the only image i have of the shikishi (shikishi #10) that inspired this one isn't very clear, but i tried to figure out what the flowers around kou and mitsuba were. mitsuba's seem to be kuchinashi/gardenia, which symbolize secret love. kou's were harder to parse, but i think they might be tansy. they're the best flower that looks like the ones in the shikishi that grow in clumps like that. (i thought they might be chrysanthemum, but those grow in sole bulbs.) the funny thing about tansy is that while it symbolizes resistance and are a declaration of a fight... if they ARE tansy, i'm choosing to read this as kou's resilience to keep fighting. drawing playlist: Shake Na Baby - AKASAKI Replica - TENPACHI (how could i be)honest? - Rol3ert weathergirl - FLAVOR FOLEY

ahaha yeah im still doing the mitsukou polls. i forgot to do all of my usual process work because i didn't intend to spit this out today (same day i cleaned and did the yashiro redraw) and it just sort of... happened. i even drew it on the wrong resolution too so it's too small to do much with. i've had this sketch sitting around since late november, so it's a little outdated...
