she nodded, smiling lightly at the picture of herself she had in her mind. hair tied, sneakers on, running or doing crunches. or with a suit on, swimming laps in the pool at an agonizingly slower pace than reina. she laughed. it would probably be fun.

“okay, as long as you’re not embarrassed by the degree of which i am not as hardcore as you are, we should make it a date!” she giggled.

she did enjoy the blonde’s company. amaya was reminded vaguely of the fact that reina knew rhiannon. with a smile, she brought the other girl up. “you know, i just saw rhiannon! we were talking about going to see all kinds of cool things in germany. i’m not sure how into concentration camps one can be, but you should come with us! or not. you know i love inviting people to things but i hate it when they say yes out of obligation. you don’t have to say yes, i was just offering.” she shrugged.

the blonde offered a smile, her mind already musing the image of the two working out together. she typically went alone, so the idea of company was thrilling.

“ you could never embarrass me, don’t be silly. and besides, i’m not hardcore. not yet, at least. i’m mediumcore. it’s a date, then ! when are you free ?  ” she questioned.

amaya’s company was always welcome in reina’s life. she brought a sense of warmth and shed a positive light on concepts reina typically deemed to be dull and unfulfilling. at the mention of rhiannon, reina’s eyes lit up. as if bound to routine, reina’s mind raced with fragments of their past together, especially honing in on the intimacy of the quiet nights they shared in rhiannon’s bedroom. 

“ oh, ” reina froze momentarily, “ i’d love to, but only if you’re sure i wouldn’t be intruding. ” reina promised herself she’d seize any opportunity involving spending quality time with a certain blonde she cared all too much for.

amaya admired reina’s security. as she stood in front of the girl, she could tell that reina was taking care of herself. and not in the nature of taking care of oneself to be acceptable, or pretty, but amaya could tell just by the way reina stood and smiled, she was taking care of herself for herself. and amaya could dig that.

     “i don’t think your an exercise freak!” she laughed. “however, i think i‘ll take you up on that. if you’re sure the time goes by quickly.”

amaya’s mind was draw off a little ways, appreciating reina’s confidence. something that amaya had observed was that nowadays, people did everything for the sake of other people. the selfies were all strategically posted and only posted after being edited to slim things and polish things off. amaya thought that the generation of follows and likes forgot what it meant to just be okay without such things. amaya didn’t want to just look good she wanted to be good. 

     “do you just….run? or lift weights? will i need to spot you? what, the bar itself is 45 pounds, i’m not sure i could even lift that…” she was rambling, her mind skipping around the idea of working out.

reina grinned. amaya’s presence was one most people always enjoyed. the brunette happened to be one of the few reina actually wanted to be around. she was a vivacious spirit, always willing to give positive input. she saw the beauty in people and their surroundings, a skill reina had not been able to master. 

    “ will you really ? ” reina clarified, “ i promise ! time flies at the gym. trust me. i never would’ve guessed, but it does. ”

her mind drifted to a past that wasn’t so long ago. the thought of interaction before the age of technology made reina wonder how rendezvous were organized, what people did when they were bored and lonely, and how people kept in contact. she figured she’d be lost without her cellphone by her side, yet something about the spontaneity of the past was still alluring. 

   “ i do different things depending on the day. some days it’s lifting weights, other days will be more ab-oriented. there are times i won’t even go to the gym, just run a couple laps around the pool, ” she explained, suddenly realizing there was no method to her exercise.

She was dark, full bodied and aged to perfection with an earthy robust flavor and a touch of spice. Once opened, she needed to breath to enjoy to her wonderful bouquet and smooth finish. Like any good wine, she lingered on the tongue and went down beautifully.
