if you're new here, hi! I'm Damaris. you might have known me by other names in the past. I answer to all of them. I am a Christian woman of many names, few talents and fewer braincells. I write (badly), read (a little), photograph (occasionally), and spend most of my time on tumblr either rapid-fire reblogging on whatever topic catches my interest today, or crashing out. you have been warned.

I am perpetually going through it and perpetually trying to find the joy in it. I am twenty-three years old and frightened of my own shadow--and the shadows my mind makes me see.

but as I said before--there are joys, aren't there? I also have a sideblog, @catkin-poesy, which you may peruse for the poetry I occasionally write. I have other, less active sideblogs also. I live fiercely, laugh wildly and love unflinchingly.

God's kept me alive and I'm making that everyone's problem. I have fourteen hundred testimonies ready at any moment.

I'm also a student midwife, though the continuing status of that degree is still uncertain. it's something I'm very passionate about, but passion isn't everything, and I may need to protect myself and others by withdrawing, at least for a time. we will see.

So it's been a while since we did Les Mis Letters and maybe this is contradicted by some detail in the book, but here's what I think would be fun: you know that thing where you grow up thinking that something is, like, a Widely Acknowledged Gender Role Thing and actually it turns out it's just your specific parents that it's true of? like "oh yeah women stereotypically love birdwatching" but actually it's just that your individual mom loves birdwatching and your dad doesn't. And how many formative years does Cosette spend knowing (a) nuns (b) schoolgirls and (c) Jean Valjean? And Jean Valjean is like superhumanly strong, everyone knows this. It would be really funny if, based on that, Cosette just has a wildly exaggerated concept of how physically strong men as a group are. And later she's like "Marius please hold this cartful of heavy rocks for me real quick? 🥺" and he has to be like "no one can do that"

the "biblically accurate angel" trend is such a perfect encapsulation of a pet peeve i have which is everybody wants to criticize the bible but nobody wants to read the bible. like when people were drawing crazy amalgamations of eyes and wheels talking to mary and saying "be not afraid" and everybody was like omfggg OF COURSE she was scared. like no actually the angel looked like a guy can you read 3 lines of text... they were saying be not afraid because it's scary when a random man suddenly shows up in your house and starts talking to you

This is the same thing these silicon valley fucks want; their vision of the future where everyone has a unique biometric ID code implanted in their body is the ultimate extension of Netflix’s “no password sharing” policy.
