The most terrifying part of having memory issues is when you can feel something from 5 seconds ago be thrown out the window and there's an empty hole where it once was. You remember that you forgot something.
The pit-of-your-stomach dread you feel when you finally remember what your forgot only to realize you've run out of time to do it... It would have been better if you had missed it entirely, but no, you remembered just in time to be paralyzed with fear over not being ready, like being woken up 30 minutes before a test you didn't study for.
she guessed my favorite color first try..
but between me and u……. i didnt even have a favorite color until she yelled out yellow!! she was hella excited n smiling like a little kid. so i told her she was right and i havent seen yellow the same since, its in everything. i could probably live in it now.
For those of you who have bravely chosen sobriety AND being anti-social.
Okay, not sure if you'd want to answer this or not... but I've been meaning to ask you during one of our oft-postponed dinner dates - how have you been dealing with the whole villainified hijacking of your name? Especially as a South Asian woman who is well travelled, done a teaching exchange program in a foreign country, introduced so many people to new tastes and foreign entertainment, is so compassionate and kind and generous and the very antithesis of what a "Karen" has now symbolized?
Ok first of all, that sounds like someone else and now I'm blushing. 😳 Thank you lovely lady.
Second of all, for me it's just kind of annoying. I've never really dealt with anyone saying anything to my face particularly I think because I'm not white. I don't think anyone is associating me with those kinds of people. But then again I could totally be wrong and secretly people could be thinking that ...🤔 It don't appreciate all the negativity but what can you do? I honestly don't associate myself with that character and I hope that people don't actually assume that kind of behavior from people named Karen. I'm so not assertive that I would feel very strange being put into that role by someone else's expectations. My siblings do bug me sometimes though and that's probably the most annoying thing. But I think overall I don't really care that much. It is a shame that the name might go extinct though. It's lovely (not that I'm biased or anything) and means "Pure." I think people have just got to remember that there's a lot beyond someone's name, just like the cover of a book.
i’ve seen a lot of scary album covers but…

do you think that the ndp has enough seats to win? i know they don't have a full slate but how much is needed to win the election? does the ndp have enough to win even if they win in all the ridings they have? i'm pretty worried about that tbh
The NDP does have a full slate. They have nominated all their candidates, according to the media. And the NDP can win, if enough people vote for them, and as I’ve said many times, if there is a minority government, it matters much less how many seats the NDP wins (i.e. the Greens have 3 seats in BC and have great influence over the BC Legislature due to their partnership with the BC NDP).
just learned that the word “ferret” is derived from the Latin word furittus meaning “LITTLE THIEF” and that a group of ferrets is called a BUSINESS and i am absolutely pleased with this new knowledge
#these group nouns have just got to be an elaborate joke cooked up by bored monks
You’re not far off, but with nuns rather than monks. One of the most well known collections of “terms of venery [collective nouns for animals]”, The Book of St. Albans, gives credit to Dame Juliana Berners, thought to have been prioress of Sopwell Nunnery.
The book contains, appended, a large list of special collective nouns for animals, “Company terms”, such as “gaggle of geese” and the like… Amongst these are numerous humorous collective nouns for different professions, such as a “diligence of messengers”, a “melody of harpers”, a “blast of hunters”, “a subtlety of sergeants”, “a gaggle of women”, and a “superfluity of nuns”.
