Anders immediately noted her scarring, though he dropped his eyes as soon as it was noted, knowing full well how easy it was to come by scars you’d rather not talk about. His own body was littered with them, and though they might not have been as difficult to hide, he was certain he was no less anxious to have them inspected than the woman standing in front of him.
“I’m Anders, and you’re safe here. I can’t promise a lot of things, but I can promise you won’t come to harm within these walls.” He hoped that his assurances would settle her discomfort enough for him to discover what had brought her to his door. “How can I help you?”
Anders. That was his name. "I'm in no more danger than anyone else," She replied, her voice steadier than her hands. "It's... the Underground. We desperately need another healer." Spirit healers were rare, even in the Circles, and they were lucky to have one on hand - a polite girl named Nara. But she was only young, barely out of the Gallows for a month; and while she was talented, healing spells could be draining -- the situation on her hands today was more than she could handle.
Daniela shifted, impatience and paranoia buzzing in her veins as she curled her fingers nervously into the fabric of her stained pant legs. It was often an 'every person for themselves' world for mages. If he refused, she wouldn't find herself surprised. "It's urgent. Please." The red of blood slicking a teenager's skin played in her mind, drawing her eyebrows down and crushing her teeth together. Please, Maker, help them.

It was the knocking that roused him from the near catatonic state Anders often found himself in when Justice bid him focus on the message that the spirit considered to be more important than eating or sleeping or anything else that Anders himself wanted to do.
He glanced at the clock as he stood, not that it mattered. Even during the few hours when he kept the front doors locked the clinic was always open to those in need. It was late in the day, but not yet night.
When he opened the door, it was obvious this was no social call, “Come in.” He stepped out of the way to allow room for entry, glancing down the corridor to be sure they weren’t followed, and then closing and locking the door.
He had the near-weary expression of an apostate, she could see. A symptom of the constant fight. It was one common amongst their kind; lurking behind even the brightest of eyes, turning smile lines to the tell-tale marks of a permanent frown.
Daniela slid in through the space afforded to her with an acknowledging nod, turning on her heel and dropping the hood as the clinic's door was locked to the streets. What she'd caught of the clinic was actually quite large for a Darktown structure, she thought, but it made sense. The slightly larger space would be necessary.
"You're the healer, right?" She asked, blinking her one good eye at him. It seemed with every passing moment, her anxiety grew more pronounced; it became a struggle to keep her expression calm. If she gave herself away now, before anything was certain, she'd be doing more harm than good. "If so, I need your help."

The halls of this part were almost entirely run down; the paint separating itself from the walls, the ground itself worn and weary after so any years of abuse. She didn't have time to pause and marvel, not then, not ever. Complacency and sluggishness was what brought her here to begin with; if she took too long, dallied too much, she'd have failed them again.
Those passages were like all the rest in the undercity, differing only in location - and as far as any outside of the inhabitants were concerned, it was just another shitheap.
Gloved knuckles rapped loudly against the door to the healer's clinic - which stood on surprisingly sturdy under the pressure of continuous assault, unlike the many doors in Darktown that felt like they would simply break away from their hinges with the slightest breeze - and slender fingers pulled the hood of her sweater down to shadow her face. Many praised this healer for his selfless charity. A savior, they called him. The lives of two young mages rested on this man's reputation, such weight for the risk; she prayed to whatever entities might hear that the rumours were right.
