late night post of @makayla.rose.b bc I’m just about done editing her senior session-so be on the lookout for her blog post coming this week 😱⁣ ⁣ my #rbpinfluencer team gets ALL their images from their sessions with me, not just the ones they purchase (𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 + 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬) ⁣ ⁣ my 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 is what I call my “𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮”; some photographers call them ambassadors, reps, street teams or some other variation … but the idea is the SAME —>⁣ ⁣ a select group of high school seniors who participate in various shoots throughout their senior year in addition to their actual senior session - who basically act as the voice for a senior photographer in their market; they spread the word of what’s it like to shoot with that photographer⁣ ⁣ I’ve 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 had a model team - from the very start of my biz back in 2007; and I was the first person to do anything like this in SCV, but I run my teams in a 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺 from other photographers ⁣ ⁣ I believe that a team should be about⁣ - in person (analog) connection & time to ⁣ - form bonds with people you normally wouldn’t have met or would hang out with⁣ - giving back in some way; incorporating causes into our sessions when possible⁣ - FUN “extra” photoshoots that are not just cool, but meaningful in some way - creating lifestyle images that are in line with my clients’ personal brands⁣ - inclusion; I do NOT “cherry pick” girls for my team based on follower count, popularity or looks; the experience is open to anyone but IS on a first come basis ⁣ - collaborating with other businesses like boutiques and hair salons so we help build each other up⁣ - & for me, being able to create deeper 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 with them because we spend so much time together & shoot often, I am able to get to know them on a deeper level & truly feel a part of their senior year experience⁣ ⁣ if you have ONE follower, you have 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞⁣⁣⁣ 💜 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ https://ift.tt/2B63LwR

shout out to all my fellow photographers and biz owners - especially my senior photographer peeps 👊🏼⁣ ⁣ most of us are in the thick of our 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 - that fourth quarter 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, am I right??⁣ ⁣ and I also know that it can be super hard for those in our families to understand what it’s like for us ... and equally hard for anyone on the outside really - ⁣ ⁣ because we make it look so 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘯 ⁣ ⁣ nobody sees the hours and YEARS of practice .... only the 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 ⁣ ⁣ it can be really lonely inside of that I know - especially if you’re an introvert like me 🖤⁣ ⁣ we tend to think we can do #allthethings but remember to not only make time for your family and those close to you - but 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 ⁣ ⁣ THIS is so so important ... and the thing that most of us (esp. 🖤 forty-nine ain’t so bad 🖤⁣ ⁣ my spirit still feels 25⁣ even when my body reminds me otherwise 😜⁣ ⁣ my 40’s were 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 ... not gonna lie; those pesky hormones said adios way earlier than they’re 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 to and I spent most of this past decade denying the physical body I was given (or chose ... however you want to look at it)⁣ ⁣ I wasn’t prepared for early menopause so when it happened, I did what I do best - ignore it and get shit done anyway 🤦🏻‍♀️😂⁣ ⁣ but ohhhhhhhh there was a price to that and I’m still trying to unravel that knot of emotions and the aftershock of all that’s happened as a result ... ⁣ ⁣ I blinked and my kids are grown⁣ there’s never enough time⁣ ⁣ my goals for this next year and beyond are to let more things goooo; work less .. work smarter⁣ ⁣ live & love more intentionally ⁣ ⁣ laugh more (even though @andrewsbowen does a great job with that!)⁣ ⁣ give back more ... be of service more⁣ ⁣ get back to 𝘮𝘦, whoever that is at this point? .... 🦄 happy #seniorsunday 🦋⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ my next couple of months will be filled with shooting these amazing 2020 #rbinfluencer senior sessions - as well as some team shoots - and I’m not mad about it 🙌🏻⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ these girls signed up to be on my team in 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘺⁣⁣ so I’m beyond excited to shoot with them more as they move through their senior year .... it’s always so fun to see the journeys they are on and how much they grow over the course of our time together⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ this is one of the main reasons I’ve 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 had a team ... I’ve called it many things over the years - model team, rep team, ambassador team ... ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ but the intention has always been the 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 - to cultivate deeper relationships with a smaller group of clients during their senior year - between each other as well as between myself and them 💜⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m still close with so many of my former team members - I love watching them go off to college and travel the world and get married and yeah - have babies 🥺 that’s how long I’ve been at this 🤣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ so many senior photographers run model teams but I’ve always done mine a little differently because I’m more interested in creating real 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 rather than “choosing” girls based on looks, followers, status, etc .... ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 is welcome on my team, although I do limit it by the number of girls I can take on - that’s because I put a LOT of myself into it and if I take on too many, I won’t be able to give the girls the amazing experience I so want to 💜⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ normally I start a 𝐕𝐈𝐏 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 list in December for next year’s class .... but this year, I’m starting early ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 #𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 - 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨 .... There are 𝘷𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 ways of saying this and if you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve probably heard some variation of it more than a few times. ⁣ ⁣ I get SO many questions from coaching students, senior photographers in my dm’s and in my facebook group as well … asking about:⁣ ⁣ 1. Ways to stay focused and not get 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝 with all the things we need to do on the daily⁣ 2. How to be more 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 in their businesses ⁣ ⁣ Now, there are lots of ways we strategize about this, but let’s just go back to the basics first - ⁣ ⁣ If you are saying YES to all the things that are 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨, then I want you to be very clear on the fact that you are also ⁣ ⁣ Saying NO to all the opportunities that will move your business ⁣ 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 —>⁣ ⁣ So if you are doing ALL of it:⁣ ⁣ -emails⁣ -editing⁣ -shooting⁣ -invoicing⁣ -consults⁣ -blogging⁣ -social media⁣ -video production⁣ -marketing⁣ -shoot planning and prep⁣ ⁣ The list goes on and on … ⁣ ⁣ You can’t FOCUS on BUILDING and SCALING. ⁣ ⁣ I know it’s hard to let go of things. 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦. The dark, cold studio was a welcome reprieve from the Nashville heat. Looking around, you would think it was the lair of a mad scientist/artist - with all the multiple strobes, projectors, colored lights, computers, tethered cameras .. and you would be {sort of} correct. ⁣ ⁣ It was 2007 or 2008 I believe … when I first discovered @jeremycowart on twitter. I was building my biz and constantly searching for inspiration and photography education/tips/insight. I stumbled upon Jeremy’s work and was instantly enthralled by his talent but also his genuine personality. He seemed 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 - something that wasn’t very common on the internet (still isn’t).⁣ ⁣ So when I planned my trip to Nashville for @conferencetwelve I made sure I built in time schedule a session for a portrait with him. He does these once a month right now - which is AMAZING because this guy has shot like … 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦. I knew I had to make it happen and check this off my bucket list.⁣ ⁣ Being in front of the camera 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 is REALLY HARD! All my photographer friends can relate I know … but it’s also so good to do this every once in a while so we can feel how our clients feel.⁣ ⁣ And, I was 𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐅⁣ ⁣ Like …. No joke. New moon, new 𝘮𝘦⁣ ⁣ Finally back from @conferencetwelve & reflecting on a week packed with new friendships, a decent amount of alcohol consumption, killer Southern food … as well as LOTS of anxiety ⁣😬 ⁣ I know I don’t talk about anxiety all that much here - and I also don’t share pics of myself that much either - but I’m sharing today because I want you to know that if you’re struggling with anxiety, I feel ya. I spent 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 dealing with crippling anxiety and for the most part have been able to keep it at bay for a long time with homeopathy, meditation, manifesting …. ⁣ ⁣ But sometimes, it wiggles its way back in and there it is - this old “friend” you absolutely 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐞. Like the mean girl in high school who just wouldn’t leave you alone. You just want her to go AWAY & you do all the things to make that happen, but the more you fight her, the 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘴.⁣ ⁣ I’ve learned that the secret is to actually 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 to her; to breathe into that anxiety instead of fighting it; to allow it to wash over you and let go of the need to 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 it. Ultimately, once you refuse to give her fuel, she leaves.⁣ ⁣ I’m 𝐰𝐨𝐨-𝐰𝐨𝐨 𝐀𝐅, so I’m using tonight’s new moon in Virgo (my sun sign) to welcome in new inspiration and I’m planning to use the energy of Mars, Venus and Mercury (all in close proximity to the new moon) to fuel my new projects and to create a new me. I’m edging closer to 50 and I’ve got a long list of things to accomplish before then ☺️⁣ ⁣ So, today I’m going to spend some time journaling and meditating to keep my vibration high as I head into THE busiest month I’ve had in a long time; remembering to make time for myself and my health - to 𝘔𝘖𝘝𝘌 my body more; to nourish my body with healthy food and to look at myself with 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘮.
