blood dripping down their face, thereâs evident bruising already occurring. the bloody knuckles combined with the other wounds scattered across emoryâs body make it seem like theyâre in a lot more pain than they actually are. but given the fact that they NEVER feel pain, thatâs an easy thing to accomplish. walking out of the bathroom with their gym bag on their shoulder, theyâre shocked to see someone still lingering outside the impromptu âarenaâ. â  ya know⌠most people LEAVE after a fight. â their voice is strong, still high on adrenaline, carrying itâs usual after-fight raspy-ness.

fingers playing with the edges of his sweater, heâs visibly nervous. heâs never been a fan of galleries, not because he doesnât like his work, itâs because he doesnât know what people think about the pieces⌠and the thought of that makes his skin CRAWL. the urge to just disappear comes with this anxiety; even though he knows it's a widely inappropriate time to do so. letting out a deep breath, his hands flatten against his skirt before moving to lean back against the wall. the only thing getting him by at this point is how heâs sold a few works by now, and that means he wonât be stressed out for rent money.

â iâm your DEALER, not your MOM⌠you canât keep stopping by for dinner & shit, iâm here for you if you want molly; not if you want spaghetti. â  though theyâre not making any attempt to move them from their spot at the kitchen table.. no, campbellâs too nice for that, theyâre just going to glare at them as they cook.

now, how many times has the other told him that he needs to start being careful? too many. yet, somehow cessair managed to spend his afternoon in the back of a cruiser, bruises lighting up the sides of his face. the cop whose handcuffâs heâs wearing is on the phone with someone, the only words the male catches are âidiotâ and âteenagersââ he would of caught more but that one song thatâs on that jeep commercial on so heâs a little more into singing along than he is to following this guyâs conversations. itâs not long before the officerâs doing his paperwork and heâs sitting in central booking, twiddling with the stapler on his desk. cockiness drips from his every actionâ but this is cessair weâre talking to? did you expect anything else. heâs told that heâs got several hundred dollars worth in bail thatâs needed before he can leave. itâs only a trespassing and vandalizing charge, heâs got that money and a lawyer thatâll get him out of it. nodding, heâs led to the pay phone. knowing the number off the top of his head he dials, a smirk on his lips when they answer the phone. âokay babe, guess where i am RIGHT now?â

louis.
louis cackled, shaking his head, âsheets are not made of the same thing and it looked tacky. you know we needed the cutest one for our living room, not something cheap.â he said, smirking at harry from across the room. it was true, harry had tried to convince him for hours that their extra sheet would do the same exact thing and louis just rolled his eyes. the fighting was something that happened later; their love story was absolutely beautiful in the beginning and louis constantly relived those wonderful memories. he took a deep breath and finished checking out the colors and moved back to harry, leaning against the chair, âwell you can be one of my amazing guests at my next gallery. i would love to have you there.â he said, grinning. liam was not going to be happy about this once he realized that himself and harry had contact again. he blushed even deeper and shuffled his feet nervously, ââi couldnât get you out of my headâŚyouâre my muse, always.â he whispered, nervous for harry to even see the paintings heâs done recently about him.
a smile tugs its way onto the boyâs lips, finding comfort in the dynamic that they still manage to have. this reminds him of the good days, the ones where he wasnât finding comfort in the bottom of a jack daniels bottle--- he was finding comfort in louis. the only problem was the vast amount of time that went between the good days and the bad days, the latter outweighing it most times. âwhat do you have against tacky---? i love tacky... thatâs why i made you let me put all of those solar dancing things on the windowsills. tacky is cute.â thereâs the slightest tone of defensiveness on his voice, but itâs easily outweighed by the joy thatâs so evident in this conversation. heâs missed him so much, and now that he has him back in his life heâs unsure of what else he could possible want. âwhenâs your next one? other than boring business parties and court dates iâm normally free all the time... well, maybe not the fifteenth thatâs ja--â his boyfriendâs name almost slips from his petals, and heâs nervously glancing away from the other. he feels guilty, like itâs his fault that he hasnât stayed single, that heâs found someone else he can tolerate enjoy. it makes the smile fall from his face, mind coming to the realization that he has more admiration for the boy across from him than he has for the one heâs actually dating. âlou---,â a sigh falls, and heâs running his hand through his short hair. âi donât deserve to be that... not for you at least.â
gUY S I JUST GOT ACCEPTED INTO MY FIRS T CHOICE AND NOTHING ELSE MA TTER EZS OH MY GO D
louis.,
the good memories were his favorite. he could talk about how harry used to teach him to bake or louis would try to teach harry how to paint all day long. he tried to forget the bad timesâbut sometimes they would wash over him like a wave. louis let out a loud belly laugh, ââclearly, a blanket is a blanket and a tapestry is thin and see through. you are absolutely crazy.â the male said, shaking his head. âiâll never forget when i sent you to the store for a tapestry and you brought me a blanket.â he laughed, holding his tummy as he did so. those were the best times. louis blushed softly, âi mean, weâre trying to be friends now, right? we can hang outâŚ.you can come see my art and i can come see your fancy apartment.â he said, smirking. he didnât know how well it was going to work in the beginning, but he hoped they could work their way back up to a great friendship. he smiled slightly as he took a picture of the color scheme of the office and turned back around, taking a deep breath, âso you obviously can tell there is a theme with them. they are all about you.â he whispered, not even caring to just let it all out there.      Â
"they look the same though---! the only difference is that a tapestry is a shitty blanket, itâs practically a sheet... which is something you always wouldnât accept as a tapestry.â a smile toying on his lips, heâs thankful that theyâve managed to build a positive rapport. heâs not sore how heâd be able to stomach a situation where theyâre unable to do anything but fight, he couldnât even handle it when they were dating. there was a pit in his stomach when they were referred to as âfriendsâ, even though thats what they were now-- thatâs all they can be. he just now knows that heâs not going to be able to face his boyfriend tonight; not when he realizes heâll never care about him in the same way he cares about louis. âfriends... yeah, definitely. iâd love to actually be able to go to one of your galleries and not have to just linger outside.â the smile turns into something sad, looking down at his feet for a moment. though his eyes whip right back to him at the mention of his own paintings, butterflies fluttering through his chest. âi-- i noticed after you named a series of paintings after the alcohol i used to drink all the time.â

louis.,
there was a part of louis that felt absolutely sick to his stomach to think that he was in the room with someone he loved so much, yet someone who hurt him terribly. but it felt nice to be in a good place now. he shrugged his shoulders, ââitâs okay, you can forget about it now. itâs over.â he whispered, wishing he could reach out and touch his leg, try to comfort him a little bit, but there was no way he could do that. he looked around the office and nodded his head, chuckling, âoh i know you were never good at it, why do you think i did all of the decorating in our old apartment.â he said, rolling his eyes. it was true, louis just had an eye for interior design as well as art and things like that. harry pretty much relied on him for that when they moved in together. ââyou were just good at cooking.â he said, smiling. when he spoke about the business party, louis was just standing up to look around the office and he slowly looked back at him, âi-iâŚ.uhmâŚi could do that. if you want me there, i will come and check the place outâŚ.â he said, his eyes sparkling for a second when he spoke about having his paintings, ââyou have some?â he whispered, his heart swelling with happiness.
no matter how much the boy across from him could try and tell him that it was in the past, that there was no use feeling bad about it now-- he was forever going to worry and hate himself for what he put him through. even when his heart raced when louis walked into the room several minutes ago, he knows that nothing could ever happen again; the other deserved more than him. besides, the male does have a boyfriend, not that heâs eager to tell his ex about him just yet. not when heâs just now getting him back into his life. âlisten---! i tried my best, how was i supposed to know that there was a difference between tapestries and plain old blankets! they look the same to me!â a smile erupts on his lips, thankful to find one positive memory from their relationship to think about. âas long as youâre up for it, youâre always welcome.â standing up when he does, heâll walk around to the other side of the desk, leaning against the edge as lou looks around the room. thereâs a soft blush creeping up his neck at their words, reluctantly letting his eyes meet his. âwhy would i get rid of them? i always knew you were going to make it-- i... i even bought one of your pieces a few years ago at a show. iâve always supported your art, you know that.â
louis.,
the apology was hard for louis to actually hear and accept. he had told himself over the years that he had forgiven harry but all the emotion was coming back and he had to take it all in, ââyou were an amazing person, underneath all that, you were still the same harry i fell in love with when i was 17.â he whispered, knowing that it was completely true, âyou know i forgive you.â he said, cracking a small, sad smile just to show him that it really was okay. it definitely was a tough time for the both of them but they pushed through that and they were at pretty good places in their lives. he flinched when he used âlouâ and swallowed thickly, âi canâŚ.uhmâŚcheck out the spots and color schemes of the places you want them so i can match them up. but iâŚwould have to see your apartment.â he whispered, not really wanting to go somewhere so private with the both of them.Â
oddly enough, the male hated the idea that louis forgave him so easily. what he did was terrible, there was no excuse for letting the addiction ruin his life and the otherâs. his hand ran through his hair once more, a habit that was most definitely more comforting when his hair was longer. âexcept the person i was when i was seventeen would never of done that to you...â thereâs shame in his voice as he looks down from the otherâs eyes; he doesnât think heâs ever going to stop feeling guilty for their past. clearing his throat, he taps the pen against the table a few times. âyou-- you can look around here, where ever youâd like. iâve always been terrible at interior design, you know that; you can decide where youâd like to put things.â the mention of how theyâd have to go to his apartment, and the way he said it, caused a soft frown to take place on his lips... heâs thinking for a moment, eyes lighting up for a second when he comes up with a solution. âiâm... well... thereâs this business party iâm throwing tomorrow night that you could come to if youâd like? itâs, itâll probably be very boring for you-- mostly investors and wealthy clients, some business friends. but, i... uh-- i, still have some of the paintings you gave me way back hanging; and theyâve always been a hit. you could probably get some business too.â

louis frowned, thinking about the last time they ran into each other and shook his head, ââi was already having a rough night that night, i had gotten dumped because i wasnât over you yetâŚ.â he said, scoffing and looking up to meet his beautiful emerald eyes, âand then it was so ironic that i see you as soon as it happened. with someone all over you.â he whispered, shaking off the memory as a few chills ran down his arms. it was terrible to think about. as he looked over harry in his handsome suit and amazing physique, he felt happy that harry must be happy and living healthy. âwellâŚuhm..anyway, about the paintings. do you have anything specific.â he whispered, trying to steer the conversation in a new direction, ââit can be whatever you choose.â
"iâm--- iâm sorry.â his voice slightly cracked as the words escaped his lips; very rarely did the brunette ever admit fault for the things that he did. in this situation, however, it was the least that he felt he could do. âi wasnât a good person at that point, especially not for you.â there was an uncomfortable atmosphere filling up the room around them; talking about their past isnât a light subject... he should of known better than to continue talking about it. his hand fiddles with a pen from his desk, rolling it between his fingers. âyou always knew what i liked lou-- louis.â thereâs a grimace shown for a quick second, gone as soon as it came. âi was thinking something for the office? --and then something for my apartment too. youâd probably be better at figuring that stuff out than i am, you always were at least.â
