NETWORKING TIPS FOR YOUR NEXT MOVE
Networking might not be everybody’s favorite thing to do, but it’s a necessary part of most industries. When you find yourself in a new place, your network strategies are more important than ever. Here's a few reminders on how to get the most out of Networking Events.Â
 Never Throw a Number Away
One of the most efficient ways to network in a new location is to look into your old contacts. You might be a stranger in your new city, but it’s highly possible you have a friend of a friend, or some other kind of acquaintance there. See if any of your old contacts work for businesses with offices in the area, see if they have friends or family, you never know what you might find if you look around. Professional connections tend to span further than you think, and you’ll be surprised at how willing people are to help. You’ll actually end up with more contacts than you had in your old city, if you play your cards right. Â
Get Social
It’s not the most personal or direct route to new contacts, but using social media can give your networking the assist you need, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home. LinkedIn is the strongest platform for business-related contacts, but that doesn’t mean that Twitter and Facebook should be overlooked. Follow industry and local news on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter. Join EventBrite or Network After Work  to get a list of upcoming network locations in your new area. Your new network is out there waiting, sometimes all you need is the right hashtag. Â
Events and Groups
It doesn’t matter what industry or trade you’re in, there are going to be networking events for you to attend and meet your peers. These are kind of like parties, the purpose of which is meeting people in your field and exchanging information. They’re often centered around learning opportunities like speakers or seminars. Basically everyone you’ll meet at a networking event is there for the same purpose as you: expanding their network, and trying to learn a thing or two about the industry. Bring a stack of business cards, put on a friendly face, and go fill out your contacts!
Share -. Share your new contacts with others that you meet and they will share in return. It's a sure fire way to grow your network, but it will also build trust and give you a life-time of networking partners that you can rely on no matter where you are in the world.
