hi. not sure if anyone remembers me, but jinx is making a comeback. maybe with a new face, iâm not sure. but iâll be reworking and modifying her a bit until iâm ready to start playing her again.Â
And once the storm is over you wonât remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You wonât even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you wonât be the same person who walked in. Thatâs what this stormâs all about.
Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore.
BÉŞá´á´á´ĘÉ´á´ss ÉŞs á´ SĘá´á´ á´ á´Ň BĘá´ÉŞsá´ BĘá´á´ â GĘÉŞá´á´˘ ďš JÉŞÉ´x
Oh, what a killjoy. And she was just about to get warmed up for a fight that wasnât about to happenâ or was it? Nikita did manage to make her seethe but perhaps she just needed to give it a little bit more. Or she could have just downright thrown a shoe in her direction but she wasnât about to stoop that low, was she? Maybe she would after all, considering how the other had once betrayed her, betrayed her own kind. However, it was the otherâs next action that brought upon an arch of her eyebrow. As improper as she might make herself appear to be, she had never once spat in front of a person before and it made her wonder what such uncivilised behaviour could bring. A sense of triumph? Fulfillment? But of what?
She had contemplated once again on the shoe-throwing idea but sheâd rather not lose any of her belongings. So instead, she found the next best thing. It wouldnât be that difficult now since the female already had her back against her. The corners of her lips twisted to form a little smirk as her gaze trailed to one of the garbage cans by the roadside. The redhead had decided to toy around with Jinx for a little longer for thatâs where all the fun comes from, isnât it? It was as if a switch had turned on in her head and the lid slowly got levitated just inches above the can. She wouldnât want to get it up so high and attract unnecessary attention now, would she? Not when she still had a mutant to piss off. That would kill the dramatic effect she was aiming for.
Turning her back against the girl, she took a couple of steps away to make it look as if she was about to leave the scene as well. Unbeknownst to the passersby (and perhaps the only other mutant on the street besides her), she could clearly picture the image behind her right inside her mind. All she had to do was wait for the right opportunity to open up and only then would she strike. There was always a brief lapse of second where everyone tended to their own personal task and not pay any attention to their surroundings. The moment she saw it, she immediately launched the metal lid towards the girlâs back, all the while taking a left turn to cross the street.
The static on her skin was merely a dull buzz now that she had removed the other from her sight. She was thankful it hadn't escalated any further. It was strongly advised that she only involve herself in altercations with humans when it was extremely necessary, for it put herself and The Organisation at risk of exposure. They had spent far too long rebuilding themselves and creating an illusion that they had been destroyed (which of course was far from the truth) for it to be ruined by a silly human. All the mutant craved now was a cigarette instead of crushing that girl's thick skull into the pavement. Which was the best result she could have hoped for.
She had barely taken a drag of the stick between her ruby lips when the aluminium impacted the back of her cranium, the smoking cigarette falling onto the pavement as the mutant halted suddenly.
       Explosions.Â
                 Rubble.
                       Those familiar eyes.                 Â
The erratic flashes in her head ceased as quickly as they began. And Jinx had forgotten about the short moment of mental confusion by the time she had clenched her fists, ready to deliver a violent blow to the girl behind her-- who had undoubtedly committed the crime. Anger fuelled and commanded her.
              "You stupid little bit--"
Her words fell short, realising there the other was no where to be found. Her eyes frantically searched for the infuriating being, barely catching sight of her as she attempted to casually execute her getaway. Had this human really thrown the lid of a trashcan that far? Surely it wasn't anyone else. Not like it really mattered to the mutant, this was just the excuse she needed. Her fuse had all but burnt up. This girl was going to taste her own blood.
Thoughts were clouded by a dark haze and the sky above mirrored her mind; a brisk wind blowing over her surroundings despite the summer sun. The static bounced across her fingertips as she chased after the female, suddenly coming up behind her and grabbing her roughly by her collar before tossing the unsuspecting female down a secluded alley, away from prying eyes. Not that it mattered, Jinx had learned that humans rarely intervened in physical matters that did not concern them. They were far too selfish.
If a fight was what this horrid woman wanted, then that was what she was going to get. Jinx wasn't about to handicap herself either. It was her own fault she had decided to piss off a mutant who could command the most savage of storms.Â
"Don't you know it's a dog move to strike someone when their back is turned?"
mutated ; somin & jongin
{ âbeing distrustful is in Jonginâs natureâmutant or notâwhich is very much expected from someone whose childhood and adolescence were tainted with the knowledge that life was all about killing or being killed. and this woman with her volatility is nowhere nearby earning a smidgen of his trust, which is why her words etch mirth in him again, but he leaves his facade to the more confused one, continuing his pretense. } All right. Yeah⌠I guess. { âhe drawls, watching as she writes her name and number. he accepts it with a tentative smile hold on his lips, nodding. } Yeah, Iâllâsurely remember. Thank you for telling me, I guess. Iâll be more careful next time. { âhe sighs. } Itâs just that⌠I donât⌠understand. { âhe lets out a frustrated huff. } And no, no. You didnât. You were trying to save me⌠us. Sorry if I was being hostile.
⣠â{ ` she smiled kindly, as though she was sympathising with him. } It's okay. I think it's acceptable for us to be-- confused. And no, I'd probably react in the same way if some random girl stalked me. { ` her fingers rubbed her neck, becoming sheepish as she stepped backwards. } So uh, yeah. Keep in touch okay? Even if it's not mutant related. But definitely if it is. Maybe you could even tell me your name the next time we talk? { ` with one last fleeting smile, the female suddenly turned on her heels and raised a hand, waving to him as she left him in the cramped alley. the smirk on her lips was now anything but sweet. }
Storm redesign
The question was unexpected â usually, people would follow her every whim. Even then, theyâd be more curious about her intentions, not her mental state. âIsnât everyone a sociopath â just to different degrees?â Being called a princess dampened her mood, but only just. There was a certain manner in which one could satisfy the a young (but not inexperienced) fashionista, and tending to her egotistic tendencies was one of them. She huffed, not content with the answer she got, before looking the delivery girl over again. The pencil was plucked from behind her ear, twirling in her fingers as she maintained silence for all of two seconds before finally asking: âThen Iâll give you a new job and make you my model. It pays better.â
"Uhh--" The mutant's voice had raised a decibel or four, surprised and unnerved by the offer. She wasn't supposed to be in the public's attention for they were not her focus. Her objective was to find mutants. Delivering pizza was just a necessity to help maintain her facade. "I don't think i'm cut out for that kinda stuff." The only reason why she was hesitating was because of the perks. More money was a bonus. But also, she would have more connections and perhaps a reputation. It all depended on how much exposure she had of course, but the further she stretched the more mutants she might encounter. It was impossible of her to accept without running it by her boss first, but it wasn't a terrible idea either.Â

mutated ; somin & jongin
{ âJongin revels in the volatility of the situation, in all honesty, surging in the form of fluctuating responses and interchanging emotions. for most, it should seem like a dollop of bewilderment, but for Jongin and his belongingness in the brackets of caprices, this is an entirely fun ride which heâs learned to enjoy. he reigns in the mirth which threatens to surface, and instead replaces with that of pure surprise when the female mutant exposes to him what her abilities seem to entailâcontrol over the wind, and maybe so much more than that. absorbing experiences from his own, Jongin believes that itâs not wise to judge books from the first pages; maybe itâs just the prologue for her, just like how his regenerative is for his powerâa tip of an iceberg, inherently misleading. } Ah⌠{ âhe makes sure to douse his voice in relief. } Thatâs nice to know.
⣠â  I understand if you don't trust me. I think it's in our nature to be cautious. { ` she kept her tone steady, slender fingers brushing through her windswept hair as she glanced over her shoulder once more. } Just, { ` her fingers then dived into her jacket pocket and withdrew an old receipt and a pen --she always anticipated this sort of situation-- before she scribbled down her number, writing Somin above the digits. } remember me. It's just smarter to be connected. At least I think so. { ` the mutant flashed a small smile as she held out the flimsy piece of paper towards him. } I'm sorry if I wasted your time.
mutated ; somin & jongin
{ âheâs almost tempted to succumb to the urge to play along with her pity party, knowing too well that he can fake expressions as easy as blinking an eyeâan aptitude that lacquers every inch of his bones after years of being under his fatherâs reign, knowing too well than to expose his weaknesses and abnormalities in front of those who had malicious intents. but he refrains himself from it, still donning the entire naivety too well, for acting so would gain more information from her as sheâs being driven by her emotions, eliciting more responses as sheâs aggravated by his feigned ignorance. } Ah⌠is that so? { âhe scratches the back of his head. } Maybe youâre right⌠But I donâtâknow what to do with my gifts, you know. Not like itâs that abnormal. I mean, itâs not very obvious, you see. You just happened to catch me at the wrong place and time.
⣠â  { ` she remains silent for a moment, before her eyes slowly raise to his once more. honestly, she expected for him to walk away as he didn't seem to be catching on to any hooks she was baiting. it was difficult sometimes, most mutants were naturally distrusting of anyone. but usually when she outed herself they were a little more likely to believe everything she said, even allow her to befriend them. it was all an act on her part of course. it was just how things had to be. } Well... You have to find you way, { ` the mutant quickly darts her eyes around the pair of them, reassuring herself they were very much alone before she lifted her hand, curling her finger inwards. a strong gust of wind that caused loose papers to fly and rattled near by trashcans rushed through the narrow alleyway they stood in, causing her chestnut hair to swirl in the air. the wind eventually dissipated when the girl finally lowered her hand. } but you don't have to do it alone.
I rise from my worst disasters, I turn, I change.
from The Waves by Virginia Woolf
[ ⧠] â-An exasperated groan pretty much projectile shot out of his mouth when he spotted the girl turning the corner, and he didnât even have the chance to start running once more before a random gust of wind just suddenly blew up and knocked the box of treats out of his clutches. âWhat the fuck?â He spat, blinking at the sky in disbelief. There was nary a gust of wind just a few minutes ago, and he couldâve sworn that wind gusts did not travel in such precise directions. He lowered himself down, picking up the fallen paper bag, scowling in distaste as he turned towards his pursuer. âNow itâs all ruined and Iâm blaming you. Donât you have taste?â Groaning, Dolce tossed the entire bag towards the girl, rolling his eyes in annoyance at the loss of a nice treat. Then again, he wouldnât be caught dead eating ones that were smushed up on the dirty pavement, really. âUgh.â
Oh, it was so very hard to repress the devious grin that threatened to spread across her lips as she walked towards him, stopping short of just a few feet. "The gods must be looking after me." She muttered in response, finally allowing that sly smile to appear as she caught the bag-- signifying her success. "Thank you very much, I was afraid I was going to have to kick off my heels for a moment there." The mutant suddenly pivoted, flowing chestnut locks swaying with her motions as she raised two fingers in the air and called out to the male behind her. "Enjoy your day, fucker!"Â
mutated ; somin & jongin
{ âthere are bubbles of laughter simmering in his chest as soon as she discloses the real source of her fear. humans. human beings; those who pretend to have their normality tucked safely in the crooks of their elbows, those who desperately seek their safety to the point of selfishness. attempting to eliminate mutants like them is nothing but a suicide mission for them, and Jongin doesnât follow her train of thoughts as to why sheâd even ruminate over such a false truth. itâs almost too risible for his liking, and sheâs wasting his time. } Really, now? Humans? Are you shitting me? { âhis words are loose, casual. thereâs no contained toxic in it apart from the impression that it carves. } Right. Yeah. Sure. { âhe shrugs nonchalantly. } I know that theyâre always trying to incinerate whatever that doesnât fit their standards, but weâre the superior kind. Weâre the mutated humans.
⣠â  { ` she appeared hurt as he laughed at her, deep creases lining her forehead before she stepped closer to him, her whisperings harsh. } We are the minority, you idiot. Minorities never really fare well... { ` suddenly, her disgruntled demeanour collapsed and her expression fell to one of sorrow as she folded her arms across her chest. thank goodness she possessed some ability to act and lie through her teeth for she would have laughed at him by now. how naive he was to the evils of this world. and all he could apparently do was lick his own wounds until they healed? what a joke. she could burn him to a crisp in an instant. } I'm just trying to help. I've lost too many and I thought finding others would-- Never mind. { ` she averted her gaze as she muttered, as though he had just crushed any hope she had been holding dear. }Â
[ ⧠] â-The box of treats still clutched tight between his arm, the boy smoothly maneuvered his way into the dimly lit alley, long and agile legs zigzagging from side to side in an attempt to lose his pursuer. He docked a look back, a breath of shocked disbelief escaping his mouth as he saw her form not even a few steps behind his own, making him shake his head to painstakingly speed up his pace. âCome on! I lined up for this, ahjumma!â Dolce wasnât really one to raise his voice, but he was a person whoâd much rather kill than sacrifice his beloved sweets. He slipped out of the alley, running a few more blocks before he decided it was safe to stop and catch his breath. âSeriously.â
Did he just call her an ahjumma? Albeit, she didn't even know how old she was but-- really? Oh boy, was she going to get her revenge. She began to slow and allowed him to make his apparent getaway, yet the mutant had other ideas and instead, opted to chose a different path to run along. Sure enough, she eventually spotted the infuriating male catching his breath. She rolled her eyes. Humans. Now was the perfect time to strike and with a small amount of concentration, a wind gusted in his direction with enough force to knock the prize right out of his hands. It was easy to cheat when one lacked a moral compass and an inability to accept defeat.Â
BÉŞá´á´á´ĘÉ´á´ss ÉŞs á´ SĘá´á´ á´ á´Ň BĘá´ÉŞsá´ BĘá´á´ â GĘÉŞá´á´˘ ďš JÉŞÉ´x
Ah. That did the trick as expected. Although Nikita knew the consequences that usually follow after using that word on a fellow mutant (imagine it as someone hitting your head from behind with a spade, to put it mildly), she did have a moment of doubt where this stranger-than-usual female would just walk away. But eh, perhaps the word still held tightly onto its ability to irk them. A smug smile crept into her coral lips after succeeding in eliciting the response she desired. Nikita had blithe disregard for what the other had to say about the so-called vile word she had just spat in her direction and in all honesty, she just wanted to see if her temperament had changed after all this time. It was good to know that she was still the same olâ Jinx she once had the unfortunate liberty of knowing. Â
Her perfectly arched brows creased at the otherâs choice of words for she was hoping for something much harsher instead of the tepid ones she had spoken out in agitation. Much like her obstreperous personality, Nikita bent over and let out another hearty laughâ this time managing to make it sound much more sincere than the previous one in the station. Had she let it continue on, the lids of garbage cans would have started to rattle and clatter above their respective cans to mimic a round of applause for her beloved friend over here. âBratty, huh?â Exhaling a soft sigh, she made a gesture of wiping off a non-existent tear from the corner of her eye and straightened up to her full height once again to face the mutant.
âIâd like to see your try,â she called out and offered her a little wave with her fingers, a taunting smirk adorning her lips. The female could come at her with all that she had and that still wouldnât faze her. 'Y'got nerves made of diamonds,' was what one of her fellow alliance member had described her with during one of their suicide missions. Feet planted firmly on the ground, she crossed her arms over her chest and stared right back at her and awaited her next move. Would it be to come over to where she was or to turn away like the coward she suspected her to be? Either way, she wasnât going to let her off easily.
The abrasive female was baiting her and Jinx was aware of it. Of course, she knew this was a mind game fought with words and piercing glares. But was she really trying to draw out something physical? For the sake of what-- getting the pair of them arrested right outside a police station? Was this snarky bitch really that thick? Honestly, the unprovoked attack from the other was enough to piss Jinx off and make her fume, but it was the seething blaze ignited by an unknown source that had her reeling. Nothing would please her more than to see that skinny neck snapping like a twig. The real kicker was that she didn't even know this girl and yet the bloodlust was so intense. Insatiable.
Had the skies just turned a few shades darker?Â
The cherry chestnut mutant was snarling, but she was a trained bitch, unlike the piece of work taunting her. The consequences were too grand to risk. She didn't want to be exposed- or even just locked up for assault on a petty human. Her muscles were coiled and ready to spring at her, show her that she really chose the wrong mutant to mess with. That'd give her a shock (pun intended) and Jinx would no doubted leave with a smug grin. But it just wasn't worth it and it took all of her willpower to grit her teeth. It took all of her might to act civilised in the face of violence and anger.
Lithe fingers flicked her hair over her shoulder as narrowed eyes conveyed her annoyance. "I'm sure you would." The candid response was uttered before she spat at the ground, turning her back against the aggravating girl and all the trouble she brought with her.
"It would look badass, though," she mused, gaze turning skywards at the thought â also, to avoid looking down and seeing those horrid shoes again. "No, I paid you more than I should because I want to criticise your footwear," she corrected. "Also Iâm telling you to get a new pair. Call it an act of mercy." A hand rested on her door, but she paused to grin. "Iâll order pizza again later to see the progress. Iâd be disappointed," â an understatement â âif thereâs no improvement.â
"Are you some kind of mild sociopath?" Somin's brows were raised, completely dumbfounded that she was being told what to do by some-- well, she wasn't exactly sure what adjective to label the female. Perhaps she was spoiled whilst young, or bought her friends with money. Her skills in interacting with others was almost as poor as the mutant's, and that was indeed saying something. "Look-- I can't break company rules just to please an urban princess. So if I get called out to deliver to you again, i'm unfortunately going to be in the same attire. My apologies."Â
