Arrives to fandom 30 years late. Hi ROTE fans ;;
saw The Invite at the theater last night (loved it) and the moment they starting talking about orgasms and cum or whatever the row of young women in front of me immediately got super uncomfortable. lots of shuffling and loud whispering, nervous giggling. then one of them proceeded to get out her phone, get on instagram, and scroll through silent reaction videos of people who had seen the movie
one of my friends saw it earlier today and she told me that multiple elderly couples got up to leave as soon as group sex was mentioned. they couldn’t handle people talking about fuckin
so what I’m saying is please support this movie. the 4 leads are all exceptional. it’s hilarious and emotional and awkward and sexy. olivia wilde directed that shit immaculately. it’s conversation-centric and moves like a stage play. original score paired with 35mm film so it feels warm and nostalgic. 🙏
So much of what gets made now is watered down, cowardly, algorithm-inspired, vapid, digital, AI-written, cash grabs. I don’t want to watch netflix brain chow. this movie dares to bring up shit that makes people uncomfortable, that isn’t trying to appeal to a massive, inattentive audience. it’s personal and intimate and crafted with thoughtfulness and artistry. and I want more immediately 🤌
decided to scroll through some reviews for the invite and thought i should share this one:
