Jullian looked out the window, giving a sharp smile as the car pulled in. “Mitch! Put some sausage on the grill! We have an important date today!”

The man walked out with open arms, looking inviting. “Welcome to my abode. Artem, and- Herman, was it?”

Weekend smiles back. There’s a noticeable sharpness to their canines.

When they enter the home they look around in a seemingly casual way as they examine their surroundings with a trained eye.

There was nothing really out of the ordinary. For two rogues, the house looked pretty normal. On the walls hung many pictures. Mitchell and Julian, Sam, and… two other children.

So eh has Anything Happend as Of late?

Artem pauses at one of the pictures, one of the group photos, looking carefully at the expressions.

They know quite well that photos like these rarely held any actual information on the family, the moments were too curated and public to show any of the underlying dynamics at play. But sometimes there’s something off that’s just barely noticeable, usually somewhere around the eyes that makes it clear when a smile forced.

The smiles in the photos were real it seemed. At least, while the other two children were present. In ones without them, the smiles were more grim.

Ah grief. Grief changes things. The real question is how they were changed, because things can go very bad.

They remember how their father shifted in the wake of their mom’s death. How the occasional bouts of blazing anger became a never ending inferno. It wasn’t just their mom that the joker killed that day, it was also the death of their father who would answer all their questions after service, their father who would ramble on about anything for hours, their father who gave big bear hugs… He died too that day. Who died with those children? Who else did Jū dí loose that day?

Artems teeth click and they continue to follow their host, it seems it will likely not be difficult to summon the right emotions to get through this interaction in such a way their intent isn’t given away by their power.
