Google for instance can help us target people searching for these topics. After watching the videos in this week’s lecture I think we could have changed the words in the actual address bar, so we can be easily found. We do have alot of links in our page. We also link out to other businesses such as Care Credit and Medi Loan. Our social media pages are linked which I think helps too. The only think I feel we can improve on is perhaps lowering the amount of information on the page. It seems like all our keywords we want to use is exposed under additional information. So there is a lot of repetitive information out there. It seems like it has too much but again it could be very helpful when people are searching for information, it can all be in one place.
