I can go on a whole tangent about how Massun voices and portrays Rei. I love how in Starry Stage 2 he purposefully acts tired during the morning performances and energetic during the night performances. He even went out of his way to get hair extensions so he could have Rei’s mullet. He gives Rei a very different singing voice when he was a second year to show the shift in his personality. He was the one who requested the re-recording of Eccentric Party night because he wanted to do second year Rei justice. Massun puts so much thought into how he portrays Rei that it’s incredible. It’s not just Rei that he does this with either! I see him going out of his way to cosplay his characters during seiyuu events for their franchises and I think that’s really incredible
And to top it all off, he is still an incredible singer. His natural singing voice is higher than Rei’s yet he manages to pull of Rei’s singing voice almost naturally. I’m really impressed by him
Hey Rei, are you a sucker for fanservice? Because your fang-club sure are! I'm sure it's going to be hard to find someone who won't bat an eye at you. - rekka, who will be hunted alive at some point because someone will have bad blood with me.
Rei raises his eyebrow in surprise before laughing. He didn't expect to be greeted with puns - how endearing. This little bat had a way with words, that's for sure.
"Your name is Rekka, isn't it? I must say, you have a fang-tastic way with words. I used to think that the best kind of humor is iron-y, but you proved me wrong. I'm quite new to puns, so I hope I don't suck too bad, even though I'm pun-dead."
Oh, this is quite fun. The look on your face is amusing too. Maybe he can do this with the rest of UNDEAD when he gets back. He wonders if they'll like it. (Probably not. He can already sense their annoyance from a mile away.) Now, what else can he add...?
"As for fang-service... indeed. I love doing it. My little bats always have such cute reactions. You're all so adorable, it makes me want to sink my teeth into your cuteness♪"
Imagine going Christmas shopping with Rei. Both of you are running around the mall and checking lots of stores to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones. Once it was time to find each other a present, both of you split up because it won't be any fun if you knew what you were going to get eachother.
Once you're done, both of you meet in a cozy little cafe to have your meals and rest for a while. Rei certainly looks like he needs it with how exhausted he looks. You watch the scenery from outside the window as snow covered everything in a white blanket. It's hard to believe it's December already. In a few weeks, another year will start.
You look back at Rei, seeing him enjoy his warm drink. Once he notices your gaze, he smiles. You wonder what the new year will bring for the both of you.
Whatever happens, you hope that you'll be able to spend Christmas with Rei next year too. And the year after that... and the next year after that...
Time can change a lot of things. Its scary to think about. But with your loved ones with you, you think you'll be okay.
Imagine Rei seeing photos of you and your Rei nui. Let's say you're of those people that brings nuis of their oshis everywhere they go. And you're not afraid to take cute photos of them at nice spots like cafes, parks, etc. Or maybe you like sewing little clothes for your nuis, putting them in adorable outfits.
When Rei sees them, this man thinks that its absolutely adorable. Look at that little plush of him keeping you company! And those adorable clothes; Rei wonders if you're able to make some for him too. He'll ask you the next time he sees you.
Expect some playful sulking from him though. That little plush can be with you anywhere, anytime while he's stuck in the office. It gets to go on dates with you too! How unfair... Won't you comfort him?
"Oioioioi~ You've given that little one enough attention. What about me?"
Imagine Rei playing with your hair. If it's long, he'll ask to style it, maybe try to do a little braid. If it's short, he'll be satisfied with running his hands through it, feeling the strands tickling his fingers. If you had something done to it, whether its getting a haircut, putting it in a new style, or dying it a new color, Rei is quick to compliment you.
He would let you do the same with his hair. When he feels your hands through his black hair, he would start to resemble a cat more than a vampire with how he's nuzzling into your touch and enjoying every minute of it. Who knows, you might just see him dozing off with how relaxed and content he looks.
Midori would have treated this as one of their normal hangouts if his mind wasn't in shambles. He tried to keep things as normal as possible; letting [ name ] talk his ear off like they always do. He didn't mind. He liked hearing their voice. And when he had been hearing it for a decade, it's hard not to get used to it. But the more time passed, the more anxious he got.
Should he say it? Should he keep it to himself? What would [ name ] think? Would they… would they still think of him the same way if he confessed? The thought of [ name ] drifting away had Midori clenching his fist under the table until it turned white.
"Micchan?" He snaps his head up to look at [ name ], seeing their smile morph into a frown as they notice his pale face and anxious expression.
"...What is it that you wanted to tell me? If it's the reason that you've been looking so troubled lately then go on, I'm listening. If I can help in any way, then I will."
'I don't think you can. No one can.'
Things would have been much easier if he continued to look at [ name ] as nothing more than a best friend. When his feelings started to change, he ignored it. He just thought of it as a trivial crush, but over the years they've spent together, his feelings grew until he couldn't lie to himself anymore. He loves [ name ], but he was too much of a coward to say anything. He was scared that things would change and they won't ever go back to the way they used to be. He doesn't want that.
He wished that they could just go back to the past when they were just kids having fun in their small world. They would laugh, play, and only had to worry about trivial things like homework.
But the clock kept ticking and suddenly, that small world grew as they welcomed more people in their lives. And now, Midori feels like he's watching [ name ]'s back as they walk ahead of him, hand in hand with someone else. Someone that… made them happy.
"I…" Midori lets out a shaky breath. He feels like crying.
"I… I lo-" His mouth opens and closes. He feels like there's a lump in his throat.
"Micchan?" Midori looks at [ name ]'s eyes. They looked kind. They were filled with so much care and concern, Midori feels like he's about to get sick with guilt.
"Promise me that we'll always be friends from now on!"
He can't. He can't do this. Not to [ name ].
"Are you… are you happy?" He finds himself saying instead. He locks away the love confession that was on the tip of his tongue, never to be seen again. These feelings… he'll keep it to himself. And hopefully, one day he'll be able to let go. "Are you happy with Rei?"
Realization dawns on [ name ]'s face and they look at him with fondness and exasperation. "Micchan, were you worried about me and Rei all this time?"
He huffs, taking a bite of his food. "Of course. You're my best friend. I need to look out for you since you can be a real airhead at times."
"Hey! No, I'm not! Geez, Micchan…" They frown, but mirth dances in their eyes.
"Don't worry. I'm fine, Micchan. I'm very happy. I… I really love Rei."
"Then that's all that matters." What matters is that you're happy. Even if it's not with me.
Midori shuts off the light and buries himself in the large pile of blankets, pillows, and plushies on his bed. Alone in his room, he finally allows himself to cry. He cries about a lot of things. His indecisiveness, his hesitation, his cowardice...
What matters is that [ name ] is happy. Even if it wasn't with him.
Still, there was a selfish part of him that wished it was.
