Itâs pretty sad that Steven Universe went downhill so quickly. Half of itâs fanbase left the show, while the other is in a frenzy. The show ruined a completely sweet, motherly character *cough*Rose Quartz*cough*, and made the Crystal Gems entire existence and purpose utterly meaningless. The showâs characters are very disgustingly toxic and mean spirited now that itâs very difficult to feel any sympathy anymore for them; mainly Pearl and Lapis, ugh, I canât stand those two, every time theyâre on screen or mentioned, I gag a little bit. Itâs sad too, because they were very sweet at first. Pearl was this kindhearted, motherly figure to Steven who was always concerned for his wellbeing and Lapis was this amazingly mysterious character who had a LOT of potential, but sadly the Crewniverse squandered it.
Garnet and Amethyst are cardboard cutouts of their former selves, Greg and Connie BARELY do anything unless theyâre there for the plot or Steven comes to them for advice, and Peridot became a comedic gremlin that lost all of her potential. The townies became boring background characters and the majority of the fanbase hates them. Lars is STILL in space with the Off Colors, and Jasper and Centipeedle along with the other corrupted gems were probably forgotten, like the Cluster. The show replaced its star, (pun intended), and replaced him with the most unbearable little gremlin that believes that everyone should listen to him or else theyâll be bubbled and thrown away, (Doesnât that ring a bell?). The Diamonds, oh boy here I freaking go!, will probably be redeemed and become the gremlinâs new aunts and the show will end with them all living happily ever after! Um, no Rebecca thatâs not how life works.
If someone is a tyrant who owns slaves, a concentration camp(seriously that was disgusting how they put the human zoo in there, those things were concentration camps for innocent humans who were seen as animals by racist people. Itâs even worse how they portrayed it as a utopia filled with THE most boring and creepy looking âhotâ people ever. Why they put that in there is BEYOND disgusting), blown up planets, etc. do you really want to be buddy buddy with them? I know that I wouldnât. The worst part about all of this is that they probably are going to do that. Please donât.
Last and not least, the Pink Diamond twist ruined everything. You turned the most sweetest and maternal character into the worst person on the entire show, thanks to her, I probably wonât look at the color pink or look at an actual Diamond or Rose Quartz the same way again without being disgusted. Slapped the faces of innocent fat girls everywhere because they wanted good representation for once and insulted an innocent gemstone that suppose to represent love and affection. Not to also mention that âStevenâ is also a Gary Stu now, he has bajillion powers to choose from, everyone is forced to listen to him, heâs always ârightâ, he can bring people back from the dead, he has a pink lion that can teleport him to places, he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants and now itâs revealed that heâs the son of a Diamond, which is the equivalent to a king or queen. This isnât the cute, relatable, inquisitive Steven weâve knew since the beginning, this is a poorly written mess.
Itâs really sad that a once cute, family friendly show is the most hated piece of media in the entire decade of the 2010s. I want this show to get better for everyone, I donât want to see the fanbase hate each other and I want everything to go back to normal. Sadly, that wish probably wonât come true. đ
