glittercaulderâ:
It was a strange sensation, to be praised for her Games. The actions she made over twenty years ago were burned into her memory like some awful, yet vivid, dream. She could never forget what happened, no matter how hard she tried.  âJust take a couple deep breaths,â she told Remy. Glitter wasnât great at dealing with other peopleâs feelings, but she spent enough time married to River to get the gist of calming people down.
Carefully, Glitter reached out to take Remyâs hand.  âRemy,â she started.  âI handle everything every year because I have to,â she told her.  âI handled my arena because I had to. If I took the time to stop and process everything that happenedâŠI wouldnât be me anymore. I wouldnât be able to handle it. It takes a lot of work to glue yourself back together, but Iâve gotten good at hiding the cracks.â
Remy nodded, closing her eyes to try and focus on her breath. She never lost control of herself like this, but she did feel everything so deeply that it didnât surprise her that sheâd felt every second of re-watching Glitterâs games as if she were living them herself. She exhaled once more and smoothed out her dress, delicately dabbing at the tears pooling in her eyes.Â
She squeezed Glitterâs hand in reply when she took it in hers. She took the time to listen, trying to continue to understand the complex woman beside her. âItâs brave,â Remy insisted. âItâs brave to keep going when things are difficult, even if it doesnât feel like it is.â She shifted automatically closer to Glitter and rested her head on the older womanâs shoulder, sighing audibly. âI hope itâs okay that I watched those,â she added quietly. âI just wanted to know.âÂ
