     her  scent  is  so  strong  it  sends  flames  down  his  throat,  burning  powerfully,  unrelenting  in  a  way  that  he  has  not  felt  since  he  was  a  newborn.   there  is  a  strong  familiarity;   alongside  many  others,  he  had  been  tasked  in  hunting  her.   months  had  passed  since  then,  but  right  now  it  feels  as  if  he'd  been  graced  with  her  scent  just  yesterday,  and  his  instincts  tell  him  to  pounce,  to  claim  her  as  his  own  and  take  her  life.   ❛   sorry  ...   ❜   the  singular  word  comes  as  a  growl  through  gritted  teeth  and  he  has  to  look  away  from  her,  remind  himself  that  she  is  not  his  prey.   his  body  motionless,  he  covers  his  nose  with  his  hand  despite  the  fact  that  he  had  stopped  breathing  altogether.   ❛   you're  the  cullens'  pet,  aren't  you?   i, uh  ...  i'm  looking  for  bree.   ❜

     ❛   in  my  head,  i  pictured  you  to  be  much  older   ...   ❜   fred  had  never  seen  her,  not  even  when  riley  tore  him  away  from  the  beach  to  meet  her  in  the  darkness  so  she  could  take  his  life  from  him.   a  flash  of  that  fiery  hair  is  all  fred  can  remember  of  that  night  and  even  then,  the  memory  is  cloudy  and  broken,  diverted  by  shitty  human  eyesight  and  the  recollection  of  fire  searing  through  his  veins.   fred's  face  is  grim,  lined  with  an  unspoken  fury  so  fierce  that  he  can't  bring  himself  to  look  at  her  for  longer  than  a  second.   he  stares  at  his  ivory  fingers  instead.   ❛   you  stole  my  humanity  and  i  don't  even  know  your  name   ---   it's  twisted,  really.   ❜
