“Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence.”
Psalms 73:13
Our world is upside down. We reward the wrongdoer and we look down on the righteous. Words like virtue, purity, and chastity have taken on negative connotations. To be good doesn’t appeal to the majority. The key is not to give up. The Lord will reward those who persevere in the face of persecution and frustration. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
God loves the pure in heart, and it is well worth it to hold on for His sake. Perhaps you feel like a fish out of water. Everybody around you may ridicule you for your faith and for your stand. Don’t be disheartened. Jesus is pleased with you... live well for His sake.
Bibleverse of the day!
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you - 1 Peter 5:7
In His presence, there is an exceeding joy that can’t be compared. It’s not found in the things we can acquire. It’s not found in the sports we watch. It’s not found in anything the world can offer.
His word says that in HIS presence is the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).
How do you get into His presence? Just come to Him in prayer. Anytime you go before Jesus and pray, the Lord is near. When He is present, everything that seemed heavy becomes light. You sense His love, His power, His comfort, and His strength and finally- His joy.
I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Genesis 12:2
God delights in blessing His children. He blesses us so that we could be a source of blessing to others.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, every word you speak, every act of kindness you display, is a blessing to those around you. People notice the peace that exudes from you, not because everything is well with you but because Jesus has given you peace that passes all understanding. Your unshakable faith, your deep confidence in your Saviour, inspires people who come in contact with you.
You are blessed because Jesus is your life, your source and your all.
What an honour! What joy! How wonderful it is, that you are blessed to be a blessing!
“This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” This is what the LORD says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the LORD. “They will return from the land of the enemy. So there is hope for your descendants,” declares the LORD. “Your children will return to their own land.”"
— Jeremiah 31:15-17 (NIV)
Soul Care
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
I Corinthians 10:13, NKJV

remember Jesus wept with Mary and Martha even though he knew Lazarus was about to be resurrected, but they didn't. grief is hard and horrible but this too shall pass. joy will come in the morning, though the night is long and dark. the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. take courage, because Christ has overcome the world.
Give it to God and Go to Sleep
After many nights of terrible sleep with a million and one nightmares (a slight exaggeration), I was exhausted in church and absolutely desperate for a solution to my sleeping problems.
I confided in one of my friends. I told her I was struggling with bad dreams and restless nights, and she shared a few important Bible verses that she repeats before she goes to sleep:
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” - Psalm 4:8
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me.” - John 14:1
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” - Hebrews 4:16
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” - Colossians 3:15
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” - Isaiah 26:3
I’ve made it a habit of mine to repeat them myself when I lay down in bed, and I’ve found the bad dreams are becoming less frequent and I’m finally getting some rest.
To put it quite simply, I’ve learned the importance of giving it to God and going to sleep. Whatever is troubling me, I trust Him to help me through. He hasn’t led me wrong before, and He never will. Whether my worries are the size of an acorn, or the size of a great oak tree, I trust my problems to Him and He will help me through them whilst I’m too weary to manage myself.
