✦ As much as Byleth would have appreciated time for a touching reunion, it appeared that the circumstances would not allow them, for she had bumped into Edelgard midst a busy street swarming with the crystalized monsters the people had been referring to as ‘yetis’.
A swing of the Sword of the Creator tied up one of their legs, tripping it and buying some much needed time. She didn’t know how to kill these things. Blades? Magic? It was all ineffective. But considering Edelgard had been the one getting swarmed, all she was looking for was an opening.
“RUN! NOW!” She didn’t know which timeline this Edelgard came from, but as the Byleth that chose her in the end, she could not leave her to get hurt.
No matter what she did, they would not go down. She desperately grips what remains of her axe ; using her Crest of Flames in desperation only made the wood break against the crystalline creatures. Aymr... if she had Aymr, would it have helped?
Her heart hammered in her chest. This is nothing like fighting Demonic Beasts. There’s no weakness, no soft underbelly to aim for, nothing. Perhaps, fighting wouldn’t be her bid to survive, all she needed is an opening...
And, oh, what an opening she got, as if in response to her prayers.
( However, her faith has already been long-proven useless. )
Her teacher – no, not hers – the professor, manages to trip over one of those that have been getting too close to her. Edelgard was already bolting by the time it crashed against the floor... towards the voice that called out to her.
On opposing as they may be, there must be strength in numbers.
“ ...Professor – if I can still call you that. ...I have plenty of words that I want to say, but that can wait. ” All that she had to defend herself now was her Crest, but she still braces herself, leather creaking against the cracked wood that was once a weapon. “ I can’t say that I could fight too well without a weapon, but I’ll trust your guidance. ”
