@resident-assistant
A fellow RA and I are going to be running a two hour session on diversity for our spring training... we have several ideas but we were wondering if you had any thoughts?
It truly depends. First I would ask yourselves what information about diversity would your group truly benefit from in a practical sense? Look at the demographics of your school. What is most likely going to come up? Start with that, and then go into the less expected and unexpected. (Because we all know that being an RA you have to be ready for the unexpected.) I'm sure whatever you cover will be great! Try to make sure that you listen to voices instead of lecturing the entire time if there are people who would like to speak to their own diversities.
I stumbled upon this blog completely randomly and I'm going to be an RA at CSULB too what the heck are the odds?????
Hey that's rad! I haven't been an RA for two years now but I'm glad people are still finding and enjoying this blog! The RA never really leaves you hahaha.
It gets funnier the earlier in the semester you reblog it

How many residents do you have?
Hey! I used to have 78 on my floor, and I had a partner RA. So not that many, really. We had other residence halls that had way way more.

How you feel doing rounds with your best friend RA
Hello, I am a transman in Central NY and I am also a Resident Assistant. In the fall I introduced myself as [insert name here] and would now like to go by a different name. Do you have any tips for making it easier on my residents when reintroducing myself with my new name?
Hi! Wow, what a tough question. I know if I were doing it, I would try to set up an informational event about gender identity and maybe end it with the announcement if you feel comfortable. Otherwise, I would go door to door on social rounds and tell people individually. I'm hoping you have a great support system in your team, and hopefully your partner understands and will help you and your residents transition to the new name and pronouns. Act as if this is hard for your residents rather than yourself even though I know it will be far tougher on you. Just be honest and tell them they are welcome to come to you with questions because you care about them.I'm happy you are being true to your identity and am hopeful that your residents will be supportive. Good luck, take care, be safe. 💕

ever since I made this post it gets reblogged when there’s about 3 weeks left before finals which lets me know that it’s that point of the semester again
