Iām fairly new to the game so I donāt know why this guy peg-warmed. Maybe cuz heās a less popular character? I dunno. But I have to admit, that everytime I see that I have two I think two thing. One, āStupid that I bought multiple peg warmersā and two, āThat is a pretty good looking bot for being bright ass orangeā.
As a little boy of the 80s, I canāt presume to think what the little girls were thinking in a day of pink and blue toy isles. But, as a little boy of the 80s I can tell you that little boys of the 80s loved space and space shuttles and when I got my hands on this guy for a reasonable price I was briefly rocketed back to my childhood living room carpet that doubled as many an alien landscape and I love it.
This is the first eBay order I made that bit me. It wasn't the sellers fault, I'm sure they said in the description that I was too cool to read. This guy showed up without a fusion cannon... Like, what's a Megatron without a fusion cannon? Turns out its a project sitting on my shelf that I fear I will never complete.
As far as the figure is concerned, he's from a video game I haven't had a chance to play yet. I downloaded it but I know jack and shit about buying a controller to play games on my computer. I am one of the rare people that enjoys the change and evolution of the appearance of characters, so I like his look. They did a decent job of not making the helmet look to lame... which is always a concern with a Megatron.
As much as you might hear Transformersā fans complain about toys characters and their representations, you donāt hear many complaints about this homage to our dead hero. So I think itās maybe time to thank Megatron and Rodimus Prime/Hot Rod. I mean, without that would we have an articulated repaint of the corpse of Optimus Prime. Thank you Hotrod for your serviceā¦ maybe not.

I know I have a snarky tagline on this guy, but truth be told, I had no idea that this guy originally came with Scorponok as a drone-ish guy that they refer to as āsemi-autonomousā. While āsemi-autonomousā definitely brings to mind some level of assisted living brain damage, I think this guy is super cool and I love the weaponizer/modulator gimmick. Plus, Iām guessing itās going to be a while before Iām able to spend money on a Scorponok, so at least I got a little āsemi-autonomousā part of him to have and hold and call my own.
One of the first bots I got when I started recollecting. Got him for twelve bucks at Ross. I have to admit that I bought a bunch figuring I could trade or sell them, but then realized, first, itās too much hassle + shipping to sell them and, second, I donāt have any TF nerd friends to trade with. So I have like seven of them. That aside, I do love the bot and the alt-mode is a call back to a deep cut of my childhood that I like to remember, meaning, as far as bots to have seven of, I could do worse.
I bought this set for the Impactor, mainly. I really liked his character in the WFC show on the Netflix. Maybe thatās taboo to say, but Iāll like stuff the way I like it and you like it how you like it and we can both just be cool about it, man.
At first was thought I was soooo cool to have a transparent transformer, that has since died. I now see it for what it is. A third mold, the worst mold, of a character I already have twice, and taken from a gimmick that appeared in the show for a matter of seconds. āWah wah, Chaunceyā.
I bought him before I knewā¦ before I was tainted by the internetā¦ well, sorta. Seige Astrotrain was one of the first new figs I bought when I started collecting. I bought two of them at a reduced price at Ross (something like 12.99). I guess the point is I brought him home and I loved him. He was the pride of my collection. Then I learn online about the sizes and the price points, the parts forming, sure I thought the skis were lame, but you canāt have it all, but then I learned that the internet thought that you could have it allā¦ then I wanted it all too. Have I been ruined? Will I ever return to the ecstatic bliss of ignorance or am I to forever swim in the nega-sea of the internet? Probably the latter.
I suspect that one complaint is the ball joints. As Iāve stated before, I like ball joints and find them to be a method of articulation that doesnāt futz with my suspension of disbelief. While I might be reading into this too far, Iāve gotten the vibe from other collectors that they understand ball joints, but consider them to be cheap or lazy engineering, except for necks.

I bought Slipstream because I loved her character in the new Cyberverse cartoon. I even liked the whole āclone of Starscreamā angle, but this toy? How many times am I going to fall for these stupid Cybervesre toys? The main complaint isnāt the knees, as one might have guessed, itās how the play gimmicks keep most of this toylineās robots from completely transforming. In the case of this Slipstream, itās hard for her to hold the jet mode without popping into the gimmick, for some of the Cyberverse toys, they donāt even transform entirely. I mean, I get it, itās for kids, but still, donāt kids have standards? Oh yeah, and the lack of knees is a close second. But, she is my only version of Slipstream so I still love her.

This is the second repaint/mold of Mirage I have. I also have the āholoā one from the Generations WFC Siege Fan Vote Battle 3-Pack. I tried ordering one from Australia for eight bucks but, Iām guessing they messed up the price, cuz they refunded meā¦ 6 MONTHS LATER!!! After are the reasonable āin-the-wildā prices were gone. Australia pretends to be our allies, but now Iām not so sure.
I like robots! I like classic science fiction! This is perfect. I had first witnessed this bot on Patriot Prime Reviews and thought it was rad. Then, when I ran into it in the wild I had to have it, plus I was just coming off the disappointment of missing out on every opportunity to buy the Iron Giant bot that was making its rounds at Walmart and I thought this guy might fill the void. Turns out the void is unfillable : (
I opened this guy up and immediately thought two things. First, that he looked awesome! He was a great mold and looked very much like the cartoon of yore that I loved so well. The second thing I thought wasā¦ this guy is way too small to fit in with the rest of my collection. What do I do?
