In this verse Langa Hasegawa is around 19-20 years old, he’s co-signed a one year lease on a studio apartment with Reki Kyan ( @hitoripiledriver ) and they work together at Dope Sketch and live together in this small studio apartment in Okinawa. He’s applied to multiple colleges and studies calligraphy under Kaoru, cooking under Kojiro and is still very much skating at S, but these days he’s put his studies first, ready for the next stage of his life. Reki at his side by the ruby studded gold ring he wears around his neck, a promise that one day they’ll share each other’s names as much as they already share everything else.

A smile lifts his lips upwards as he pulls Reki into his arms “I have to agree, but... Can you imagine if one of us had spoken up sooner?”

What sort of a reaction was that? He’s peering from the corner of his eye — and before he can get any sort of question out, Langa’s teasing him. Which only causes Reki’s posture to hunch over, shoving at Langa’s shoulders.
“Shut up, stop it, I told you not to laugh at me! This isn’t fair!”
He’s laughing slightly at the light shove. “....Will it make it better or worse... to say I liked you too?” he asked, a wry smile to his lips now. “I thought... You were pretty cool, it’s why... I raced against Shadow... so you wouldn’t get more hurt, why I wanted to work with you so... I could stay close.” he muttered, scratching at his cheek, he was... beyond embarrassed.

the missed opportunity
this one comes with a pang. it is the wrinkled brow of something unpleasant sinking in. they've left to find some new adventure. or they've met someone else. and you have only just begun to understand their true importance to you. you watch them drift toward a future without you, and in that stark numbness of their absence, it hits you. Oh. oh, you want them close. you hopelessly, selfishly want them all to yourself. you'll support them no matter what, but you don't want them to want a future that doesn't involve you. you want them to read the near-invisible signs of your love and decide to take a chance on you. you never want to say that you *used* to know each other. so what are you going to do?

Oh boy.
Hands fall to his lap, fidgeting aimlessly as Reki lets out a small whine of embarrassment. Was Langa seriously just now realizing that? Maybe if he sinks into the neck of his hoodie he can hide the blush that he can feel coloring his cheeks. That seems too obvious, though — so instead he opts to turn his whole head away from his boyfriend, suddenly finding the wall extremely interesting.
“Well, I, uh — maybe! I just — I thought you were cute, and maybe you’d be interested in skateboarding, and if you were I could …. uh ….. maybe ….. impress you.”
Another whine, shifting in his seat. It’s really embarrassing talking about this!
“But then you asked about my job! You wouldn’t stop asking about my job, actually! So I figured you weren’t interested! Don’t laugh at me!”
“.......” and he smacks his own forehead and just puts his head in his hands and GROANS so loudly at this, whining slightly. Oh god, he was stupid, so stupid. SO DAMN STUPID. But rather than focus on that...? He had a prime opportunity here. “....Awwww babe you had a crush on meeeeeee?” Yes, good, cover up his failure in noticing. Nailed it!
