Alien: Earth (2025) personal opinion
My biggest complaint with Alien: Earth is that you can clearly see which episodes got the whole budget, and which didn't.
Streaming platform's TV shows have this issue where the first two or so episodes start with big action, which clearly got half the budget, but gradually get shorter and also more boring and cheap as it approaches the end, which is less than 10 episodes for most.
The Xenomorph looks like a guy in a costume. Cause it is, but it's not supposed to be so obvious that it looks off. It's a creature, not some guy.
The Aliens became huge horror figures to cinema, they weren't just thrown into the action randomly without a whole "mise en scène" for only a short, but effective, apparition. With the atmosphere given by soundtrack, effects, sets, and the cast actings obviously, the Xenomorph and/or Face Hugger had you on the edge as much as the characters themselves were.
The first film started as an obvious metaphor to sexual assault/abuse, and I understand that it's now a big franchise that wants to explore things and stray from it's origins but I dislike how they turned THE horror figure of pure violence and dread into a tameable animal and "pet" with a scene straight out of HTTYD.
I enjoyed the TV Show first few episodes, but I don't expect the final to drastically change the current opinion that I have of it. Actors did a phenomenal job, with Kirsh, Kavalier and Slightly being my personal favourites, but not enough to carry a gradually dying plot, which is becoming a habit of streaming platforms.
It's my personal opinion and how I felt about it, obviously you're allowed to completely disagree and share your own opinions, as long as it's not driven by any non objective bias.
