he isn't surprised. after all, he was daggered during the time that klaus courted the infamous katerina. still, it isn't hard to figure out who she was. he always did like to have a bit of fun. kol offers her a charmed smile, extending out a hand like a gentleman would. ❛❛ do i ? is it that you cannot put your finger on it or that you dare not say ? tell me. i must know who i remind such a beautiful woman of.❜❜

now he could try to get in close with her, lie about his name. snap her pretty neck to hand her over to klaus - that should save him from a future daggering. oh how delicious it would be. he could see him surpassing even elijah. but where was the fun in that ?

" oh, i don't doubt that you're serious, brother. i just think you're only serious about yourself. " in the end, kol would deliver - just in whatever way served him best. it was a response from centuries of being tied to his siblings. time after time again, kol and rebekah were left on the outside of he and niklaus' bond as brothers. he made no effort to hide or deny it. it was unfair and absolutely preventable. kol's behavior was fair, but it wouldn't be tolerated when they had so much to lose.

with their mother's power somehow growing stronger despite her being quite dead, elijah didn't have time for kol's cries for attention. he was either with them or he wasn't. there was no time for debate.

" romancing the witch was not a part of our plan. that is part of you anchoring yourself to another option in case it's no longer convenient for you to trust me. the sooner you believe i'd rather die than let anything happen to this family, and that most certainly includes you, the sooner we can actually do something about esther. "

he may not have been the best at displaying it in the past, a mistake he'd carry the weight of for the rest of his immortal life, but kol had to believe that this time he was seeking what was in all their best interests.

the younger mikaelson scoffs. of course. always and forever. licking his lips, he glances away. considering his option, weighing his words with intent. bonnie seems to have made him more of a careful man. for once, he wasn't recklessly challenging his brothers. of course, it helps that he wished to avoid another daggering. a fate elijah had never been shy about enabling in the past.

❛❛ forgive me brother, i wasn't aware you were the only one allowed a life of romance while still having duty to the family. or is the latter a farce now that you have found someone ?❜❜ they both knew that lovers had a chance of becoming collateral damage. a rare punishment kol has yet to endure, though he isn't too threatened. he believes bonnie can hold her own, she's already proven to. elijah and rebekah, however ? they had lost because klaus.
